Northern leasing systems has been calling me repeatedly, telling me that they're filing a lawsuit against me. I'm not a business owner. I have not borrowed or leased any sort of equipment from anybody. I don't know what in the world they're contacting me about. I feel like this is all a big scam. I was able to match the phone number to the business through multiple website searches across several different search engines. I received several voicemails in the past few weeks from them. The reps all identify themselves as being with northern leasing systems. They keep telling me that there's a lawsuit against me and that it will be filed in the next 48 hours unless I contact them immediately. I do not know if this has happened to anyone else, with all the calls and voice mails. To say the least it's very annoying. I would STRONGLY recommend anyone to NOT have any dealings whatsoever with Northern Leasing. They are underhanded, rude, and very under the table sly. We have leased equipment from Northern Leasing for 4 years and at the end of the term when we called to cancel, it was a horrible experience. AND they end up charging us another month, a restocking fee (which the equipment is 4 years old and pretty well obsolete now) AND charging us to return the obsolete equipment. When I looked up North American Processing Systems for scams, I found none. I felt maybe this actually was a decent company to work with for our merchant services. I was horribly wrong. They are just a shell sales organization, designed to hide the real company, Northern Leasing Systems in New York (which if you look them up, tons of scams and 1-star reviews pull up). I wanted to cancel our contract because of non-performance on their behalf. They didn't set the machine up with the correct software, so we weren't able to use the machine for a few weeks. When the tried to fix the machine, they couldn't. They promised to send someone over with a new one, but never did. To this day, I'm not sure what we've actually been charged, because I haven't received a statement, and I was told by one of the reps (when I questioned them about my bank statement) they are charging a $10.00 fee for payment statements that I haven't received. I told them I would go online to look at them (Quickbooks Merchant Services allows me to do that), but when they sent me the links, the links did not work, or the password I just updated would fail. I cannot access the online system! They never set up auto-batching, so all of our credit card transactions were lost when they tried to update the softawre on the equipment. I specifically asked if that would erase my current transactions, and they said no (wrong! I'm still trying to get paid from customers who are frustrated that they provided payment, and now I'm coming back to say I need it again). They didn't get the insurance I sent in 3 times, and are still charging me $4.95 per month. I was told if I wasn't satisfied, I could cancel at any time and pay a $150 fee. When I called to do that, they said it would be $2200 (the entire lease payment) or I could transfer the service to someone else (as if - I want to transfer crummy service to someone). read more

I started working for father's small business in the last two years only to find out that he had paid $5700+ to lease processing equipment that was bundled into his CC processing contract. You can buy this equipment for $157 out the door. When I asked for the address to send the equipment back I got lip service. No less than 10: "What do I have to do to get an address to send this equipment back" pleas, I finally got the address which is on their website anyway. Now, this is a story ALL ABOUT HOW MY LIFE GOT FLIPPED-TURNED UPSIDE DOWN, and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, and I'll tell you HOW we lost thousands of dollars. We began working with Northern Leasing through Platinum One LLC from Brookfield, WI. Platinum One LLC offers in-house payment program services - however, they do NOT provide the equipment necessary to process such transactions. Instead, they set us up with this worthless company to lease POS equipment. As a separate company, we were required to pay separate fees. We initially agreed on $109 per month for the next 4 years. BUT of course they failed to mention that insurance, tax, invoice fees AND an annual fee were not included in the amount we had agreed upon. These extra charges increased my monthly payment to $140, resulting in a grand total of $6,720 after the four year term. Come to find out, after some research, the total cost of the POS equipment is roughly about $350 online! RIP OFF! Story continues. After six months, not a single client, out of several that applied for financing, were approved by Platinum One LLC. This of course resulted in our inability to make any use of the POS equipment. I decided to cancel services with Platinum One LLC, as they were of no service to me or my clients. When I asked them what I should do about the unused equipment, they basically said "Not our problem." Needless to say, we took action against this company. We hired a lawyer for about $1,500 and ended up regretting that as well. The lawyer was not very helpful and wasn't able to achieve what we wanted. I decided to call Northern Leasing in hopes of coming to some sort of FAIR agreement. Little did I know, this call was going to cost me MORE than just a headache. At this point, we had been paying $140/per month for about 20 months. After several conversations with a number of different representatives, we were not able to come up with an agreement that would benefit both parties. We eventually stopped making payments and after a period of time, Northern leasing took notice. We