The tasting room is small and quaint. Didn't realize reservations are recommended at the Clinton site. We do enjoy several of their wines and their charcuterie tray is a nice addition to enjoy with your wine out on the deck. read more

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE WINERY! I am not a big red wine fan, I prefer white wine but at wide river, I love their sweet red wines!! My favorites are the sweet justice and pursuit of happiness!! They have tastings, a very nice patio section, and a trail that you can take that leads to their field of grapes and bluff trail where they have picnic tables and a beautiful view of the water! Inside they do sell bottles of wine, cheese plates, wine slushees! The bathroom is nice and clean and the staff are so friendly! I always buy a few bottles before leaving - can't wait to be back for more. read more

Wide River Winery is a wonderful place to enjoy wine and so much more. Not only is the wine great, the atmosphere and scenery is 2nd to none. At the the Clinton location you can walk the vineyards and enjoy sitting on the deck overlooking the Mississippi. The LeClaire tasting room is welcoming with it's outdoor patio where you can watch passerby's while enjoying live music. I haven't been to the Village of East Davenport location yet but am sure it will not disappoint. Wide River Winery is an experience! read more

This was the first winery we checked out after moving to the area about a year ago. The drive up is a little tricky I will admit, but once you get to the top you immediately see the grapes and to your right the tasting room which makes the trip worth it. There is outdoor and indoor seating. The deck outside is surrounded by trees which add a relaxing vibe. The views of the Mississippi are amazing, perfect for pictures. Now onto the wine. With each tasting you get a wine glass to take home. They have a great selection for all pallets. Their wines have quirky law enforcement/legal names such as So Sue Me Sue, Smooth Criminal, and Double Jeopardy. They also offer charcuterie boards which are quite delicious. Their staff are always very friendly and take the time to chit chat and get to know everyone. Everyone should take the time to visit, if only once. But I can guarantee you'll be back! read more

A pretty drive up a windy road and about 1 mile or a little more of gravel off the highway with views of bluffs, trees and the river. I had a great glass of Cabernet and a really good cheese and meat tray from their outdoor deck overlooking the river. Fun trip there! read more

With 4 Iowa locations for tastings, each visually beautiful, you won't be disappointed. However, if you get the chance to visit the main location in Clinton, it's like drinking wine in a treehouse, beautiful!!! Plus the staff is always incredibly friendly. Drive up a winding dirt road to find this secret wine oasis. This is now my MOST favorite place to visit in Clinton. There is a GREAT view of the Mississippi, there is ample supplies of wine, AND the owners encourage their patrons to pack a sack lunch to enjoy. Name of each wine is very creative. They allow six complementary tastings per person. Bottles can be purchased and consumed while at the winery. Only draw back is the lack of food. There are some chips and salsa out to cleanse your palate but it would be nice to have a generous cheese platter to graze off of as well. Apparently they do hold special occasions that allow food vendors on premise to serve up tasty treats to patrons. They also have another location in Le Claire, IA. This is a young outfit. They have many hopes, dreams, and goals for this winery. I highly recommend checkin' this place out. read more

Wow wow wow! Hidden gem- we were driving down the road and saw the sign. Quickly pulled off onto the gravel road to begin our journey. Twists and turns up a winding road in the woods, waiting to see around the bend. Then out of nowhere-a beautiful property. Winery and deck looking over the woods and Mississippi River. Beautiful wood bar and shop with tons to buy. Great staff and wonderful tasting. Chance worth trying. Wide variety of wine to please everyone. Will make this our stop every time we are in the area. This is a great spot to try some local wines. The views are spectacular! The winery is on top of the bluff overlooking the river. There is an outdoor deck and a nice bar too. I really enjoyed "Not Guilty" wine. They have three raspberry blends too. I will take some home to enjoy. read more

We were visiting from California and found this winery by searching through Yelp and Facebook. We had it on our itinerary as one of the places we must visit while in Iowa. Although I am not much of a wine connoisseur, my fiancé loves the stuff and she was pretty impressed with their selection. It's a smaller winery that is located off a dirt road. If you are not familiar with the area, you may think you are lost, but just follow the winery signs and you will be ok. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the winery wasn't crowded at all. We were greeted right away and within minutes we were enjoying our first wine sample. The wine tasting is complimentary, but you do have to pay for the glass if you want to keep it. It's not a cheap looking glass either so it's worth every dollar. My fiancé probably tasted close to 7 different wines and ended up purchasing 3 bottles once we were finished. Probably the best $60 bucks spent in a long while (4 bottles of wine & 2 wine glasses). This is a MUST stop if you're driving through or visiting Eastern Iowa. All the wine names are legally inspired names and uniquely labeled. The bottles that we purchased were called (Ms. Chievous, Felony Red, and Ms. D'Meanor). I also have to compliment the super friendly staff. They were always serving with a smile and more than happy to pour the next tasting. They offer hors d'oeuvres to pair with the various wines and provide a seating area in the rear where you can sit down and enjoy the small bites. One HUGE selling point for this establishment is the staff never forced their product on us. They never made us feel like we HAD to purchase something. If nothing else, stop in and taste some wine. If you want to keep the glass, you have a great souvenir for only $5 bucks. Add this winery to your itinerary ASAP! read more

