Looking to switch practices, because I don't pay to be treated with the outmost disrespect. I also had an issue with Dr. Joshi Silpa, who has her own practice now, because she was very dismissive of my issues (i.e., excessive hair loss - I lost 1/3 of it, weight I cannot lose, Hashimoto's, iron issues, fatigue) and stated I should see a dietitian. I just needed medication to help me survive, but don't come here if you want optimal levels or you want to truly thrive. read more

I had bad experience with another endocrinologist and found Dr Joshi and her practice. I did not go in with very high expectations given the mixed reviews online, however, I have been pleasantly surprised with the positive experience so far. Communication - Dr Joshi is extremely responsive in the online messaging portal, and so does the staff. There was once I could not locate an MRI order and I shoot her a message in the morning, she replied in the afternoon informing me it was just issued and uploaded to the portal. This is something I am still in awe with the medical system. We are in 2023 and we are primarily still calling back and forth the doctor's office. Endocrinology is complex but I feel that Dr Joshi does a good job in explaining my diagnosis in lament terms and outlining the treatment plan. She is also practical in the sense that if there is no need for follow up or further testing, she will let you know and not waste your time. My previous doctor insisted on regular visits with no concrete goals and plans which I felt was a waste of medical resource and my deductible. I have overall had good experience with their front desk staff. It can be hard to reach them some time, but they are generally easy to reach early in the morning or right after lunch at 1pm. read more

When I addressed her behavior, she hung up the phone on me. I've been seeing Dr. Rogacz for over 8 years for Thyroid and Type 2 Diabetes. I was referred to her by my GP, since she's the best around. She's always been very caring, listens to my questions, and gives me good advice (and tough "love" when necessary). Unlike most doctors who have been judgmental when talking about my weight, she took time to explain the physiological reasons why someone with type 2 should work to lower their weight. No judgment. Although I am seeing the doctor mainly via virtual visits, I've had some negative experiences with their office staff. Not enough for me to search for another doctor, but they can be brusque. I read through a number of other reviews here, and am reminded of opt-in bias. People with a complaint are those who most frequently comment. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Rogacz for a long time. She is kind, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. She communicates very well and answers questions to make sure I understand my treatment options. I really appreciate her usage of technology whether it's meeting virtually, or communicating via email. I've never had an issue getting in contact with her or her office when I needed her. One thing to note is that it may be difficult to get an in person visit. If I need to see her right away schedule a virtual visit and at the same time schedule an in-person visit a couple of months later. read more

I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Antonik, which I had scheduled months in advance. The office changed my appointment to virtual. Seeing as I've never seen an endocrinologist in person, I wanted an in person visit. In spite of them changing the appointment to virtual, they could not reschedule me for months. I wish I had read some of these reviews before I wasted my time going in, If you read down further you will read a review that mentions a very rude MAN in the front office. I also had the same experience with him. I can't imagine why anyone would feel the need to be so rude to people but I was told "I don't need to hear your reasons why you don't have your records you just need to get them" Just to explain why! I have requested the records be sent to the office and as of now they had not received them. Not my fault. Most offices now have digital records and are able to allow us to sign off in their office and they can get access to all of our records. Maybe they need to update their systems. For the record I am a cancer survivor which means I have seen around 40 Doctors and Surgeons in my 53 years and I have never written a bad review. My one visit was one too many. read more

Update: Dr Poola Kella is now Dr Joshi. The nurses have improved vastly. I still miss Dr Ross's nurse, Candra, who I've been told went to get her nurse doctorate. Dr Joshi is warm, engaging, and thorough. Now that the nurse situation is stabilized, I am really appreciating this practice again. Also, easy parking and access to the office with excellent front desk staff. I have always liked them and they're the same crew as when Dr Ross was there. Good people. read more