began receiving letters in the mail and numerous calls. Almost every single representative that called was extremely rude and offensive. They threatened us with a law suit and simply refused to figure out some sort of agreement. I tried getting a hold of couple lawyers at this point, but had no luck and was getting nowhere fast. I decided to try Northern Leasing ONE last time. So I called and requested a buyout. Keep in mind, I had already paid this company WELL OVER $2,800 for some POS equipment that was still new in a box - UNTOUCHED! I spoke to a few representatives in their "Collections Department" and finally ended up with Herbert. NOW this guys is as BAD as it gets. But did I really expect anything different? NO. We started at about $4,000 for the buy-out - and here was his "deal" - if I returned the POS equipment, I would ONLY be required to pay $3,500! WHAT!? CRAZY!! This back and forth discussion went on for weeks! Herbert made it so difficult for us to come to a "fair agreement." He was extremely difficult to speak with and absolutely rude and condescending. In the end, I was able to miraculously get the price down to $2,800. I just wanted out. I didn't want to deal with a lawsuit or damage my good credit any more than what they had already done. I made the payment - which I still feel was completely UNJUST and finally ended the relationship with this despicable company. NEVER AGAIN. Thanks for helping small businesses of America. This should have been the first sign of something fishy but again, I was green and knew nothing. I am the exact person these people pray upon. I explained to Bancard that I had a 3 year office lease so figured a 3 year contract would be fine. Little did I know - actually I DIDN'T know at all that the company they sent me to to lease my machine from - NORTHERN LEASING COMPANY - would charge me $1200 over a period of FOUR YEARS for a $300 machine!! YES you read correctly. Recently my bank offered me a FREE machine with --- no contract that does accept debit cards and that offers free local support!!! Being a very small business that's barely making ends meet and only in it to help the "little guy" I jumped. However Bancard charged me $400 for breaking my lease 6 months early and Northern Leasing is charging me over $800 for the next year and a half when I won't be using their machine at all. Northern Leasing working with Harbortouch to rip small business owner and doesn't give a xxx to the customers at all Here is my story: I called Harbortouch on August 31, 2019 & informed them that my business will close permanently on September 01, 2019. Customer Services Rep indicated that everything will be taking care of. I wait until 09/10/2019 not thing had been done on Harbortouch end. got on the phone and they finally send me a merchant account cancellation form via email & I electronically agree and send it back to them. Today 10/03/2019 got two automated bank withdraw 1) $76.30 processing fees from Harbortouch for September used???? 2) $143.00 for leasing equipment from Northern Leasing ???? call to Northern Leasing and informed about the charges and they said their services had nothing to do with Harbortouch and charges will stand. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Read the fine print!! They couldn't upgrade my equipment when the the protocols changed. Then when the equipment broke 1 month out of the expiration of my contract. Instead of waiting 5 days for a new credit card machine, since my contract was almost up I moved to Clover who were able to overnight me a new machine. They charged me a $150 restocking free for a credit card machine that was antiquated and not irreparable. Then, once they received the equipment, they claimed that it wasn't the equipment that they sent me 5 years before and that I would have to continue to paying lease payments until I could return the appropriate equipment. Funny thing is that the only equipment that I ever used in that location was the equipment that I returned to them. They refuse to let you talk with a supervisor or manager and completely bully you on the phone. The Leasing company blames the merchant services company and the other way around so you cannot make any progress. We have not used their equipment in YEARS, but nobody in the office could figure out where the equipment was initially generated from, because they do not send ANY information once you sign up, no updates, no contact. We literally had no clue who to send the equipment back to. FFWD to the passing of the owner of the company, upon accessing bank files we see a recurring monthly charge that was buried. They continued to charge $100 a month for an account we weren't aware needed closed. They refused to return any of the monies for the previous years which is one thing, but then they REFUSED to return anything even with proof of the death certificate or even proof that the practice was sold! How terrible can your business model be to even refuse funds when a person passes?! The best part was, every person I spoke with in the Asset management department were uneducated and had terrible customer service skills. I called several times trying to access a manager or any form of upper management in the company and they made it known that "they do not field phone calls." I didn't want them to filed the call, I wanted to speak to someone with at least half a brain that could assess the account and the situation I am trying to deal with. They then told me I could file a complaint via e-mail and someone would get back to me, so I did. They responded promptly, but it was not management, again, it was a bottom of the totem pole employee in the same call center I had placed numerous calls to previously.
