I wish I read the hundreds of negative reviews before going to North Dover for my first pregnancy. Please take our negative experiences and go somewhere else! I'm not even going to get into the rude, degrading and careless personalities of every doctor in the office, but I have many stories about that. Medically, towards the end of my second trimester into the third, i started getting extremely itchy. I brought it up to THREE different doctors at THREE different appointments, clearly stating that the itching is unbearable and it's so bad that i'm bleeding- and I was told it's just eczema, it's part of pregnancy and to use lotion. I started doing my own research and found I might have Cholestasis. A liver problem that has high chance of miscarriage or stillbirth after 38 weeks. I brought it up at my next appointment and I was told no that's rare just use lotion. I had to fight to get bloodwork to test for Cholestasis. Results come back at exactly 38 weeks and I'm told to come in that night for an induction. Imagine if i didn't advocate for myself? This is the dismissive treatment you'll get at north dover. Keep in mind, you'll get this type of neglect on top of TERRIBLE bedside manner- degrading comments, violation of privacy, nasty negative attitudes and more. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. First, when I called to make an appointment as a new patient the receptionist Angel tells me we don't take your secondary, but we take your primary so we can still see you and made me an appointment. Today two hours before my appointment now I mind you I moved other doctors appointments for this one. They tell me they can't see me because of my secondary insurance. I already knew they didn't take it so I was confused. I spoke to the biller Carly. According to her, they can't see me because if I change primary insurances, then I would have to owe them money and they can't take cash from me. Then she tells me well what happens if you have a deductible. It says it right on the back of my insurance card through my employer in network doctors which they are I have zero deductible so I wouldn't have to make any cash payments for them. Then she tells me that I should change my secondary insurance to which I respond. I can't because I have other doctors that use that secondary insurance then she tells me in nasty way, well then maybe you should find a new provider. The biller was not friendly at all, and she was not helpful at all. The receptionist angel has no idea what she's talking about. I would not recommend anybody going to this office!!! read more

I never felt I had to make a review until now... I had my son in March of 2021. I was prescribed migraine medication, Fioricet from Dr. B. No warnings were mentioned. Of the 15 pills I was prescribed in month 4, I took 13 of them, and 1 in week 36. Fast forward to my son being born at 37 weeks ADDICTED TO BARBITURATES. I was treated like a criminal and CPS was involved. After a day or 2 the hospital realized I was prescribed and I was treated much better. So thank you so much Community hospital for your grace. But I had a case against me from CPS and by law I had to leave my son in the hospital without me so I can prove we had a safe residence. At no point did anyone from North Dover reach out to apologize. At my 6 week follow up I told Dr. B who acted shocked as she had no idea that happened (which I do not believe). But she apologized. I decided to drop it as it was traumatizing enough and a malpractice suit was essentially a lost cause. I just received a phone call today asking me to pay a $148 outstanding bill. I told them I would not and it will cover my therapy which I'm still in and my son's who has special needs (and to this day we have no diagnosis, so it's unsure it the medication caused it). I am appalled and triggered again, so I want to share my story. Just be warned and learn from what I went through. read more

If I could give zero stars I would, this place is awful. I got my iud inserted and asked for numbing several times but was ignored. A little pinch they said and it felt like a knife being stabbed into me. They are supposed to advocate for individuals but will not take into consideration people's pain levels are different. If you're concerned about your health, I'd recommend you stay as far away as possible. After having my first scheduled appointment canceled, the experience I had with Dr. Maxwell was absolutely horrible. She rushed the entire appointment, never let me ask any questions, and to top it all off, she touched the door handle and the door itself with the same gloved hands that she proceeded to use for the exam on me for the pap smear. Didn't change the gloves or rinse them off or anything. And for the cherry on top, when you go and they make you fill out medical forms, after the horrible appointment experience is over, she will burst into the room as you are changing and ask "hey are you suicidal?" Avoid this place at all cost. This is the worst annual exam I've ever had and I left the appointment feeling disgusting. Never recommending this place to anyone. read more

