There was a severe storm in DC today, and it took me a full hour to reach my appointment at the endocrinology group. I arrived exactly 10 minutes late, only to be told I couldn't be seen and would need to reschedule. I kindly asked if they could check with Dr. Brinda Manchireddy to see if she might still be able to fit me in. The receptionist did check, but returned with the same response: I'd need to reschedule. Unfortunately, the drive home took over an hour as well. Navigating through such difficult weather is challenging enough--but doing it with a painful back made the experience even more exhausting. read more

I don't normally connect with doctors and when I do I follow them forever. Dr Dmitriy Stasishin, DO is amazing! Super personable and believes in getting to the root of the matter and above all he LISTENS and ASKS QUESTIONS. I have had abnormal thyroid lab results for nearly two decades. It was especially difficult while I was pregnant in 2006/2007 but my endocrine doctor at the time (who I loved) moved to New Jersey. For the first time in a long, I feel seen and heard and I am not subjected to endure... there is a diagnosis and a plan. I have referred two of my girlfriends to Dr Stasishin. read more

Unprofessional front desk staff! An existing patient turned away without warning I am leaving this review on behalf of my mother, an existing patient at this practice. She had an appointment scheduled weeks in advance, and at no point during the booking process were we informed of any outstanding balance. When she arrived, a front desk staff member named Camila refused to allow her to be seen until an old bill (over two years old) was paid in full. This was never communicated beforehand, despite my mother having been seen by this office multiple times since that bill was incurred. Turning away a patient at the door with no prior notice is not only unprofessional, it is a failure in basic patient care. If a balance was owed, the time to address it was when the appointment was being scheduled, not at the front door. Camila was disrespect beyond belief, she physically snatched my mother's cell phone from her hand to tell me what was owed. This kind of treatment is absolutely unacceptable. My mother is an elderly patient who came to this office in good faith to receive medical care she needed and was turned away like she was nobody. It is disgraceful, it is cold, and it reflects a complete lack of basic human decency. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I left a message the other day & received a call back the same day from a super helpful employee who walked me through the process of booking a new patient appt. Then today, after my PCP sent over the required referral, I was able to immediately book an appt via another helpful and friendly member of the staff (i.e., there was no lag between the office receiving the referral & being able to book an appt; the appt itself is about 6 weeks away). I'm providing this review because I was a little hesitant to try this office based on other Yelp reviews, but as I couldn't find another provider with availability for a new patient for 6+ months I decided to give it a go... so far, so good, & based on other reviews I'm expecting a positive experience with Dr. Stasishin! read more

Posting on behalf of my spouse. Dr. Dmitriy Stasishin is the best endocrinologist I have seen in 25 years of treating my type II diabetes. He takes the time to listen and to explain everything. He is clear, patient, and really knows what he is talking about. He worked with me over the course of three months as we modified my treatment plan to develop a personalized treatment plan that took my age, genetics, activity level, and history into account. My A1C and blood sugar are completely under control and stabilized. I absolutely recommend him to anyone who needs an endocrinologist. read more

I wanted an appointment with Dr. Huang in late August, as she was my endorsement for about 10 years. I have Klinefelter Syndrome, and need testosterone. Her next available appointment was SEVEN MONTHS LATER! But then they said a new doc was available THE NEXT DAY! I obviously chose him, Dr. "Dmitri" (his last name is almost unpronounceable). I liked him a lot. Now I am trying to make a new spot with him, after following his directions about waiting a week after my last testosterone shot and getting my blood tested. When I returned to their office to get my blood tested, they rejected the order at first "because it's not in the system." THEY WROTE THE ORDER TO START WITH!!! Anyway, after about 10 minutes it magically got into the system. Then to get my blood tested, by a woman who sounded like she had a cold. read more

