1. Fire alarms go off a lot by mistake. The alarms are so loud that it is physically painful to the ears inside of our apartments even though they are obviously false alarms. Sometimes in the middle of night and sometimes the day which can interrupt meetings when working from home. Can take hours for fire fighters to investigate the problem in order to turn off the alarms. 2. Ridicilous electrical bills at up to $500/month for a ~1200 sq ft apartment in the winters and months. This is clearly due to improper insulation on the first floor above the garage that management will not acknowledge. Management has installed Google Nest for smarter energy usage but that does not solve the core issue of not being properly insulated. It is not only my apartment as I have talked with many others on the first floor that are having the same issue. 3. Major problems with package delivery through the Luxer system. Packages are often lost, delivered to the wrong building, or delayed. They require a credit card on file to pay for packages that are not picked up within 3 days ($5/day). That is we are automatically charged for delivery mistakes. Management claims Luxer requires this but the Luxer app states "Property Management requires a valid credit card on file in order to pick up packages". No other options are available outside of Luxer and management is not considering replacing with a competent system. 4. With all of these problems, instead of solving the biggest issues, management chose to use budget to completely remodel the gym and club room which has taken several months of not having access there. Both were fine as was and I don't believe anybody but management (and maybe potential renters who they want to impress) cares about better aesthetics of the club room or gym. Management claims they have no control over any of these things. As a renter, I don't care who is responsible. If management will not be accountable for these things by blaming things outside of their control then the problem is still not solved. I will not be renewing my lease. read more

Went over to visit a friend and fell in LOVE!!!! Her apartment was sooo nice. A key fob was need to gain access inside of the building. It was and quiet and clean! The decor in the building was something out of a magazine. They have a workout room with top of the line equipment, multiple lounge areas and computer room with huge tv's!!! I felt like I had stepped into a Peer one store. I recommend anyone to move over there if you are looking for a peaceful, safe and comfortable place to live. read more

I enjoyed living here. The management team was always responsive. I moved during the pandemic, and Susan did a fantastic job showing me around virtually through zoom. I lived right next to the leasing office, and the common areas were always super clean. It was also very quiet, but that may have more to do with the pandemic. I liked the fact that the parking areas were right below the building on the ground floor, which made it very convenient. Everything in the apartment itself worked just fine. Given that this was in North Carolina, it was inevitable that roaches would occasionally roam into the apartment. Every Monday residents could sign up to have the apartment sprayed. I did that once and I never saw a roach again. The management also did a great job making things better for residents during the pandemic. There were events held outdoors throughout the year. Sometimes food trucks would come park downstairs. It was nice to actually talk to a real human being face-to-face during the pandemic. They also put in a new path around the building so residents could talk walks. read more