My husband and I are big wine lovers and have done a lot of wine tours in Long Island where his family lives. We had an itch to go on a weekend adventure and so we took a nice weekend trip out to Iowa from our home in Chicago and along the way we stopped at Wide River Winery. And what a great find! We loved their tasting room and friendly atmosphere. I definitely second the amazing views of the river and we had a blast tasting all of their unique varieties. There must be a legal background because all of the wines have fun names like Felony Red (which I highly recommend) and Ms. D'Meanor, ha! We spent the afternoon enjoying the company of the conversational and welcoming staff and left with a few bottles to share with our friends back in Chicago! They also offer a few special extras that you can purchase, like jars of wine jelly. I have been enjoying that on my morning toast lately. :) We will definitely stop back next time we need to get out of the city! read more

We drove out from Chicago, and while as you get closer you start driving through small dirt roads, keep following the signs to the winery. As soon as we saw the winery we also realized the breathtaking backdrop which the winery sits directly on top of. From the expansive view alone of the Mississippi River, I began to fall in love with the place. As you step into the winery you are welcomed by very friendly staff, and the walls are lined with the winery's bottles and few other wine related assortments that make for great gifts, or to bulk up your collection of wine related materials. You also see an extremely welcoming patio which we couldn't wait to sit on and enjoy some of the wine (or a few beers... if wine isn't your thing, then did have one (or two) beers on draft). Proceed to talking with the staff, and they will gladly take you through a complimentary tasting of all of their wines. All the wines have very crafty names, all related to Law, since I learned there are quite a few lawyers in the family that owns the winery. Since I am a fan of both reds and whites, it's hard for me to pick a favorite. Since I'm not the biggest fan of sweet wines, my favorites, in no particular order, are the Felony Red, Conviction, and White Collar Crime. They do have a varied selection of sweet wines, which include red, white, and even a blush, which were all very delicious, but I stuck to the ones mentioned above, bought a few bottles than sat on the patio and enjoyed an extremely pleasant afternoon with friends and family. Overall the experience was so wonderful I came home with a case of their wines, and will continue to buy more in the future. The only drawback I would say is a very limited selection of food, they have a few snacks you can munch on, but nothing quite significant, so maybe pack a little picnic for yourselves if you're picky about your snacks, or if you plan on spending an extended period of time. read more

Cld hv bought the same wine cheaper in Clinton. Drove off the beaten path (quite a ways off the main highway!) to get the personal touch from the winery itself. Dissapointed in the unfriendly reception & lack of interest in our...interest. They seemed put out by our inquiries into the background of the wines. Ex: "Where did the raspberries for that wine come from?" Answer -"I dont know." (seemed a more mature woman that shld prob know her stuff). But...great tasting wine. Just cant suggest the winery vibe itself. Wasn't radically bad, they just not warm in any way. read more

This a great place to spend an hour or two with friends. Wine tastings are 7 dollars and include 5 free samples. The bottles are all reasonably priced. Great place to go for a tasting then get a bottle to enjoy on their beautiful deck. The also have a gorgonzola cheese spread and summer sausage cheese plate which are delicious. Don't let the winding dirt road discourage you. Just keep following the signs. read more

Love this place! The wine is delicious, the atmosphere is perfect, and the back deck is a great relaxing view. This place loses 1 star because their Pursuit of Happiness wine was served with a Dove dark chocolate last time we were there. We were looking forward to that experience again but they apparently cheaped out and got some off-brand garbage dark chocolate. The wine was still delicious, but the chocolate sucked. read more

I loved the intimacy of this winery, how comfortable it is, and how friendly the owners are. It's as though you're sitting in their living room having a great glass of wine. The landscape is as beautiful as the wines are delicious. Felony Red is my favorite wine there and goes well with anything, like a little black dress. read more
