Have taken our dog and our current cat to this vet clinic. What I will always remember was the care and dignity shown when we had to decide to put down an older cat who had a second stroke. Could not expect more of a vet. read more

That's how much I love this vet, I've been done over by others. But from now on I'm taking all my pets and family's pets there! And from Zoe; meow you and you guys are purrrrrrefect!! It's personable; approachable; human. We'd been using a competing vet on Lygon Street and found them to be less so, and constantly pushing expensive insurance plans whilst giving hypochondriacal diagnoses. So we changed vets and gave Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic a chance. First impressions? It's busy. Busy and efficient. The crowd dispersed after a few minutes but it gave us a chance to see what it's like here when they're under pressure, and it was a relaxed environment. There's a dog side and a cat side to this place, and decorated accordingly. Our own little fur-ball doesn't travel well and gets a bit nervous in new places, but this was as good as we could hope for, given our in-and-out 'check up' we were there for. We were kept waiting for half an hour beyond our allotted time, but I suspect we arrived at the tail-end of a particularly busy period. Before long, we'd completed the forms and were ushered in to see a very friendly, plain-speaking vet who never once attempted to sign us up to an insurance plan, or push anything other than an honest verdict on how little Samson was doing. And he's doing just fine. We left really satisfied with the experience and confident we made the right change.

We even found a stray kitten there when we were looking to adopt, and they handled everything. Each visit I was made to believe that I was getting this huge discount which I was made to feel grateful for. But this place cost me a fortune . The receptionist was very sweet. But she directed me to give the wrong medication to my pup and I had to correct her. When I finally took my pup to another vet, they gave him the full bill of health. This is a small practice so don't expect bells and whistles in the facility for example, but rather personalised friendly professional and genuine care, kindness and skill. With a policy of no bookings other than for procedures, I have been surprised by a very low waiting time compared to other veterinary practices I have attended in Melbourne's suburbs. I was also amazed by the stitching skill on my pooch after surgery - I think a plastic surgeon couldn't have left any less of a scar or straighter a line. Although we first think of this as only cosmetic it made a huge difference to the comfort of my dog and therefore her healing time as she wasn't always licking or scratching as they often do when wounds are irritating them.

She told me to wait for a month to see if it would subside but I was too anxious so she said we could take out the growth and biopsy it. I was so grateful. She really understood my needs as well as my puppy. Today the procedure was done and my dog is fine. We have to wait for the biopsy result but I am confident that I am in good hands. Anne Nevill has been great with other matters too. The previous time I had been to another vet who told me my dog had cancer and needed his anal glands removed. I came to Anne for a second opinion and it turned out that my dog had an infected anal gland and she lanced it and gave him antibiotics and he was fine. NO cancer. How about that... So I cant praise her enough. She certainly knows her stuff and is a pleasure to deal with and a life saver.... The staff too are lovely and the whole environment is friendly and relaxed. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Beautiful, silky coat and no rash. I adopted all my animals when they were older and she helped me to make their lives as healthy and enjoyable as possible. She performed crucial ligament operation and recommended a great rehab for my dog. When there was time to say goodbye to my gorgeous fur babies, she performed that with so much care and thought and made the last moment less painful. I really love what she does and who she is. They do have catteries they recommend, however. Simply, they love cats and it shows.