I lived at NC6 for almost 5 years and LOVED both of my apartments! The elevator access and attached parking garage were 2 of my favorite features! Neighbors were friendly, office staff and maintenance were easy to work with and I never had any problems with either! As far as the billing issue that happened earlier this year, ALL of the Greystar properties in the area were affected, it was not due to one person in one office. Speaking of the office staff, Michele, Lindsey and Suzanne are FABULOUS and will go above and beyond to assist in any way they can. Michele actually won ASSISTANT PROPERTY MANAGER OF THE YEAR for 2016, so that right there should tell you something about her and her work ethic! It's a shame that people will post negative reviews before knowing all the facts about a certain situation. To Tina and her "support" cat, you're lucky they didn't charge you the fees, because they are well within their legal right to charge FULL PET FEES. "Support" animals are NOT "Service" animals! Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. Other species of animals, whether wild or domestic, trained or untrained, are not considered service animals either. The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to the individual's disability. It does not matter if a person has a note from a doctor that states that the person has a disability and needs to have the animal for emotional support. A doctor's letter does not turn an animal into a service animal. While Emotional Support Animals or Comfort Animals are often used as part of a medical treatment plan as therapy animals, they are not considered service animals under the ADA. These support animals provide companionship, relieve loneliness, and sometimes help with depression, anxiety, and certain phobias, but do not have special training to perform tasks that assist people with disabilities. Even though some states have laws defining therapy animals, these animals are not limited to working with people with disabilities and therefore are not covered by federal laws protecting the use of service animals. Therapy animals provide people with therapeutic contact, usually in a clinical setting, to improve their physical, social, emotional, and/or cognitive functioning. If I ever found myself in need of an apartment again, I would move back to NC6 in a heartbeat, but now that I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, I'm stuck in a house! Great service and location. The office provided snacks in the clubhouse when the roads were bad during the snow last weekend. Also, the maintenance team was outside at 5 in the morning clearing sidewalks for pet owners to get out. I really like it here! Great amenities, like the updated fitness center and comfortable club room, resort like pool, and grills in every building. The fitness center is small however, it feels crowded when there are more than 2 people in there, but there is two rooms (a studio and a room with treadmills and such) so there are options! My favorite part is the elevators and the fact that the mailboxes are right next to them. The staff is nice, I asked the maintenance staff to help me hang a heavy mirror so I wouldn't mess up the plaster and he did, as a favor. It's very convenient to both 440 and 540, as well as a wide array of shopping and restaurants. There are quite a few drawbacks. As with many apartments, people living in close quarters, and no insulation, so it can get quite noisy. My building isn't too bad, I can usually hear the kids running down the hall int he morning, but I can also hear the toilets flushing, showers running and washers banging in neighboring apartments. Also, I live on the first floor, and my unit is always freezing in the winter, (no matter how high I turn up the heat) so if you want to move here, be sure to get a unit on the 2nd or 3rd floor. read more

The last review I wrote for this place it was only for 1 star. They have improved which is why I wanted to update my review. The clubhouse has been remodeled and they so keep up with the coffee now, thank goodness because that was a selling point. They are missing the other two stars because they have landscapers using blowers in the common areas at 7:30 pm. My balcony faces one of those areas and I am unable to sit outside read my book because it's so loud. I am unable to watch tv or if I do, I must turn it all the way up to hear it. No absolute way to relax after work. Couldn't they do the common areas first while people are at work and the remaining of the property away from our units while we are home from work? Just received my renewal for my lease and they are asking for almost a hundred more a month and will no longer be offering free internet. The fitness classes are always canceled and the kids hanging in the car garages playing ball is nerve racking and horsing around in the club house by the pool table makes it uncomfortable to invite my friends to come hang out. I will admit that they have done a great job on getting residents to clean up after their pets but as a community and as much as I am paying, my experience here could be better. It's always clean in the halls and common areas so bonus points for that! Oh and there is never parking for my guests and they threaten to tow if you don't have a permit. I've actually have had my friends park at CVS across the street and I pick them up. More visitor spaces please! Overall for the price it's really not worth it and there are nicer places to go. My boyfriend and I moved in about a month ago. We are really pleased with the overall cleanliness of the building and it's facilities. The staff here are great, Suzanne especially had and still has been super helpful through our moving in/settling in phase. We would appreciate a little more attention to the dog park, as well as the elevators, as they are a little dingy. EXCEPTIONAL APARTMENT LIVING! I am proud to call NorthCity6 "home." I've lived in many apartments over the years, and this is hands-down the best staff, with a clean, quiet, peaceful and beautiful campus. I enjoy the parking lots under the buildings (which are well-lit and great for not getting rained on). My dog loves the newly renovated dog park, and we enjoy walking the lovely paths around campus. The attention to detail here is superb. There's a community calendar full of fun and unique events for neighborly fellowship - including awesome food truck nights!). You will have all the privacy you need while also being able to engage with others when you want to. You have access to great on-site amenities, along with easy access to neighborhood amenities and downtown. You will LOVE living here, and if you have any pets, they will too! read more