Dr. Rogacz is famous across the country for her practice, but I waited 6+ months for an appointment just to be prescribed Yaz birth control after a 10 minute evaluation. Dr. Rogacz seemed like she was going through a script she rehearsed hundreds of times with other patients -- small talk regarding where I went to school/studied/worked, but you could tell she was barely paying attention. I'm not coming to a doctors to socialize, but it's to explain how cold the entire interaction was. But I digress... I mentioned two symptoms relating to PCOS and immediately I'm being prescribed a birth control that's KNOWN for horrendous side effects across 80% of patients. SIX YEARS LATER, I'm STILL dealing with the aftermath of this BC-- mood swings, hair loss, acne, anxiety, weight gain, etc etc etc. For a place that needs to STABILIZE HORMONES, they made my hormones worse than ever!!! I've been a completely different person since prescribed this birth control, and even after stopping it only 8 months later, I'm still dealing with the aftermath over half a decade later. Last thing-- my hormone levels were normal my entire life until coming to this practice. I took a blood test at my primary care doctor that had normal levels, but 6 months later after taking another blood test in this office, all my levels SUDDENLY either spiked or dipped... Doesn't make sense to me. I just can't get over all the good reviews and experiences here because mine was abysmal . read more

I have been seeing Dr Langley for almost six years for Type II diabetes and found him personable and professional and his treatment to be well-considered and effective. Recently, my wife acquired acute onset immunotherapy-induced insulin-dependent diabetes and had to be seen on an urgent basis. The no husband-wife policy was waived and Dr Langley saw her the next afternoon. He accepted what has turned into an unusually difficult case with wild sugar spikes. Many calls and emails to the practice followed and Dr Langley invariably responds to them promptly and thoughtfully. I can recommend Dr Langley without hesitation. read more

If you choose to do lab work outside of the office make sure you are clear where you want them to send the orders. I've had some mix up with that. The staff here has always been polite and friendly. I had no problem making an appointment here and was promptly sent paperwork to fill out prior to the visit. I had to cancel my first appointment due to going out of town and was given a little hard time about that. When coming back I was able to reschedule my visit and could get in within the next week. This place could be hard to find and it helped to look at the map before coming here. I have been a patient at this practice for over 10 years and I discovered that a treatment I was prescribed by one of the physicians in this practice has been shown to cause serious psychological issues - an issue that I suffered tremendously from. 5 stars for the medical treatment. Roughly 2 stars for the front office. Dr. Joshi is top notch and takes care of her patients. She suggested several things for me to try out which are bearing fruit. So, that's the good stuff. The Drs know their stuff. The bad? Their office staff and current "tele-medicine" only policy. It simply sucks. Look, I get that the Covid is a real deal. However, other practices have found ways around it. Innovate. There are real limits to tele-medicine and stuff that can't be handled without an in person visit. Also, not having in person appointments until March is UNSAT. Time to change the policies. They're ridiculous. Also, collecting the Copay 2 days before my appointment is UNSAT. When I called to discuss, I left a message. Their response: "That's just how it is". Payment should be collected at the time of the visit, not before. read more

I saw Dr. Langley for a weird borderline case of hashimoto's that I've been trying to get some resolution to for months. He was kind, informative and came to the same conclusion that two other endocrinologists have come to... that my thyroid issue is too slight to warrant medication. I liked him a lot - I even told him about the last endocrinologist I saw in the area, who was awful, and Dr. Langley agreed that this particular doctor had "a different style." New to the practice after changing insurances. I hand picked the endocrinologist that I wanted to see at this practice based on her newness in getting out of medical school and starting in the practice. I felt like Dr. Poola-Kella was very pleasant when I met her, very thorough in her exam of me both for the treatment of Diabetes and a rare genetic abnormality. She knew a lot about medications and that it was necessary to change to different dosages of one medication and adding in a completely new medication. Felt comfortable in what she was recommending at this time. After additional conversations with Dr. Poola-Kella, has led me to some significant concerns, particularly on the way once a decision has been made by her, there is no consultation with the patient about the patient's thoughts. Its what her recommendation is and only hers. Your doesn't matter even if you've had years worth of experience. I tend to believe that the best working relationship is one where the patient and the physician collaborate together on the best option when it involves the patient's condition and when the patient has more than 15 years of expertise on this particular condition. This may lead to seeing a different endocrinologist at this practice, but time will tell as to whether this physician will come around to working with the patient to make decisions that are mutually acceptable. Front desk staff was pleasant and efficient. Lab technician was efficient and completed my blood work very quickly, despite being busy. I would recommend this practice, not necessarily the newest doctor to this group, but time will tell! read more

LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR CARE New to Northern Virginia, I was referred to Dr. Rogacz by a mutual acquaintance, Dr. Lessin. Little did I know I was calling a practice with a 2-Star score with Yelp. The office refused to grant me an appointment as a new patient because I don't have a local Primary Care Doctor. When I explained to Chris that I have only been in Virginia for 10 days and have every intention of getting a Primary he said, "We don't care, it's been our policy for 30 years". Too bad I did not get to see any of the doctors at this practice. I tried to make an appointment after feeling that my current endocrinologist is not helping me address my thyroid disease. I called the office and the (male) person on the phone, first, asked me to wait (for about 10 min) and asked my why I want to see this doctor? I said, I have thyroid disease and my current doctor is not helping. So I want to see another doctor to find a better treatment. He replied: We don't give second opinions" in the most rude manner. I tried to explain why I need to see another doctor and he interrupted me saying "no, no no, we don't do that"... as if he knew anything about medicine or thyroid disease care. I told him: "you don't need to be rude, I need an appointment", he even said: "no, no ,no, you don't get to tell me not to be rude" I've never found administrative staff as rude as here!!! The female who answered the telephone was awful, she was rude and curt and an old fashioned gate keeper troll. I was referred by my GP to an Endocrinologist with the network I belong to nothing available until Sept. YIKES, wont make it that long.... Then she added " what would the doctors be seeing you for?" I said that I wasn't sure but that I had recently been put on a Thyroid Medicine and I think I need to see someone about hormones and weight loss... She jumps in cut me off with Mame, Mame, MAME.. we don't see patients for that and without a "Proper" diagnosis our doctors wont see you. SHE HUNG UP. What an awful person. Like I wasn't feeling bad enough. My GP put me on Antidepressants, a thyroid pill and anti anxiety (never before) and said get into see an endocrinologist right away. BAM...all booked up. Disclaimer: This review is regarding the office staff and phone receptionist, not the physicians. In attempting to schedule an appointment with Dr. Melissa Antonik (based on a recommendation from my Primary Care Physician) I was confronted with the following issues from the receptionist: 1. She was incredibly rude/terse and put me on hold for an exceptionally long time. She acted like it was bothersome to take my call. 2. She said that she would snail-mail me a packet of forms to fill out in advance, rather than offering to email me, or directing me to an online portal. Really? In this day and age? I guess their office has never heard of "Meaningful Use." 3. She stated that she could not request test results from my PCP because "they don't fax things and it wastes time." I was told that I had to go back to my PCP and the hospital to get my test results and bring them with me. As a former Practice Manager, these behaviors infuriate me; this is simply unacceptable. The docs at this practice could clinically be the best in the world for all I care, but I will not get beyond their front door because 1. Their processes suck, 2. They are obviously way behind the times technologically, and 3. They seem to have very lazy practice administration and clerical staff. Simply awful. If the docs are smart, they will work to remedy their technology and operational gaps and hire strong staff that will help them take care of patients, not scare them away. At some point, their bottom lines will make them wonder where the heck their volumes went. read more

I entered the office and there was about 8 people in the waiting room. I approached a rather rude and bitter receptionist that works for Dr. Langley. She was very aggressive in taking my $25 copay before the visit. Acting as if the practice might go bankrupt with the copay. Then, she asked me what I was being seen for. I whispered it rather low to her and she snaps back "here it is in the computer! You being seen for ______" In front of everyone in the waiting room. Carol the office manager needs to take a course on customer service. As I was on hold for 7:18 minutes, I was floored by the lyrics of the song that was playing. At first I thought I was hearing things but it was clear as day the third time I heard the lyric. The name of the song was Walk On The Wildside by Lou Reed. Really don't know why I'm as surprised, I have to jeep in mind, this is Virginia, home of the good Ole Boy's network. Maybe I was shocked because I was calling a DOCTOR'S office???? Once I got "Carol" on the line, I explained that I was referred by my doctor, that I needed to schedule for a thyroid biopsy, she insisted on me calling Fairfax Radiology. I asked her was there a reason she was making this request. She indicated, if I had not had a consultation yet I would be better off going there. When I asked her if she was refusing me services she tried to change her abrasive tone and asked what sort of insurance I had. By then I was not interested in using Northern VA Endocrinologists services. I began to explain to her how insulting the hold music was, as in the lyrics the artist used the words "Colored Girl". She extended no apology. I asked was the office manager available, she stated that would be her. I told her she needed to strongly consider the non usage of that CD. I received a referral from my primary care doctor. As a teenager I was treated for severe thyroid disease (that has a name so long I can't even remember.) One of the unual aspects of my disease is that my blood results were within normal limits then also. I was told the condition may return and I should tell the physician about the process of diagnosis before. When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said I must bring in my blood test results showing my disease condition. I explained that I had recent blood tests showing levels in normal ranges, but that I had previously been diagnosed with a thryroid condition and my symptoms were returning. The receptionist said "We're very busy here and we don't make diagnoses. We only treat patients after they have been diagnosed." That's not what is says on their website. I said "OK, can your office refer me to another endocrinologist who can diagnose me?" "No. I have other calls I have to take." Can I email a doctor at your office and ask for a referral? "We don't do email." Nuff said. read more