I have been in the Northern VA area and commuting home for years for my T1D care and I FINALLY have found a terrific endocrinology practice to help me in the NoVA area. It was incredibly easy to get scheduled with them (they have either online or via telephone scheduling options available) and I was able to get in relatively quickly (1 month) with Dr. Dmitriy Stasishin. He was absolutely EXCELLENT and really gave me helpful advice and recommendations regarding my T1D care. Their portal system is a little clunky to use as a patient, but I have had goo response from the provider and staff via the portal for any of my concerns. If you are looking for a good Endocrinology provider in the NoVA area, I say, look no further! read more

This review is solely for the Receptionists/individuals working at the front desk. Although the clinical staff is great, the staff up front openly mocked me and was degrading me where I could hear. As a longterm patient of this practice, it is disheartening that the employees up front show such a high level of disrespect for patients. Specifically, I had a billing problem, which I said I was resolving, and I heard them say "Just cancel all of her appointments, this is ridiculous, I doubt she will." I then approached them, where only then they actually gave advice on how to handle it with insurance. They could have done that to begin with, without the degrading experience. read more

I am so happy that I was referred to Dr. Khatiwada at The Endocrinology group. She is so professional, friendly, takes her time to interpret results, discuss them, and answer all my questions. I have a pretty complex situation as well as a family history of thyroid issues, and really needed support from a doctor that could talk me through many scenarios of what was going on with me. With her help, I was able to keep my condition controlled and for the first time in nearly a decade, didn't need to take certain medications and do a yearly MRI. She was also very responsive and great at conversation over the patient portal, which helped to build trust and the patient-doctor relationship about my condition. I was so disappointed to hear that is relocating to another city and was leaving the clinic in Jan 2024 as I had been seeing her for two years. The office space itself was easy to find and park and was clean and comfortable, but I'm not sure if I want to go back and see another doctor there as the reviews are not that great. I hope Dr. Khatiwada comes back to the area soon! read more

Don't bother trying to make a new patient appointment with Dr. Donohue. The office is seldom available to answer the phone, does not return voice messages, and there are no available appts for new patients for 7 months. I left a voice message on the office machine on 12/5 - no return call. Left a message with their answering service on 12/8 and was told their office was closed for a holiday party - no return call. Called on 12/12 and was told by their answering service that the office was having power issues. read more

**ONE star for front office, FIVE for the doctor** I thought it was weird that they required a referral from my primary care doctor, especially since my insurance doesn't require referrals for specialists. They would not schedule my appointment until they received the referral letter. I didn't know why they would not reserve it and then cancel it if I never sent the letter. BUT, I was just happy they didn't want a full panel like every other endo office I called. My original appointment was going to be August 30, which isn't that bad for seeing a specialist. I called after my PCP sent the letter (she's awesome) and it moved to September 1. I know it's a couple days but still. But it turns out I could get a last minute cancellation appointment with the newly hired Dr. Puniya Khatiwada in July. I arrived for my appointment and checked in, though the front office staff was a little odd. The thermostat is broken so I'm sweating. The actual doctor took her time with me, listened, and gave me sound advice (as well as ordering blood work). I really liked Dr. Khatiwada--she didn't judge that I hadn't seen an endo since middle school and didn't just write it off as a "weight problem." She suggested to NOT use their lab because they don't take appointments. I got the blood work and the results came in via email from Lab Corp. I requested a virtual appointment or just a message through the portal for interpretation. I got a call on Friday evening to make a virtual appointment for Monday. Monday comes, I get no link. I call and they said my appointment was in person. Uh, no....I wouldn't have made it for the middle of the day on a Monday (I even said on the call on Friday that I needed a certain time because I had another appointment that day) in FALLS CHURCH (nowhere near me) if it was in person. Front office argues with me for a good 10 minutes and threatens a late fee. I am not getting a late fee for ya'll's mistake. I asked her if the doctor can see me anyways (because I had an appointment regardless) and they said "Oh, you'd have to be squeezed in" -- but she would have had to have seen me if I came in???? UGH. But, yes, the doctor saw me virtually (eventually) and it was fine. I'm doing more blood work to monitor my levels. Hoping to get some answers soon. read more