When I first met Dr Bonvicino, I loved her. We had a great conversation and she gained my trust. Because of my situation, she suggested an endometrial biopsy. I talked to my daughter who has been an L&D nurse for 18 years about this. She told me that this biopsy was a very painful procedure and this needed to be done under anesthesia not in a doctors office. I didn't listen. Dr B assured me that it would be a little more uncomfortable than a Pap test. She gave me a prescription for anti-anxiety medication that didn't make a difference. She assured me it wasn't painful and I'd be fine. She convinced me. I regret my decision. This was the worst pain I have ever felt. Right up there with childbirth. I won't be going back! read more

Im having baby #7 with the practice. I had baby #1, and #4 with north dover.. I was just 18 when I had my NOW 18 YEAR OLD WOW! lol, they didn't judge me bc of my age back then, and after our last infant (#6 RIP Brody) passed away at 60 days old, due to the devestating aftermath of one nurses failure to monitor the fetal alarm for at least 5 minutes, Our baby had neurological problems as a direct result that instead of being addressed, were hidden from us. He had seizure like activity, which was brushed off and I was told that he was fine, and I was blamed for his FTT, when I am more than sure it was due to the extensive jitteriness. The root cause was something rare, that no one could have foreseen . He was born with a "true knot" in his umbilical cord.Typically, it isn't dangerous due to modern technology. North Dover has never steered me wrong and when that same fetal alam went off during my 1st labor, the room filled with nurses and staff within seconds. My 18 year old is on the national honor society, with a GPA slightly above perfect. Every college wants her, and we couldn't be more proud.Thats the diff between competent staff, and non competent. -Amalia read more

You know in this day and age, when people and businesses NOT ONLY, DO THEIR JOB but, are compassionate, understanding and do what they say they will it's so so refreshing. I only have Wednesdays off since I made arrangements to have someone at my job cover me so I could go to this important visit, this past Tuesday afternoon; for an ongoing issue. Well, on arriving, the receptionist, who I think was relatively new, smiled and took my name. I sat down. Shortly thereafter,she informed in a very kind manner that my appointment was not this past Tuesday it was next Tuesday. I froze. How could I have made such an error? I'm usually super organized. I explained and with the most understanding tone she said "let me see what I can do." She spoke to the two other women at the desk and they were able to make it happen......well at least it wax SUPPOSED to happen. As I waited another sweet woman asked if she could speak with me and took me inside to speak privately with me regarding why, after she spoke with one of the doctors, the appointment would not be happening. She explained if I was seen today my insurance may not cover this visit. She was so concerned and empathetic. She took the time to do her job completely and well. When I went back to the billing office to reschedule, Cheryl listened intently to what had happened and said, " wait here let me see if I can help." She came back and further explained in detail where the issue was. She then said, " let me speak to your doctor on Thursday and I will call you back on Thursday after I speak with her. I thanked her. Upon leaving the office, the front desk women were so apologetic. I was amazed that even at this hour of their work day,they were still so compassionate and kind. I went home and set a reminder for myself to call Cheryl on Thursday. Fast forward to Thursday; at lunch I planned on calling Cheryl. I sat and as I was eating my lunch, my phone rings. IT WAS CHERYL. She DID EXACTLY as she said she would. She spoke with and clarified things with my doctor. She needed to make an appointment for me. I explained that I am only off on Wednesdays. I knew it would not be easy as it conflicted with my doctor's schedule. Do you know she said " hold on let me check on something."When she came back on the line she gave me a date and time; that was not only on a Wednesday but was not months away! Just a few weeks. I can not explain. With enough words of gratitude, how this experience affected me with such a renewal to my mind and body. My stress level of late has been compounded with some deeply difficult issues but THIS EXPERIENCE gave me hope. There truly are still some REALLY GOOD HUMANS that care about others. The staff at North Dover Ob/Gyn ARE ( in BOTH the Toms River and Forked River offices) ALL GOOD HUMANS and I cannot thank them enough. My sincere thanks and appreciation to them ALL. read more

