You are not working side by side with the teacher so much as you are taking over for the teacher. They literally hand you a teacher's edition of a subject and expect you to without any training or education in it to be able to do exactly what the teachers are doing for the students. Actual teachers are trained all summer long and given so many tools after they gain their early education bachelors. The fact this school t the way they do so they can double up the amount of students each teacher can have is deplorable. Administration does not follow legal guidelines for special needs, accommodations and meetings. After multiple meetings, my daughter needed an evaluation further and was offered it. They never followed through and claimed later that they didn't know they were supposed to even do one. Wasted our entire year. Going to this school was absolutely pointless for my family and one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I regret everything about finding this school. Unless you want to literally have a unpaid job brimming with expectations and lack of support do not bother.

The supervision rate is much higher here so we didn't have any drama. They were supportive of alternative curriculum on C track to cater teaching approaches to your kids' needs. And even though with C track a lot of the days they are home with me, they have on campus social events, clubs and field trips. The leadership at this school is phenomenal at making people feel like they are part of something and that they belong. Thank you so much for such a great experience. When I first went there to sign my boys up, the demeanor of the children were very mellow. A very large number of them are very nice. Regarding how they dress, well, they're kids who can dress themselves 4-12th grade to be exact. They have to make their own decisions on some things at some point in their lives. We won't agree with them but they have to start somewhere (in my opinion). I would suggest the person from Carlsbad (Crystal) that had an issue with how the children looked, should stick to Carlsbad where she's more comfortable with how children look in a more affluent neighborhood. The receptionist has her moments but if it bothers you that much the director is very approachable. However regarding the students and faculty, for those who want their children to learn in a diverse environment with children that represents the US and the world, give it a try. I give it only 4 stars because their online educational software is extremely frustrating. On your child's end (their school issued laptop) you see the completed work with their score but on the teacher's end they don't see it completed. I was being a little tough on my son until I had him show me and realized that a large number of assignments his teacher said wasn't completed were completed on the days they were assigned. So, if they are still using that system, have your child take screenshots for their own proof if the teacher begins to say they are missing assignments but your child is adamant they completed them - double check just in case.

The hilltop location is the pride of all the schools in the city. Oceanside High may have the beach down the street, but this is the best. With a open field park behind and 7 foot basketball courts I always felt this place less of a prison feel than most schools. I had so many memories of this place growing up, my entire youth basically. I definitely spent more time here than the average kid because of after school basketball. First fight, first kiss, first time doing illegal substances (relax, this was in the summertime and just me and my friends, nothing to do with school) I absolutely had the best teachers around, many of which i still keep in contact with 20+ years later. If your reading this you are probably looking to place your kids here and the game has changed so much there are probably better resources to decide with. Bounce it, bounce it. I'm about to throw a couple thousand. Glad to have this been my 1000th review.