Just before the end of my visit, the physician who treated me said that he will be leaving the Endocrinology Group practice as of 31 Dec 2023. It's too bad that his patients who see him between now and then will be dealing with their doctors "short timers" attitude of wanting to coast his way out rather than being as involved as his patients need him to be. Dr. Donohue is wonderful but the operations at the office are terrible. Today I had an appointment scheduled for 8:40. I arrived at 8:45, paid my copay and was quickly brought back to the room around 8:50. At this point they told me that my appointment was halfway over and there wasn't time for me to see the doctor. They wanted to reschedule for an hour later. Yes, I was late but I should still be able to be seen by the doctor- a 5 minute delay should not cause my appointment to be canceled. I called later in the day to have my copay refunded because I didn't end up seeing the doctor and the appointment an hour later didn't work for me. When I called they lectured me about needing to be on time which I responded saying I was within the 10 minute grace period and the woman on the phone said "we don't have a grace period" which is in direct contrast to the phone call I got at 8:43 saying I had until 8:50 to arrive or the appointment would be rescheduled. My copay receipt is time stamped as 8:47 so I definitely made it and should have been seen. The office staff is rude and as a patient I should have more than a 20 minute slot to be seen by the nurses, technicians and doctors. They have not always been like this but it seems that they are more concerned about making as much money as possible instead of caring for their patients. read more

Left phone calls to no return phone call and once I did get through the person I spoke with seemed very distracted and inattentive, and seemed reticent to tell me when the next appointment might be and when she finally did it was beyond 7 months. I was a patient at this practice and I went for a appointment to have blood work drawn 3 months postpartum. The doctor I was with left the practice and nobody called me to tell me the results of my tests. I was told basically during the visit no news was good news/if we needed to adjust doses we would so I just continued to take the same dosage of medication. Come to find out that when my results came back, they were not ideal and I was on the wrong dosage of medication. I have been on the wrong dose for months now. I called and they admitted it was a mistake they should have reached out. Now, instead of bringing me in again for labs they want me to come in to see a doctor again (absolutely, totally pointless) which means I'll have to pay them more money and find childcare. I'm not at all impressed and will be finding another practice ASAP. They let me slip through the cracks-- they have lost my trust completely. read more

My internist recommended Dr Donohue, I was very sick but worried about dealing with an endocrinologist. Other doctors I had seen were very negative and made you feel guilty. Dr Donohue has been nothing but positive which has made me more interested in trying to maintain my numbers. I have never felt rushed; without disclosing patient names he will talk about practices others have used to deal with compliance issues. I can see he is really listening to my concerns. I drive 100+ miles each way; over 2 hours each way to see Dr Donohue. It is so worth it! read more

I came here for thyroid treatment. I was feeling ok when I came here, my primary care doc referred me. After a year of being a patient they changed my T3/T4 combo and I felt worse. I continued to tell them that & they kept not listening. Referred me to Natropath Doc & Natropath confirmed what I knew about my thyroid treatment. She referred me to ONLY see Dr. Donahue here. She said I'm not the only one other practitioners here have only medicated so their thyroid tests well (not actually performs well). I'm upset over spending $ and time here for a year only to be told this. I'm seeing Dr Donahue soon now. Will be happy to report back if my review changes at that point. read more

I came to this practice in mid-2021 after my prior Endocrinologist, Dr. Tanen, retired. I am a T1D Diabetic for more than 34 years. Dr. Donohue is the best Endocrinologist I've ever had during my 34 years of seeing Endocrinologists. And that's not because I've had a poor track record. It's because Dr. Donohue is that good. During my appointments, I am not rushed through seeing Dr. Donohue. He spends a lot of time with me, listening to me and filling me in on the latest or newest technologies when I ask. He personally follows up with test results very quickly. I feel very fortunate to have him as my Endocrinologist and would recommend him to any diabetic looking for a caring and intelligent Endocrinologist. read more

