This is also a con because it makes "cliques" more apparent. Pros: Parent-teacher relationships are strong. Attached to the church so there is no walking outside during inclement weather. Nuns still teach and run the school, this is less common in some other Catholic schools. Convenient for local children. Has after school program. CORA is available to tutor children who are having trouble, this happens during school hours. Cons: Costly, there are even charges if your child stays for lunch (which last I remember is held in the classrooms since there is no proper cafeteria.) Lack of after school activities, and those that do exist are expensive. Extracurricular classes are poor, in particular gym, which is held in the chilly basement of the church. Small class sizes mean advanced students are held back. To keep them busy they are asked to help less advanced students. Most of the student body lives in the area and graduates to Archbishop Ryan. Religion is held in high regard, and is very prevalent in the classroom. By attending this school, CCD is not mandatory as you study for and receive the sacraments through their church.

She is caring, patient, and goes above and beyond to make sure the children feel comfortable and supported. It's clear she loves what she does. Your child may be viciously bitten in the arm by a small boy with an eye patch and buck teeth. My son will be traumatized for LIFE due to this terrible act of violence, and the institution did nothing other than suspend the culprit for three days. NOT ENOUGH. This environment of propagated violence is completely clear from the moment you drop your son or daughter to this creative "learning" center. Children begin their day by singing ridiculous songs about sharing and mutual respect, and are fed terrible snacks conjured up from some liberal health nut's cookbook: something like California Raisins and saltines. My kid may have scurvy for all I know. No gluten or nuts are provided due to other student's allergies. IT IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. From there, it only gets worse. instead of learning useful skills like mathematics and balancing a personal checkbook, the kids play silly and aggressive games like duck duck goose and "Baby in the Air" whatever the hell that is. It sounds like abortion to me. The instructors, and I use that term loosely, spend at least a half an hour reading to the children instead of trusting in their own abilities to make out the meanings of books by helpful pictorial guides. Then, after lulling the kids into a state of hypnosis with soporific stories and undernourishment, the teachers tell the kids they can just pull out a sleeping bag and take a nap. These are kids, aren't they? They have LOADS of energy and don't need to be treated like hungover teenagers. Besides, I don't want my young boy coming home energized by preschool after I just spent a 9 hour day at work. I want him to feel like he learned something, exhausted by the new and fascinating world set before him, not amped up on games, puzzles, building blocks, and world literature. After my son's dental shanking, ER visit, and five stitches, the school had the NERVE to settle this between us and the little bastard's parents. and when pressed by his "attorney" father and "interior designer" mother, do you know what that wretched boy claimed? He claimed he bit my son after my boy kissed his girlfriend and pushed him off a swing. EWW. The fact that a four year old would even imagine having a girlfriend offends me. The school must be promoting sex or showing one of those subversive Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid: both trashy films about interracial dating and bestiality. So you heard it here first. Ignore the overall five star rankings on Yelp and take it from me. Miss Joan's Little School is garbage and creative learning breeds violence and promiscuity. I'm sure the nearly 40 years of "preschool excellence" are about to run up, and I'll be the first to have seen it coming.

We constantly tell people that sending our children to your school was one of the best decisions we have ever made as parents. Our daughter has grown immensely from the education and structure received since her start and we thank you for that. We look forward to her continued growth and the progression of our sons development as he begins. Additionally we respect the discipline, level of instruction and experience that all of the staff offer to our children through their variety of learning engagements. The staff is not only supportive, friendly and caring but are committed to educating our children vs the common "babysitting" practice we experienced with prior Childcare facilities. If I had neuro-typical child, this school would be my first choice because their teaching method is truly the best at developing young minds. I need to note that my son attended this school with a highly trained aid. There are 18 kids in a classroom with 3 teachers. It is unfair and unrealistic to expect extra time be given to any one student on a daily basis. My son's participation worked at this school because his aid ensured that he was not a constant disruption to the classroom. The teachers were incredibly supportive of my son and his aid; he eventually worked seamlessly into the classroom with minimal assistance from his aid. Overall, this is a fantastic school. If your child has special needs, this school can be fantastic....but they cannot be expected to "treat" a child beyond that which a normal, non special education teacher, would do. However, they were very willing to work with my son and his aid, to the extent that it did not interfere with the other children. I found their approach very reasonable. Fun Side Note: The teachers were so happy with my son's aid that they sent her flowers at the end of the school year. She was really touched (as was I).

Before becoming a parent I saw the insides of many preschool classrooms working with early intervention. I've never seen a school with this atmosphere and kids really do learn how to be a friend. The yellow box is an amazing concept. It changes every week for imaginative play. It could be a boat , a store, a cave... so many fun things that get the kids learning and playing together. Not many schools use the materials they use for learning. They have a work bench where the children can hammer and saw. The playground has a big sandbox, lots of swings, natural climbing surfaces and more fun things to do. Its nice to be able to stay and play afterward. You get to know the classmates and family of the class. I can't recommend it enough.
