I had stopped by today Thursday this afternoon around 2pm to pay citations and to renew my drivers license here and it was a bit disturbing. The county clerk that I spoke to, David Serra was not only hostile with his tone of voice but his hand gestures as well. He kept cutting me off when I asked a simple question. I asked if he was ok and he replied "no, I am not ok. I am insane. " Verbatim. I apologized and was too afraid to ask why my reinstatement on my receipt said traffic school when I had completed that online. I left feeling unsafe and hoped it wasn't a mistake being charged again for the traffic school. Also, I really hope he gets the medical attention he needs to prevent him from treating others in the future less than. As far as the experience at the dmv across the hall, it was the complete opposite. Shirley was informative, courteous, patient and respectful. Maybe David Serra can learn from Shirleys exceptional service? I left within an 2 hours. Discouraged from all the fees, and Davids inappropriate behavior, but relieved that at least one employee enjoyed their job. read more

VIRGIL IN WINDOW 6 is an ANGEL! am so surprised at how fast, clean and easy this process was because I was dreading it! I walked in at 11am with my mother, I was number 74 when I printed out my ticked and they were already on number 65, the time zoomed by, we were there less than an hour. VIRGIL IS AMAZING! Location is great and I had no problems with parking, maybe because I came on a Thursday instead of the beginning of the week. I went in for a traffic ticket and there were no people waiting so it was quick. The reason I am giving this a two star review is because of the woman that "helped" me. I had an amazing experice at North Dade Justice Center. The Clerk, Ms. Rashida Shabazz was extremely helpful and courteous.

Traffic citation pre trail went not as I had hope for my son I suppose. Against my better wishes, my son the 19 year old decided to take the judge's offer of no points, no court but goes on his record. OK. Maybe he will listen one day :-( On to location, this place is located on Biscayne Blvd. It's ideally located. With most public municipalities you'll customarily find associated parking fees, but not here. Yay! Parking spaces are too close for comfort. My son parked in a space I thought was too cramp and a wee bit too riskay. Park at your own risk or park in the overflow at the fire station to the north side of the building. I tried really hard not to say anything because according to them I challenge them too much. Hmmmm?? Ok. Now we're inside the justice center. There are 2 floors. First floor will scare you as there are well over 100 people or more sitting in the waiting area and more people sitting at what appears to be like 10 windows. It seems like it's an organized mess. I'm so glad first floor wasn't our stop. We proceeded upstairs where there are at least 10-12 courtrooms. We were in courtroom 3-4 as my son's court time was 10am. So quick and efficient. I was there to get a FL license with an out state license and was in an out in 20 minutes. Thanks, Lissete for the help! Tip: Make sure to make an appointment online. They don't accept walk-ins. Pro tip: Get a mid-week early morning appointment. I had an 8:45AM appointment. I walked into the building at 8:35AM. Went through security, had my paperwork processed, took and vision exam, paid, took my photo and waited for my new ID to print. Had my new FL license in hand and was calling my Uber outside by 8:55AM. Also the parking lot was pretty empty in the early morning. :-) Adulting Tip: make sure to research all of the documents you will need to bring. And bring them! :-) read more

My advice, if you couldn't book an appointment, MAKE SURE YOU DO. The service for non-appointments is ridiculously long & they don't provide seating. So my legs were aching for standing so long. I've seen older people struggling to stand too which is just terrible. 5 hours it took me & I've been there since 6 AM! Once it's lunch time, forget about it. 1 person is serving...go to a bigger DMV for a a bit faster service. read more

Made an appointment to renew my licencee. I came in five minutes before the scheduled appointment (2 pm), they called me up at 2:16 pm. I Left by 2:58 pm. I found it difficult to be nice to people who hate their lives and take it out on a complete stranger. Also, place smells like a wet mop that was used to clean a pigs den. read more

This is by far the best experience I've had at a DMV. Unfortunately despite having an appointment they were running late, so I had to wait longer than expected. However, once I was attended, Vilma was quick and very pleasant. Location wise it is very easy to find, just past FIU biscayne bay campus, the entrance to the building is through the center/back area. There is a security check point so I recommend not wearing a lot of jewelry or metal items. If you are like me and tend to avoid being around many people at once, you will find that the high ceilings and wide space here helps so that it is not so overwhelming. I removed one star for the lack of parking. On a final note, I got to see a couple walking in, and later out of the court after getting married. Not only did they look very happy, but they got rice thrown at them by friends and family. P.s - for the first time in the history of my picture ID's , I did not look like a potato in the picture and I am giving Vilma credit for that. read more

