There is tons of room to run around. A dog water fountain and a couple of place for your dog to drink water, although the water was out last time we were there :(.... they will probably have it back on before summer. They also have bags to pick up if they go to the bathroom, most of the people are good about cleaning up after their dogs. During the daytime on nice days there's always a good amount of dogs there and that's when our German Shepard loves to go and make friends!

It also has a second fenced space for large dogs so they rotate use. The parking area is graveled. They have a double gate entry system that allows dogs to enter without letting others out, which is great. They also have a clean-up bag dispenser and fresh water. Bring your Fido here. Other amenities are a nature center, golf courses, swimming pool, ice rink, dek hockey rink, ballfields, shelters, off-leash areas for dogs, basketball courts, archery range, tennis courts, fields for radio-control airplanes, Go Ape zip lines, etcetera! This park even has a restaurant and an ice-cream shop. For several years, I have visited this park. Most often I take my dog to the dog park. I have also hiked the trails and enjoyed the beautiful plants and wildlife. I consider this park to be a blessing to the residents of the Northern suburbs and to non-local visitors.

This is a wonderful and relatively new dog park that is part of Brandy Springs Community Park. The…read moredog park is conveniently located near the park's entrance off of Rt 158. Parking is nearby and far enough away from the ball fields that you never have to worry about not finding a spot. The off-leash areas are well done and well kept. Two separate areas, one for smaller and one for larger dogs, as parallel and share a common fence well. My dog enjoys this as although she is smaller she loves to play with the bigger dogs by running along the shared fence. The facilities are well marked and in good repair so there's no worry or confusion about dogs escaping. The benches, water fountains and bowls that are provided within the play area are greatly appreciated, as well as the spare doggy bags for cleanup. While the dogs are playing it's really fun to enjoy the view of the lake and surrounding woods. The trail nearby and the resident swans also make for some extra interest with the four-legged friends. Although I usually am the only one there when I visit, the few times I've encountered other visitors and dogs have been really pleasant. This park is a really great addition to a nice community park!

And while I did see a few runners on their own, this park seems to be mostly a dog park. I encountered many friendly owners and enthusiastic dogs while exploring the trails. Some of the trails appeared to be marked but the park itself is not that big and the trails all ended up circling around each other so I had no problem wandering around. It's a very peaceful spot with several benches throughout. The sound of traffic at times can be disruptive though. The park is fenced in from Squaw Run Road and there is a parking lot just across the street. There is a sign that says parking is by permit only but I did not have a permit and could not find any information regarding this. (Maybe it's supposed to be for residents only?) I did also see parking along the road leading to the park but watch for signs because you cannot park on the road just next to the park. I don't know that I would necessarily go out of my way to get back here just for myself. But I would recommend this spot for anyone with a dog looking for a good park to let your canine friend roam around.

The thing that attracted me most was the playground that featured plenty of shade as well as playscapes that worked for various ages including babies with a soft floor. I also want to highlight that this park features hiking trails and a great view overlooking downtown Pittsburgh. It's tucked into a historic neighborhood so the drive to the park was also pleasant.
