It's Friday date night! Also it's the Big guy's birthday weekend! We started with dinner and later…read moredrove to Norman to experience our first music festival in downtown. Parking: plenty of places to park for $10 and if you are familiar with Norman (my son is a OU graduate) you can find free parking in the area! Kids: lots of college kids out as well as small kids tagging along with parents as they had a carnival with rides, games and the standard carnival food! Music Stage: The stage was positioned perfectly at each end of Main Street and the vendors were all in between the stages on the sidewalk and set ups in the street. I can't say I knew any of the bands but if you got a good beat I can dance to anything (which I did)! Boy did I see a lot of beer vendors (which is good) but I was disappointed to not see any local winery's representing. Maybe next year! Food: Restaurant and bars were open along Main Street and there was plenty of cotton candy, peanuts and corn dogs from vendors! Crowd: the crowd for a Friday night was just right. Not to small or too big. It's a great free event for families, singles, couples and solo outings. Great job Norman

We saw a post about this on FB 3 years ago and, since then, visiting here has become our new…read moretradition. The spectacular lights and sound show is approx. 30 mins. We'd go armed with a flask of hot tea to stay for 2 rounds as our drive is about an hour. Thank you Downs family for your generosity and kindness in opening your front yard to the public as the free show gives so much joy to everyone. They do accept donations for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in the form of canned foods and cash so we always make sure to shop before we head there. I've also read somewhere that the family has been doing the display since 2007 without professional help. They've also been featured on ABC's reality TV show "The Great Christmas Light Fight". Truly one of Oklahoma's seasonal best! A MUST SEE!!!

5 star I got the honor of having "Jeremy the Juggler" out to…read morethe 7 libraries in our system with 9 different performances over spring break last week! As a past teacher, I loved the hands on part of Jeremy's show because it gave the kids a way to learn and practice, not just watch. He did such an wonderful job with his performance and his ability to work with any size group of children. One of our libraries had 50 attend, one had 3, and one had 94 and he was still very calm and helpful to every group either big or small. We had kids coming away from these performances either juggling, spinning plates, or a couple even learned how to "stationary juggling" with the big ball!