Honestly my entire year here was a disaster. From fighting maintenance just to come fix a toilet to requesting to be notified before anyone enters my apartment and being told that "can't be guaranteed." One month we were charged an overcharge of 4 grand that supposedly everyone was charged due to one person in the office. This same person put in a maintenance request on the wrong apartment number, checking "okay to enter" after a lengthy phonecalls requesting to be notified before anyone enters my apartment, since I have a pet and need to know when I needed to secure her in my room. Came home to my cat in the hallway, chilling and waiting for me. She's a good kitty. I had multiple complaints about maintenance coming in without notifying my first. Noise complains for breathing, or even being on my back porch at all even without talking. Downstairs neighbor was really bad at the French horn, but that wasn't the complex's fault. I turned in my notice to vacate and besides pushing rent up over $100 extra per month on top of overwhelming fees that just aren't worth it for the location or amenities, I noted that this particular employee was incompetent and caused numerous problems, including the cat issue. My cat is an ESA with multiple forms of documentation that were turned in before I moved into the apartment. After turning in my notice to vacate I was informed I was being charged $610 for my "unregistered pet." Fees were refunded after I called and explained that they had all of my paperwork, my cat was on my lease, and I'd be happy to have my doctor and lawyer call on my behalf if necessary. The struggle with Michelle throughout that year of terrible management was incomprehensible. I don't see how she hasn't been fired after the 4k overcharge to every single tenant in the complex, let alone the other displays of incompetence. Without her, and with slightly thicker walls, this place would be the best apartment I'very ever lived in. But to be threatened with a $610 charge for a registered support animal out of spite from my complaints about her is completely unacceptable and I don't wish that shit storm on anyone. read more

Let's start and you should always know the property is owned by MetLife, and managed by Greystar. Nothing too impactful with that knowledge but one is trying to squeeze maximum income out and the other is trying to do as little for the property while spending as little as possible. ( you figure out which one) "Most" of the rental staff attempts to do a good job but are limited to the companies they serve. Do not bring great expectations to this property, as the apartments are somewhat dated. It is a place to stay! The property appeal is covered parking and what appeared to be secure property access. Don't be fooled--it is restricted access not secure. Anyone can still get in. Owners/Prop Mgt considers an upgraded space what most Class A spaces would say is in badly need of remodeling. 1990 laminate,clearly older bathrooms, lower material flooring and basic/basic appliances. NorthCity6 may be better than most of the apartments within walking distance ( within 1/4 mile) but really should cost between $800-$1200 period! It is not North Hills-- quality, climate or accommodations by any shape or form. The residents are a mix of retirees, younger professionals and a few knuckleheads sprinkled among. First day saw two guys arguing over the valet trolley, one night someone pulled fire alarm at 3am, and the very next night police showed up said neighbors heard a domestic dispute. Only problem, they woke me up and there was never a second person in my apartment (must have been a doozy of dream that I could play two voices). As much as I didn't like being awaken in the middle of the night, I am sure the officers (one female) didn't appreciate me opening the door in my tightie Calvin's! ( so we are even) Anyway, I would say it was not horrible, yet I would not say it is ideal either. If you want new, this isn't it. If you want progressive, this isn't it. IF you don't want to live in MidTowne or like apartments and don't want to pay $1300+ for a single and you're not trying to impress someone-- you might look at it. P.S. Don't sign up online. Registration fees are two high and they have ability to adjust in person. read more

I've lived at the North City 6 apartments for nearly 2 years and have been very satisfied with my experience. Whenever you have a maintenance issue or concern the staff is the most prompt, that I have ever experienced, in getting it addressed. The free coffee, that they provide within the club room is good quality and delicious. The staff is also pretty good at trying to form a feeling of community with regular food trucks and arranging various events throughout the year (like interesting brunches and super bowl gatherings). The entire complex is extremely clean and well kept; I've never seen even 1 bug in either of my apartments. The gym is pretty nice, particularly when it's hard to get out because of winter-weather. My family really appreciated having the amenity of being able to rent their own private nicely furnished apartment on-site, at a decent rate, when they came to visit. I've been a big fan of having the covered parking with the parking garages, as well as the heated corridors. Most of all I have really enjoyed the central location; North City 6 is central in proximity to most of the primary attractions in North Raleigh, including North Hills, Whole Foods, 540 & 440, and many restaurants. If you like to go out for early morning runs, there are many unique routes to take from the location, I'm going to miss 10k morning runs down six forks and around the North Hills shopping area. I'd definitely recommend looking into renting at this complex. I would stay longer too, if I didn't get a new job, outside of the area, that has driven me to move. read more