I recently saw Dr. Langley, as a first time patient to the practice, after spending about a year, and a lot of time and appointments with another practice. It was really easy to schedule an appointment online, which was followed up by a call from the office (Carol I believe) to confirm information and get things squared away. While it was a bit of time before I could get an appointment it was well worth the wait, and a completely different experience from the other practice, where you could get appointments the same week. Check-in was easy enough, as I arrived early, not knowing how bad traffic would be. The nurse took me about 15-20 minute BEFORE my appt was scheduled, which is probably a first in a doctors office. After the quick intake with her, Dr. Langley came in, again a few minutes before my actual appointment time. We talked through my issues, and what was going on, and the reasons I had switched practices. He quickly put my mind at ease and was very good about listening to my issues and being very clear about how he works and his philosophy. I was able to ask questions, and not feel like I wasn't being heard or that he was talking over me. Leaving the office, I felt very comfortable with him, and knowing a clear path forward with my condition. Checking out of the office was also a breeze, made the follow-up appointment for 6 months. The next day, received my tests results back with a clear note from the doctor. Overall, I've never had such a positive experience at a doctors office. I was very pleased to have found this office, and do not have any reservations about going back in the future and leaving behind the other practice. read more

Ok, so this review is a bit late, but better late than never (original appointment back in May). I had started to get a bit of swelling in my neck and although I would get a bit here and there as a teen, it had never gotten to the point where it made it uncomfortable to lay down or sleep. I had also been unusually tired and was having difficulty losing weight even though I was on a strict diet. SO... I went to my primary care who ordered an ultrasound. Low and behold there was a bump. She referred me to a Dr. Roy Langley and the same day I called in the referral and set the appointment. The day of the appointment came, I printed my insurance for the staff, was early for the appointment, waited my turn, and ended up spending all of 10 minutes with Dr. Langley (I should call him Roy--respect is earned, not given) only to be told... "you're just fat." Now look, yes, I'm a little on the thicker side, but I had not gained or lost any weight in months even though I was on a strict diet, I had told him this. I also told him my family has a long history of thyroid and hormone related medical issues. Even after making this point, knowing heart and soul something was wrong with my body, Dr. Langley, taking all of a minute to look over the ultrasound results and another to poke me in the neck, basically told me again, "you're just fat." No additional blood work ordered, nada. Well, ROY, I decided not to give up, to get a second opinion, and to see another physician in Ashburn. And you know what? After numerous tests, and a wonderful understanding, caring doctor actually taking the time to treat me like a fellow human being, in August I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am now on medication to help counter the symptoms, I'm awake and alert during the day, I'm losing weight (25 lbs so far!), and I feel like my old self again. To anyone looking to go to this facility, particularly women... Just... No. Save yourself the body shaming and disrespect and find another physician. read more

Dr Rogacz rushes me through appointments every time even after giving feedback on her form where she asks for feedback every time you come. Hard to get a word in edgewise. Nice and seems knowledgeable but pretty frustrated by now that she keeps doing the same thing and her practice won't let me switch to different doctor within the practice. There aren't many Endocronologists in the area so I feel pretty stuck. I want to switch to one of the others in the same practice who is informative and takes his time but forgot his name. read more

I have been with this practice for the past three years, and my experience with the entire office has been exceptional. I see Dr. Rogacz. I find her to be intelligent, pleasant, concerned, and very "in tune" with me as a patient. She asks questions about my medications, my chart, my family, and she truly listens. She is not hurried, but she does not waste time, either. Teresa, in the clinic area, is a joy. I see her for only a few minutes each time I go in but she is unfailingly delightful. The front office staff is friendly in person and over the phone, and I have never had any problem making an appointment or asking them for questions. I had been a patient of Dr. Ross, who recently retired and he was great. i talked about this with my internist who, based on my multiple conditions of thyroid cancer and multiple schlerosis recommended I seek an appointment with Dr. Langely (Dr. Ross partner). When I requested this appointment I was told my case was "sold" to a new Dr. and Dr. Langely couldn't see me. As this new Dr. is not FACP and has no track record I was forced to leave this practice. This practices behaviour indicates that they don't operate as a group practice, rather as individual Drs. only interested in their own financial health. How can a Dr. in a group sell my case to another? Why don't I have a choice of who I can make an appointment with? if I was a new patient, i could of made an appointment with Dr. Langely. I can't recommend this group due to these ethical concerns. read more