I would say MEH, I've experienced better, but really I haven't got anything to compare this to as after getting my first driving license here in Florida 10 years ago, everything I've needed to do I've been able to do online. And after listening to horror stories from many friends and family I don't think my adventure was really THAT bad. However, the big 10 year renewal came up and as I had lost my license many moons before on a Yelp UYE pub crawl when my purse was stolen (oh what a night), I went online to renew only to be told I had to appear in person. Hooray for me!!. So I went online to look for my nearest DMV center and found I had to make an appointment only for the DMV at the North Dade Justice Center. So I did. An appointment for three weeks later. Now dumb me, I should have really paid attention because when you go for a renewal, short of taking the test again, you have to bring all of your documentation with you. I got there at my appointment time and there were about 5 people in front of me. Yay. 30 minutes in line and I found out I was missing one piece of documentation. My SS card. ARGH. Went back to the office and made an appointment for the next available time at the same place. Three weeks later. Ok Deep breaths. I was the idiot. 11:45 a.m. Three weeks later, arrive at the courthouse 15 minutes before the appointment time. About 15 people in front of me . Some lady in line tells me. You gotta go over there to get your stuff checked. My first reaction...FUCK YOU I HATE YOU. And then I go over to the other line, About 6 people in front of me. Still seething about the wan telling me what I have to do. Seething even more that there is nothing NOTHING telling you what you have to do or where you have to go. Anyone see that movie Finding Nemo, where the starfish keeps saying find his happy place???? That was me. Half hour later, the lady checks my documents, everything is in order. Back to the first line, which now has bout 20 people in front of me. Made friends with the lady who told me where to go and who I wanted to tell where to go. Doggie talk. Nice lady. I'm a fucking bitch in my mind at this stage. All attitude and nasty just because I'm at the DMV. You know how there is always one person in the line telling their life story? No, it wasn't me. It was the lady in front of me. Blah blah blah, about scumbags she knew, about how she had a ticket follow her around since 1998 and they only started collection proceedings against her now (yeah, I believe her given the shitty state of the system). FORTY FUCKING MINUTES standing in line listening to this shit. STANDING. No take a number and take a seat. There's no fucking ROOM for seats in this hallway that is an excuse for an office. And as it is in such circumstances, like after a hurricane when neighbors become neighbors, we all got to talking, and rolling our eyes and commiserating with each other. After all, it is through adversity that we become one, right? Such it was when one of our comrades got to the much coveted front of the line, after first being scrutinized by the gatekeepers of line one, and then to be turned away at line two because of some beurocratical paperwork issue that we all groaned and wailed in unison for this poor soul and then banded more tightly together against THE MAN. But we showed our humanity. The lady with the two replacement knees in front of me sat in a chair away to the side until close to her time to be called, and was welcomed back into the fold like a long lost fallen comrade. Cheers went up when two in line went forth together as one, one acting as translator for the other and thus whittling down our wait time by about 15 minutes. And then, then it was ME. I walked forward with trepidation....would I be acceptable, or would I be spurned as failing in some material way. Were my t's crossed and my i's dotted? Collectively we all held our breaths........yes. I was one of the chosen ones. Today I would get my driving license. I sat in the throne of glory, grimaced into the flashing light with the oversized Party City sunglasses and became one of the many. 1:45 p.m. Parking sucks at the Justice Center. Leave yourself at least 10 to 15 minutes to find parking. "Appointment "times don't mean a shit to these people but they won't take you if you don't have one. But hey, they're doing their job so smile, be happy and BE NICE, its an ugly necessity for living in the free world. My picture is shite by the way. read more

I'm giving a court house/dmv 5 stars... no I'm not getting paid, or am on any drugs. I walked in here around 10 am, got a number to deal with a suspended license. I got number 78, they were on 40. 30 minutes later I was being taken care of... 30 Minutes! I have never seen a line move so fast in a government office. They have 20 windows! After my license was cleared, the gentleman that helped me gave me a ticket to walk right into the lobby and into the line for the DMV, I was in there less than a hour, clerks office, and dmv less than a hour. And finally to top it all off, everyone I dealt with, the security at the metal detector, the clerk, and the DMV lady were all friendly as could be, just lovely people. read more