Rudest people I've ever met. Unorganized, and doesn't ever call you back. If you're looking for a great experience go to SUNRISE OB-GYN. NORTH DOVER is the absolute worst gyno I've ever been to. If I could give them, zero stars, I would. I've never experienced such a terrible work ethic and employment in my life. I called about an irregular cycle. I needed to get a checked out ASAP. I was able to get an appointment a few days afterwards and when I got to the place the doctor didn't even examine me, although the pep smear is included and it's free with a general check up, I didn't get it because I called about a "problem" which sounds pathetic but that's exactly how the front desk lady said it to me. The doctor then proceeds to say she is not able to tell me anything until I do bloodwork and an ultrasound and that she will have someone come talk to me about the prices. I go to the laboratory section of the office and the lady is very rude, she first says I have an outstanding balance of $100 from a previous visit and she isn't able to look up anything on the computer until I pay it off, she then proceeded to ask for a payment which I paid with my card, and then says that the regular bloodwork will be $450 for today and if she could charge the card she already has, I say absolutely not and that I will go to my own doctor because I've never paid that much with anyone else. She then tries to take some items off the blood work and brings the price down to 115$ for only 2 things to be identified in my blood. So basically Id give them my blood and because I didn't pay full amount they wouldn't tell me everything inside my blood? crazy to think about. And then I go to check out and I get charged 195$ for literally TALKING TO THE DOCTOR for 5 minutes! I asked them is the Pap smear included in a check up and she says yes but you came for a problem and somehow that's different. So I basically walked out of there paying $300 to just talk to somebody. I genuinely do not recommend this place anybody the staff is terrible. They are all very rude and disrespectful. I work in the medical field as well, but I do not think their employees are doing a good job.!! read more

Regular patient who called today with a fairly urgent GYN issue that is seriously impacting my life. The first appointment they can give me is 10 days out. They don't have a wait list in case someone cancels an appointment. They have no options to get access to earlier care. Its like they just don't care about my well being at all. Changing my review to one star, as when I could get an appointment they did not respect that I do not care about fertility. Dr. Southerland went on at some length about how he had to "Keep an open mind" because someone else game birth at 51. So much for basing my care decisions on me, and not a random stranger. Also suggested that if I do not like an IUD I could take it out with a pair of pliers. Editing again - Just got a passive aggressive note withdrawing their care after an agent called to ask me what was wrong and kept telling me that the doctor was "joking" Extremely unprofessional. read more

My overall experience was terrible. The receptionist was very rude. My first encounter was with an assistant and I told her I was there for birth control and a checkup. I gave the assistant my pharmacy info and told her in detail why I wanted birth control. You would think she told the gynecologist..the gynecologist did my check up and that was it. I had to make another appointment to talk about birth control. I called back and I had the same experience with the receptionist being very rude. I went to the forked river office instead where I was taken care of so much better. I drove 20 minutes to get asked one question. After work I went to go pick up my prescription and two were sent so I couldn't get it till the next day. I wouldn't usually complain but I'm moving from NJ to CO and I'm very crammed with time. Doctor was great. Nobody was at front desk to check me in. Waited over 15 min then called for someone. Not very friendly either. Got to work 15 min late because of that. Found out my doctor was triple booked! I find that very unnerving especially when I have to be at work and made appt 1 month early! Dr. Azu is wonderful and so is her staff. Dr. Sutherland and the other doctors at N Dover have been so attentive, accommodating and just great throughout my entire pregnancy. Dr Sutherland delivered our baby at Community's First Moments Maternity Ward and I could not have been happier. The staff, rooms and of course Dr Sutherland were all wonderful. read more