Dr. Rogacz has been my doctor for more than 5 years now and I can't say enough wonderful things about her and the staff at Northern Virginia Endocrinologists. They are attentive and understanding to a busy lifestyle. She must be well liked because appointments are usually 4-6 weeks out so if you know that going in and plan accordingly. Dr. Rogacz also cares very much about her patients, and goes way above and beyond than her normal scope of medical care to make sure you're healthy. I'd recommend anyone who needs an Endocrinologist to see Dr. Rogacz. read more

Was having a blood sugar issue for several months and after discussing with my doc, received a referral for this place. Looked like they had good doctors, but I'll never know because when I called, the receptionist literally told me I didn't have a good enough reason to make an appointment. If I wanted to see anyone, I should ask my doctor to call and "Maybe they'll make an exception". The pure rudeness of a receptionist assuming that my reason "isn't good enough" after a 30 second conversation, and completely ignoring a written referral from my doctor is incredible. My issue is personal, and it's not as though I wanted to explain personal details and months of conversations to an office worker over the phone. Why is this place letting the receptionists make medical decisions? Why are these receptionists even still working here? I see a lot of other complaints written here regarding the admin staff. I completely understand if there aren't appointments available, and even if they want to vet people who are "doctor-hopping" or making appointments for an issue they can't help, but it is absolutely disrespectful to both the patient and other doctors to not accept an appointment through a referral with "it's not good enough" as the reason. I will not be making an appointment. I will be asking my doctor to visit an office without terrible receptionists. I don't care how good the doctors are, if every conversation to make an appointment was going to be this rude and inconsiderate, I didn't want to have anything to do with the office. read more

I just called the practice to see if I could make an appt with either Dr. Rogacz or Dr. Langley and was told that I cannot make an appt with a different doctor in the practice if I have already seen one of them. I hated this office before I even walked in the front door. The receptionist who scheduled my appt CHASTISED me for being out of town and unable to come in the next day for what my referring doctor told me was not urgent and just "something to follow up on." The receptionist told me it was urgent, and I needed to come in immediately, which, obviously, got me VERY scared. After speaking with 2 doctors in my referring practice, I was assured it was NOT urgent and that the receptionist was way out of line. When I called the day before my appt to ensure that they had received the blood work from my referring doctor, the receptionist told me she would have to walk across the office to check. I said I would hold. She said "we got a sheet of paper." I said "does it have the information you need?" she sighed and said "I don't know! You didn't tell me to check for that!" I told her that since SHE in fact worked there, wouldn't it be common sense for her?! I walked in with ample time before my appt with all my paperwork filled out. Good thing they insist on your early arrival since there were no employees there, and no clients in the waiting room. Once people finally noticed I was there, I was asked for my paperwork and given ANOTHER form, stating that if I needed my prescription refilled, I would have to pay $15 (which, fyi, I'm pretty sure is illegal). Finally got to Dr. Rogacz, who was nice enough, although pretty chatty about her personal life. She explained thyroid disease and pregnancy well, but didn't talk about the implications of it, what the next steps would be, etc- just promptly handed me off to a lab tech for more blood work. Left feeling rushed and uninformed (which, I should have advocated for myself more, but it's a lot to take in, especially when you are already emotional about it). I will wait to get my lab results and see if the doctor steps up to the plate, but overall, I'm very un-enthused about this practice where the overall attitude I get is "why are you here interrupting our cell phone conversations and unprofessional chatter about my uncle's ex wife's baby daddy (which, literally, I heard the receptionists talking about while I waited and waited and waited for my appt)." After having repeated problems with this office in scheduling appointments and getting blood work orders, my wife, who is five months pregnant, was denied by the office staff from seeing the doctor since traffic was worse than usual and she was literally five minutes late after driving an hour to the office.
