I stopped in recently & was having severe technology issues due in large part to an extremely outdated laptop.

When I saw the opportunity to make my own three dimensional leather rose listed on the June Events…read moreat Rochambeau library newsletter, I immediately registered by emailing rocadults@clpvd.org to reserve my seat. Registration is suggested. The event was held on Saturday, June 28 in MakerSpace starting at 3:30pm. When I entered Rochambeau library, there was a sign that gave instructions to MakerSpace. Cassidy introduced herself and there were 6 of us for the event. We sat at the desks with all the supplies and Cassidy informed us we have the option for a mini or a large leather rose. Most of us chose the large leather rose. First, Cassidy instructed us to cut the petals out of the leathercraft pattern for 3-D Leather Roses by Annie Libertini. Using the pattern, we then traced the shape onto the leather. Next, we soaked the leather with water. This helps the leather pliable and easier to mold. We pinched, twisted, and rolled the leather into the tight center of a rose. Using a bottle cap as a base, we put the outer shell and the inner shell of the rose together with some leather glue. Lastly, we just have to allow the petals to dry over night. The next day, the petals were dry and they held their shape. Cassidy was very friendly, very knowledgeable about leather, and gave instructions that were easy to follow. Rochambeau library has many different events, so I'm sure there is something for everyone.

My home town library. So many memories here. Hundreds of hours were spent here…read more I used to go in with my little sisters. I used to read to them. Which created a love of books for them, that they carried to adulthood. The librarians were always so incredibly nice to us. I have nothing but fond memories here. Thank you

I took an Introduction to Tufting class on Saturday, September 13th at 1pm at Mt. Pleasant Library…read morewith Lee Smith. Earlier in the week, I received an email from Lee on how to prepare for the workshop to be successful. Lee asked for an image of my design to be sent to him prior, to bring two (2) skeins of medium weight (4) yarn per color fed from the center (he recommended purchasing acrylic Red Heart Super Saver yarn from Walmart), and to read the safety screening questionnaire. On the day of the workshop, there were a few easels already set up. I found my design that Lee already traced onto the cloth prior to the workshop. At the beginning of the workshop, Lee introduced himself and asked us to complete a safety screening questionnaire and sign a liability waiver. Then, he proceeded to teach another participant and myself the basics of using a tufting machine and let us practice before working on our designs. Safety was Lee's #1 priority and he made sure we understood to turn off the tufting machine, be weary of the nails on the canvas, etc. Afer that, we went to our easels and started tufting! It took me about 1 and 1/2 hour to finish tufting my design. After tufting, Lee walked us through how to apply felt to the back of the tufted area using a strong adhesive. The excess fabric will be trimmed when the glue dries. I donated the rest of my yarn to the library so others can use it. The workshop was really fun and I completed a rug. It was really cool to create this from scratch and to finish it. Thank you Mt. Pleasant Library for offering this workshop and Lee for instructing!

Her interaction with my children and all the children that go EVERYDAY, is astounding. She does not get enough credit for all of the amazing things she does. Ms. Denise when she's there is on the adults side. She is an absolutely amazing woman. This library is its own family within itself. Sure it's a community library, but when everyone gets together it's basically a family. There's so many awesome events that they hold and they really do care about the health and well being of everyone - child or not - this is by far the best library my family and I have been to and been apart of. If you lack support, come here. I assure you, you will find it. If you just need a friendly familiar face, stop by. It's always the same people in there! Mr. Mark is a volunteer here (forgive me if I'm wrong) and he's a great listener if you just need a safe person to chat with. Sometimes when someone says the word library you think of an old boring building filled with dusty old books... not here. Boring isn't a word that could ever possibly describe this specific library! If you're looking for a clean, fun, and nifty library, search no more, you've found it. My family loves this library and it is just very important to us. It means more to us than we can describe. Pop in, it's worth it
