I cannot have MRIs because of my pacemaker so an ex ray had to suffice. After an examination, it was determined a hip replacement was required. Covid has not made scheduling surgery a simple task so an appointment was made for August 8. The pain became unbearable so I begged to move it up. Denise, the Dr's right hand woman jumped thru hoops to move the surgery to July 27. On July 22, my old appendix decided it was time to go so instead getting a new hip, I lost an organ! This delayed the replacement until 9/9. I cannot say enough about Dr. Hall and his staff. Not only did he do a splendid job on my hip, he relieved gout in my foot and elbow, shoulder pain and recently knee pain. He is kind, straightforward, dedicated and an all around awesome man. 2020 has been a pretty crazy year for all of us. If you're in pain and need excellent care, Dr. Hall and his wonderful staff will provide the best possible. I've never spent more than 10 minutes waiting which is almost unheard of in today's world.

My sister had a broken leg, and she started having pain in her leg - a CLEAR sign of deep vein thrombosis. She went in to see Dr. Robert F Hall and told him the pain and he waved it off as "part of her cold" (I know because she told me personally Dr. Hall said not worry about it). Several days later, she died of a blood clot, something that could've been easily prevented had Dr. Hall paid attention. And not only that, but their only reaction to the situation was to call and try to deny responsibility by denying my sister ever told him about the pain (false, she told us in person Dr. Hall said "not to worry about it"). My sister left behind a 6 month old child that is now growing up without a mother, and her husband. They will never get to be a complete family because of Dr. Hall's negligence. My sister is dead because Dr. Hall couldn't be bothered to pay attention to an obvious symptom of deep vein thrombosis and this practice's only reaction was to categorically deny any responsibility. He also has a previous medical citation against him for operating on the wrong ankle of one of his patients (Iowa Board of Medicine File No. 02-14-0211). I believe Dr. Robert F Hall should retire from medicine before he hurts anyone else.

The doctor was rude to my son telling him he better sit down and not touch anything. He never took the splint off that the ER put on to check the arm he just looked at the xrays and said he should wear the splint for 5 weeks and it will heal on it's own. I was upset when I heard because he is 7 years old boy...I can't keep an eye on him 24 hours if he falls he has no cast just a splint... so I called the dr and I left a message and he never called me back. Next day...my son was standing outside and someone bumped into him and my son fell. He hurt his arm more, but if he had a cast on he would have been fine. My husband called up this dr and told him what happened and the doctor accused my son of "fighting around or horse playing" my husband said NO he wasn't he was standing minding his business. Dr said, well, Idk what to do I can't do anything take him to the ER. The next day I took him to another orthopedic dr and he was so nice and attentive to my son and put a cast on no questions asked. I feel, that this doctor didn't give my son the care that he needed because we have All Kids insurance (government insurance) because Idk how a doctor could be in business for any amount of time when he treats patients like that.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt called back at 8:35am on Tuesday morning got stayed on hold (opted not to wait for a call back) approx 40 min and finally spoke to receptionist who told us that she would be contacting Dr. Holtkamp's office and that someone would call us back in the afternoon. Again we gave them the benefit of the doubt, and since no one had called back we tried again just after noon Wednesday this time we went ahead and stayed put in for a call back the indication was 40 min., however the phone did not ring for over 2hr 45min and sadly my wife as not able to answer in time. They left a message that put us back in the cycle. I called back and this time I waited until someone picked up her name was Rebecca, she promised that she would follow up herself and call back the next morning. As of 12:07 we have now been on hold for another 1 hour waiting for someone to pick up. Epic disregard for patient care. My wife has been without pain medication since the injury since the medicine that she was given caused her to itch, the hand on the arm that the fracture is in continues to swell. Along with a dozen other patients, we sat for over an hour. My appointment began at 5:10. After changing into their "shorts" and completing my radiographs, the MD came in at 5:20 to discuss my rads and was gone in 10 minutes. I understand a "short visit". There wasn't much to say at this annual. It's the wait time that was aggravating, especially when there was not a single apology nor even a lie like "he had an emergency".