So I currently live at NorthCity 6 and have a huge issue with this place. I have lived in about 6 different apartments within the last 6 years or so and have never lived in one with such terrible property manager. So I had an issue with a water leak in my bedroom that look pretty serious. I notified the property and they sent someone up that day (great). They left a note saying a contractor would be out to take a look. Two weeks go by and I see mold formulating around the wet spots and still do not have any response/update from property management. I call them back and let they know that no update has been given and then send an email making property management aware of the entire situation. They contact me back and send someone up in a day or two to cut a hold in the moldy spots. So I have two holes in my wall as my girlfriend who was visiting for the first time is coming into town. They come back after the weekend and fix the holes. Chris the property manager tells me he will give me a call Monday to answer my request for a deduction in rent/month free of rent. A week goes by and there is no call of-course. So I then call Chris back. He agreed to dropping the ball and they would take $250 off my rent for the month. If I never would have called them either time i'm sure someone would have came like two months later and I wouldn't have gotten a call. I said I was unhappy with the $250 and he said that's all he can do (I have a roommate, $125 each is nothing for the issue). I told him I was going to post this story on here and he told me he would respond to it stating my inaccuracies (one/two minor sentences not affecting the situation/or what I was going to type). He then re-read the letter and said he receives many complaints and he can't remember them all. He called me a blackmailer multiple times because I said I was going to post the story..I don't get how being accurate is blackmailing but ok. On top of this my roommate and I had people over a few days in a row and went swimming. The swimming pool had tons of bugs, HUGE hair clumps and white stuff floating on top. Not just in one area everywhere. It was the most disgusting pool I had ever been in. I told Chris about this also and he again said I am blackmailing (though accurate witnessed by at-least 4 people and I'm sure there were tons of other people who noticed who won't take the time to post). He also said they're going through a salt-water change which is why...that happened like 2 and a half months ago...but okay. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, I plan on opting out of my lease as soon as I find another place. I had asked to be let out of it due to the moldy mess in my bedroom but I was told I'm crazy for expecting that..If you like non-responsive property management and a dirty pool this is the place for you! This is a nice apartment complex, have't had too many issues. The only thing I can complain about is the parking garage!! It is very poorly designed. I've had multiple scratches on my car from people hitting my car with their door from the spots being too small. I ruined the side of my car from hitting the concrete columns, but the spots are so small its almost impossible to miss them when you back out. Even though this is the only complaint I have, it will make or break my decision to stay. read more

My husband and I have lived at North City 6 Apartments for slightly over a year now, and we are very proud to call this beautiful community our home. The buildings and grounds are well maintained, and it really is a lovely community. Both the office and the maintenance staff are professional and friendly, and service requests are handled in a timely manner. North City 6 is conveniently located in midtown Raleigh and is beautifully sequestered in a wooded setting even though the apartments are close to shopping and restaurants, thereby making North City 6 a hidden jewel. read more

I'm a new resident to this community and I love it here! The location could not be better - I'm so close to I-440 and I-540, not to mention shopping, dining, and downtown Raleigh is only minutes away! The staff is so accommodating and knowledgeable, the property is so clean, and my apartment is awesome! I love the covered garages; and since the entrances to all the apartment buildings (either through elevators, stairways, or doorways) are controlled by key-fobs, I feel very safe knowing that only other residents (and guests) are able to enter my building. The high ceilings and crown mouldings are so nice, and I love the double sinks in my bathrooms. I LOVE my kitchen and all the windows throughout my apartment - not to mention my deck and my "Juliet" balcony. The amount of natural light I get during the day is amazing! The nightly trash and recycling pick-up is such a great perk, not to mention the coffee bar in the media/game room. I can't wait to use the pool table and the fitness room -- I can even attend yoga classes here! The pool and outdoor grilling/eating areas look so inviting, I can't wait for summer! read more
