I asked for a long middle part with a low fade. She cut my hair way to short messed up the fade, It didn't look anything like what I asked for. Also combined with mediocre service, and one of the worst haircuts I've ever had I would even go as far to say Great Clips has better haircuts there. Would not recommend!!! read more

Absolutely wonderful. I'm a lady, so I do not get my hair cut here. It is a very manly barber shop for dudes. However, my mom, bless her, absolutely screwed up my son's hair over the weekend. He is three, and he looked like someone from a lunatic asylum chopped at his hair with a hatchet. My son has historically been extremely difficult during haircuts -- wailing, crying, flailing, kicking, screaming, etc. Today was an unprecedented success with Toby at North Durham Barber shop. We went in, and we were the fourth in line. Little Man got to see three other people, including a big kid of twelve or thirteen, get their haircuts before he did. This was enormously reassuring to him. When Little Man got in the chair, Toby had a booster seat set up for him already. Toby also showed my kid what everything was, and he explained what all the tools did. He also changed his TV channel from ESPN to Nick Jr. so the Boy could watch SpongeBob. Toby knows what he's doing with kiddos. This is no coincidence since Toby has a three and five year old himself. He's super nice and relaxed, and he has a stock of Tootsie Pops on hand. Little Man didn't cry once, and he now has a big kid haircut that looks really good. This is a great, basic, true barber shop where manly men and little dudes can get excellent service. I am relatively new to Durham, I moved here less than a year ago. I was looking for a barber shop when a pharmacist recommended that I try this one out. Typically barbers don't cut my hair like I ask them to, probably because there is a disconnect between what I envision and the end result; However Toby and Daniel both do an excellent job and they have great conversational skills. I never feel rushed and they both do a great job. I don't leave a lot of 5 star reviews but this shop deserves no less. I choose them everytime, with the exception of the COVID-19 deal, I just shaved my head. I will be visiting them again when life returns to my approximation of normal. read more

This is the best shop in Durham! It is owned by Toby and has been an institution in North Durham for years. It is a great place to talk about current events and watch some TV while waiting to get your haircut. Daniel, is the other barber. He takes his time and gives a great haircut. Toby is great! He does a quick, accurate job and has always been able to easily handle any specific hair requests. He's also a friendly guy and a great conversationalist, so I've never had to endure any awkward silences. Some people always tell you your hair looks great after they notice you received a cut, but after I started going here I noticed a definite increase in the number who said so. I'd have to agree with them. This is probably the best $15 a month I'll spend on anything I generally consider to be a chore. Love these guys. Daniel usually cuts my hair but I've gotten a few from Toby too, they are both top-notch barbers. They work fast, so you'll still be able to get in and out without waiting too long, even if there's a few guys in line ahead of you. The only reason I'll go anywhere else is because their work hours are the same as mine (8-6) so occasionally I'll have to cheat on them with a shop that's open evenings or weekends. This is my favorite though, I always leave looking sharp and feeling good. read more
