I find Tru to be a lively refinement of the traditional hotel experience. The color scheme of the lobby sets Try apart from other Hilton brands. Fifteen years ago, I enjoyed the minimalist theme of Four Points by Sheridan, but today I feel Tru by Hilton is more energetic, sophisticated, and more on point for me. While I think Tru was intended for young travelers, I feel Tru suites me in my early 60s. I very much liked the complimentary breakfast better than what is served at a Hampton Inn. I liked the pancake machine over the waffle maker. The Lavazza coffee was a welcome feature too. The rooms are a bit smaller, but still comfortably fit a king-sized bed. There is a small refrigerator, but no microwave. Exposed rods, pipes, and pegs replaced dressers and armoires. The shower was full glass with TWO glass corner shelves, so for a change I didn't have to store my toiletries on the floor or bend over to pick up them up. If you need a microwave, there's one in the lobby at the snack counter. The rooms and lobby were CLEAN. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Sure, it's bare bones ( shared bathrooms and sometimes saggy mattresses) but the price is reasonable, its clean and big and a super comfortable place for our 60+ family members to hang out and reconnect. The lake is lovely and the dock and beach are the only things we need to entertain us on a warm summer day. The kids like the rowboats and trips to the store for candy. One recent big negative is that the lodge staff can no longer cook and serve meals. The Silver Dollar restaurant is a short walk away, but it's just not the same as being served breakfast (or dinner) on site.

They moved us to another room, of which the door locked; however, there was at last 1/4 to a 1/2" gap from the door and threshold. I told them we did not feel safe; manager stated they have security cameras, someone "close" by and asked if I had ever stayed in that area. I paid for a full night of accomodations and we were only there for 15 minutes. NO refund offered, no other options, just a "sorry you feel that way". I will NEVER trust a booking site again nor EVER stay @ this accomodation.

At 6 a.m. the next morning, I woke up to a bed bug crawling on my leg. I immediately brought it to the front desk in a tissue. The staff apologized and said a manager would be contacted and that we would be refunded for the room. I packed up our things right away and checked out early. At checkout, however, I was suddenly told to "watch my email for a discount," despite having just been promised a full refund. Nobody at the front desk could tell me when a manager would actually be available, and as of writing this, I've received no follow-up and no refund. Now I'm at home panic-washing everything, terrified we may have brought bed bugs back with us. This experience was not just disappointing--it was unacceptable. I strongly urge anyone considering a stay here to think twice, especially if management can't be counted on to respond to serious issues like this.

At the time we thought it was a tick so we were not super worried. Woke up the next day with large itchy bites on both of us. Next night I woke up in the middle of the night scratching myself. The morning light showed that I was covered in bites. So itchy and uncomfortable!! It was not until later that we discovered it was actually a bed bug instead of tick. If we had known we would have moved rooms or found a different hotel. Be careful if you stay here because chances are you'll be eaten alive by bed bugs!! -UPDATE- After contacting the manager about the situation, I'm even more frustrated with this place. They said because they did not see any bed bugs in the room, that they must not have them. They refuse to refund the room! They refuse to take any responsibility. Shameful. Really upset about this and will continue to update as this unfolds because I'm not letting this go when this 2 night visit has not only traumatized me but caused me enormous financial burden between treating my home, new luggage, a doctors visit, and more!! Unreal.

They never came with clean towels the next day and I had to take the trash out and go get bags which he couldn't find the right bags so he gave me the small bags that go in the ice bucket! There floors were not carpeted in the room which wasn't great and floor was cold. Won't go back!!!!!!
