I stopped in for a half pint of Hennessy and was refused service because the person I was with did not have their ID (but I did). I explained to the clerk that I was the one purchasing the alcohol and he continued to refuse, claiming that because the person I was with did not have his ID, he would not sell to me. I noticed another clerk behind the desk and she was extremely kind and helpful, but Chris, the person who was refusing service, kept talking over her and saying the law says we both need an ID (it doesn't). I told him that it was unfair and discriminatory to refuse to sell to someone who has a valid ID & he said "you know what? yeah, it's because i'm racist" and laughed as if he was being sarcastic. However, his comment was extremely hurtful and damaging. I asked Chris to speak to someone in charge and he told me he was the boss at Liquor N Wine. After leaving, I called the store and asked to speak to a manager, to which whoever answered the phone replied that the person in charge would not be in until Monday (this incident happened on Saturday, 2/28/26). I felt very hurt and attacked by his derogatory comments. After his comment, I left the store in disbelief and nearly in tears. I ask that whoever is in charge addresses this issue immediately and properly handles Chris' feelings and attitudes towards Hispanic people. I would hate to have to report this incident to the Attorney General's office because I truly like the store and the rest of the workers. Chris should not be allowed to continue to discriminate and ruin the reputation of Liquor N Wine.

Yes, liquor store had the best wine selection I have seen in this town. But that is not saying…read moremuch. Sterling needs to wake up and improve its understanding of wine. Maybe I will teach classes here just to make that happen. I bought a Chianti, thinking that maybe somebody tasted it to see if it was any good. It's the worst Chianti I have had in my life. I wasted every dime on it, though it wasn't very expensive. It is clear to me that the store that has no idea how to choose wine and does not have proper people tasting it. In fact, this possibly could be the worst bottle of wine I have ever had. Last time I will go there. Tomorrow we will go to. Kroger's because even though they don't have much either, at least they vet their wines.

Everyone is always so friendly and really personable. My last visit was on August 23, 2023 and our Bartender was Stephanie (I remembered because that's Lady Gaga's real name. . Anywho, She was soooooo great !!! She really worked so hard and was so fun. It's always a pleasure to go there. We always leave with 3 or 4 Martinis to go each.

My review was never about speed/wait times, or anything about product or store. It was ONLY on how insanely long it took SOME of the staff to acknowledge that a customer is in the store. Not because I need special attention, but because as someone in the industry for almost two decades, I was just dumbfounded by the lack of personal care. However, since then, they've all seemed to REALLY up there game. They're especially nice and attentive to me. I can't tell if its because I'm "that guy" who wrote the review... Or because they truly care and have actually focused on improving customer service across the board. Either way, the staff is very friendly, the drinks and food are AMAZING, ambiance is second to none in town, and I would recommend this place and service 11/10 times.