I must say the staff there along with Dr. Larsen, Dr. Schneider and Dr. Azu are amazing and very helpful they deserve the 5 stars they take their time to answer questions and you don't go home confused or concerned. However I will NEVER see Dr. Bonvicino ever again which is why I'm rating 1 star. She made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Poor bedside manner and spoke down to me. She was rude and condescending. I tried asking her questions and she spoke to me as if I was an idiot and blew me off. When I asked one of my questions she huffed and started to speak slow like I was incompetent and was absolutely unbearable to the point I went home confused and upset bc of this experience. I had her once before and she was unbearable but this was took the cake. I will go back to see the Doctors there but will NEVER see this woman again. I have never been treated so badly by anyone or any business than the past few weeks by North Dover Obgyn. 2 appointments and then trying to get my records sent over to my new doctor and in these 3 instances of dealing with North Dover OBGYN I have been so disrespected and treated so badly I will tell anyone and everyone to avoid this place at all costs. read more

Dr. Maxwell has the absolute worst bedside manner I've ever encountered in the 20 years I've been coming here. Never should a doctor put down another doctor they're partners with in the same practice to a patient either. Their turn over of different doctors has been high the past 4 years. Billing has caused so many issues and charging me for certain consults that I did not initially go for which now my insurance won't cover, TWICE leaving me stuck with a huge bill. They won't rectify the codes for this either. I'm leaving this practice after 20 years due to all these new issues over the past 4 years. Used to be wonderful, which is making this so disappointing, but I will not be returning to this practice. read more

I agree with a previous post.. This OBGYN is EXTREMELY money hungry. First of all, they sent my sample to a lab without labeling it with where it came from or who the doctor was?? Received numerous calls from a lab that went through many channels to find me.. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Also, the policy where they make you come in to read you your results. Clearly noticed how my "doctor" printed the results two seconds prior to my appointment and of course everything was fine. Told me to "eat more fruits and vegetables" and that was why I had an abnormal pap. Ok? This practice is a JOKE and be aware that they nickel and dime you for everything. read more

It took me a while to write a review on this because I LOVE Jamie Larson & the nurse, Pat. They are both wonderful at their jobs, but unfortunately after today I have had enough. The disrespect & unprofessionalism that I have encountered from this place is unbearable. From Dr. Bonvincio (I had an appt with almost 10 years ago & swore I would never see her again but had no choice to) is just as horrible as she was back then. Her personal beliefs are not what patients go to see an OBGYN for. Along with that, me and my husband were trying to have a baby and I told her I was cramping underneath my ribs. She scoffed at me and told me that's not a sign of pregnancy, which by the way I was right and was about 4-5 weeks pregnant. Making your patient feel stupid for mentioning a concern when this is their first pregnancy is probably not the best way to better your horrible reputation. The receptionists are nice for the most part. The one that works during evening hours is a sweetheart! But I have been cut off a couple times in the middle of trying to explain what I' m calling about and then they just transfer me to someone else without even telling me who I am speaking to. I have held off this long to write this review because like I said there are some employees there that are super friendly. But today I have had it. Yesterday, I came in for medical release forms because I am switching doctors. My new doctors appt was this morning so I called to make sure they faxed over everything they needed. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly & disrespected by someone in customer service. I didn't get her name, but she works in the department that handles releasing the medical forms. I asked her if she sent them over because my appointment was today and she said no it takes 30 days. I responded by telling her that they needed them today, and now I am concerned that I made this appointment for no reason. Again, this is my first pregnancy, I am stressed & unaware of how these procedures/appointments go. This woman replied by saying, "What do you think you're the only patient we have here? Legally I have 30 days to send them over. Do you understand that? No, you're just sitting there & judging. There are tons of patients that are ahead of you. You are not the only one." I ended up snapping because I am so sick and tired of the disrespect & rudeness these people have on a day to day basis. If I was told it could take 30 days when I filled the paperwork out, then I wouldn't have been upset. I told her how rude they are and this is the EXACT reason why I am switching doctors. She transferred me over to someone else & guess what. She was sweet, calm, told me not to stress, AND SENT THE PAPERS OVER FOR ME. HOW HARD WAS THAT!!! If you are not happy with your job, get a new one. If you're not happy with your life, leave it at home. It is so unfair to ruin other peoples days because of how miserable you are. I really hope Jamie, Pat & the sweet woman that helped me today can find somewhere else to go because they deserve to be in a workplace that has a better reputation.
