The community center faced a baseball field. The building itself looks professional with a hint of rustic. A large reception hall is available for rental. Rates vary based on day of the week, and if the party renting lives within the township/ Three Rivers area. Grounds are well maintained. Behind the building is a small playground. This is a great added bonus if throwing a party where children are to be in attendance. From the balcony the playground is visible. Many trees have been planted so that the playground is not the main focus of the view. Various public events are held here throughout the year. In August, two outdoor concerts are held. However, ever since I started following Art Equals on social media, I discovered that there are events open to public inside the Hellman Creative Center. It's not just Artist Studios, as the sign would suggest. And, as it turns out, I am a big fan! Open, inviting, and clean, the inside of this historic building has been beautifully renovated. There is a large meeting/conference room just off the lobby. Beyond that, there are artists' studios and a small kitchenette. I attended a Zine Lab with Art Equals and had a fantastic time learning about Zines and creating one of my one. Stop by and take part in this excellent addition to the art scene in Covington.

This building was originally a sawmill and has been beautifully redesigned as a community space, spot for artists, and people who do good in the community (refugee settlement, help with taxes, cross-cultural training, learning how to respond to conflict, etc.). My favorite space, besides the community rooms, is Empower Tools. This is a free service for those with a Kenton County library card. An individual can rent tools for their art, lawn, home repair, moving supplies, or pruning needs. You have up to 3 tools for a week, without the need to maintain them. Perfect for someone like me who struggles with all the oils and fine tuning of home equipment!

When I think of Colerain I think of the hustle and bustle of Colerain Ave. This area is much more peaceful. Before COVID, the community center was a popular spot for weddings. The hall has a neutral look making it easily dressed up on down depending on the event. Due to restrictions, rental of the reception hall has been halted until further notice. Once services open again know that there is plenty of parking. There are several community outreach programs throughout the year. Due to COVID, those programs have greatly changed. There are also programs for seniors. Fun fact. The sign for the community center that is located off of the street was donated by the Northgate Mall.

Tonight we are being treated to BAMSO-BLUE ASH MONTGOMERY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. quite the performance focused on memorial of servicemen/ women Douglas Knehans created a piece related to his father's experience in WW2. Our family has hosted two graduation parties at Anderson Center in the past year. Most recently,…read morethe party was in the lower atrium. It was spacious, set up well so that guests could feel connection, and being close to the outdoor area allowed for a gorgeous view. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reservation process was easy and detailed. The only tricky part was the parking overflow was needed, however we were warned prior about the building having several events that day. The overflow parking actually lead directly to the lower atrium though, so the crowded lot in the front worked out for the guests to see the beautiful water view on their way in to the lower atrium. All and all, it was another wonderful event and we plan to book future events there. We appreciate having this gorgeous setting so close to home!

Today, I voted early. This year, I had requested an absentee ballot (you know, cause the pandemic…read moreand all that). I think the decision to request an absentee ballot was made in a bit of a panic, and I later decided that I would have preferred to vote in person. I decided to bring my mail-in ballot with me and ask them if I could vote in-person instead. When I arrived, I saw the "early voting" sign upon entry. I also saw a line inside upon entering and started to get in line, it turns out that line was for drivers licenses. After finding the early voting area, I talked to a staff member and asked them about voting in-person instead of using my mail-in ballot. Be warned, I was told that because I had already requested my mail-in ballot, I could not vote in-person and should just fill out the ballot and drop it in the box on-site. While it wasn't my preference (I'm not sure why, just a mental thing I suppose), that was fine with me. I filled out the rest of my ballot, and dropped it into the box. The woman at the desk was kind enough to help me seal the envelope. There was no line for early voting and it seemed pretty seamless. I did see someone wearing a politically-affiliated face mask advocating for a candidate in the polling area. I'm not sure if the same rules apply to this place not on Election day, but I'm pretty sure you can't do that (and think something should have been said). Regardless, with the process this easy, there's no excuse to not have your voice heard. Think of yourself, your loved ones, and go make your voice heard. VOTE!!!!!!

I came here to reserve a shelter at Harbin Park (which must…read morebe done in person) and the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the process was really quick and painless. The price to reserve the shelter was only $20 and they had a lot of availability. Try that budget at a Winton Woods shelter!! Not happening. I would love to attend an event here and have any excuse to spend time in this gorgeous location.