Unless you are getting married, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I recently received a parking ticket in Coconut Grove despite the fact that I had paid the meter and still had time on my parking ticket. As a matter of principle I decided to fight it. BIG MISTAKE. The clerk of courts does not open until 9AM so I showed up a couple of minutes before opening and retrieved my number. There were already about 50 people waiting....uh oh. According to my college economics professor I should have just taken my sunk cost after the first 30 minutes and gotten the F outta here. But NO, of course I had to prove a point and get my ticket dismissed. One lady next to me smelled so bad I had to get up and change seats. Another dude dropped ass while standing next to me and walked away. You could probably nuke the waiting room and crime in Miami would decrease by 50% in one day.... I was watching the clerks in the window, and I think they take breaks every 10 minutes and it takes them 10 minutes to do one person. I think that communist rice farmers work faster than these dudes. I can only imagine what they need to do to get fired! After 2 hours of hanging around with the smelly scum of the earth, my number was finally called. The clerk did confirm that I had time left on my meter when I received a ticket, however they can't dismiss tickets at the window and they would have to give me court date to come back. I promptly paid the $18 for the citation and ran to the exit. Moral of the story: DON'T COME HERE.....EVER! Next time I will just bite the bullet and pay online even if I don't deserve the ticket.... read more

Parking. There is none. Well, not enough. If you have to go here, just plan on parking in the overflow lot across the side street, behind the fire station. Also going during lunch is doable. You go in, grab a number, (you know you're here to take care of that ticket you forgot about.) and then leave and get lunch. Trust me, you have plenty of time before they call your number. The key to a smooth transaction at this office is having an appointment and all required documents on hand. Finding a parking spot and the shakedown at the entrance took longer than getting a copy of my license. Make sure to fill out and print any necessary forms including appointment confirmation. I can say that this is one of the worst places to go to, just because of most of the reasons you end up here. Court dates, tickets, marriage licenses, DMV etc... The reason for my visit was to renew my driver license. They work on appointment only. I had to wait 30 minutes anyways, luckily I showed up early. I came here to change my out of state license to a FL license, and overall it was way less painful than your average visit to the DMV because the driver's license services are by appointment only. I actually ended up parking a couple of buildings away at another justice center of some kind and had to walk over because the Google Maps directions were a little unclear. Once I got into the right building, however, the woman in charge of appointments checked me in and I waited in line for around 15 minutes. The process was easy and I got out of there with my license faster than I anticipated. If you don't have an appointment, be warned that you will probably get yelled at and asked to leave...but that's easy to avoid if you do your research first. Make an appointment online, make sure you have all of your documents ready, and hopefully your experience there will be a breeze! read more

This place can be zoo and parking can be crazy. It is nice that there is a DMV inside, but that also makes this place crazy. There are times where you have to park On a side road by the water treatment plant. It is nice that parking is free. The courtrooms are nice though, as far as courtrooms go. I had the good fortune to visit this delightful place today to resolve a ticket I got in Aventura for an expired tag on my work van. It was 7 days expired, I still can't believe she wrote me up, but whatever. I could have paid $129 waiver, but opted instead to make the 50 mile trip down there to go before the judge. Now, back to the center itself, which is the point of this review. First, location, it's a good location if you happen to live nearby, for me it was 100 miles round trip. Easy access, a fair size free parking lot which was almost full at 850AM, when I got there, but full with people stalking spots when I left about 10AM. They told me on the phone that there's plenty of parking in a parking deck, which I never saw, but they charge $10.00 in the deck. Easy access until you enter the front door, where they have a Gestapo like search and sieze checkpoint. What a pain, it took me 10 minutes to get thru, and by then I was losing my pants because I had to remove my belt and shoes. What a frigging joke! While waiting for my stuff, I watched the employee rummage thru some ladies purse. I can't believe our country has come to this. Anyway, that's the worst, the rest of my experience was painless, and the judge dropped the case, with no costs, which was nice. I only gave them 3 stars because of the garbage they put us thru at the front door. read more