Have been a patient of Dr. Go's now for a few years and it's made a world of difference for me. Very happy with her, the staff, and the whole practice. Yes. This is a very busy practice. It's also a specialist. So chances are you aren't going to be able to drop in here at a moment's notice and rescheduling appointments can be difficult to get something soon. So you adjust and I make getting to my appt every 3 months the priority over other things. But sometimes it's just not possible. I had to miss and appointment once and it was a few months before I could get another - between my schedule and Dr. Go's. When I did get in and explained that my crazy job sometimes means I'm on travel on short notice - she said just to call the office and she could at least do the order for my regular bloodwork (which they take right there in the office) so I could at least come in and do that on schedule. Sure not as good as getting to sit down with her, but a appreciate the accommodating nature because sometimes life does happen. A lot of reviews on here are really old and I have to say would have scared me off from coming. The certainly aren't reflective of my experiences. Glad I made that appointment anyways. The reception staff is great and really friendly. I like the patient portal for communicating with my doctor but also appreciate that they'll just call me with results too. read more

Was referred here by my Privia primary care physician for more information about hormone replacement therapy. Despite this, the receptionist protested with disdain that they don't usually take patients "like me". They misgendered me throughout the call, even after seeing that I was referred for gender dysphoria, literally saying "sir" at the beginning and end of every sentence. I've never spoken with anyone so unprofessional, in healthcare or any other setting. It has me reconsidering whether it is wise to stay with Privia for *any* of my healthcare, much less endocrinology. read more

I made an appointment with their endocrinology department for a routine exam. My doctor was obviously very overworked, kept yawning during the entire exam and her grasp of the English language was fair to say the least. It was my first time meeting with a doctor since finding out that I had a thyroid problem and it was very hard to figure out what was going on. I got my prescription but there was no after care follow up at all. When it came to renew my meds, I ended up going with Northern Va Endocrinology even though it is 45 minutes out of the way for me and had a MUCH better and personalized experience. read more

Don't know how they call themselves doctors. Dr. Go is the worst doctor I've ever seen. She does not care about symptoms or how you feel the minute she sees the lab test is sort of normal (which by the way one of he test I had to suggest cause she didn't even think of it) she will bascially tell you that your symptoms are not her problems cause the lab tests are.."close to normal". After my test result came back she also didn't even bother to call and explain to me the results. I Had to schedule another appointment which was another week away where I still experienced really bad symptoms just for her to once again dismiss them. Patients are not humans only numbers to this doctor. read more

Frustratingly poor experience. Hopefully this review can help someone else avoid this office, too late for me though. Important to note: the 'Customer Service' number (800 976-1442) being posted on all of these negative comments doesn't connect. Can we get an update, please? GETTING THERE: It is a huge complex, so leave a lot of time to get to the right office if you so decide to go here. I asked around once I arrived, and got 3 different (incorrect) directions from 3 different people who worked there. Not the Endocrinology Group's fault, but just a heads up. WAIT TIME: Doctor Ellis showed up 40 minutes late to my 8am appointment. The time she spent with me felt rushed, and couldn't have been more than 10 minutes. APPT: This was my first visit to any endocrinologist; I have been experiencing concerning and scary symptoms, yet the doctor downplayed them. For example, when I said I had been eating ridiculously clean and exercising 2 hours a day yet still gained a lot of weight (for me, and for a small frame) over the course of just a few months, she said "eh it could be anything, it isn't that much weight gain." But I have also been experiencing hair loss and the typical symptoms of hypothyroidism -- hence, why I'm there! I know doctors see so many patients and this is routine for them, but for the individual it is scary to have vague symptoms and not know what the cause is. So a little empathy would have been nice. The doctor recommended bloodwork, and I asked for the more extensive panel (won't go into detail here, but if curious, look at the literature about using just TSH to diagnose -- lots of people go undiagnosed for years because doctors only test TSH and not the other markers).  When I did this, she LAUGHED at me and rolled her eyes. God forbid a patient does research ahead of time and cares about the information at hand? I felt embarrassed in the moment, but am very happy I persisted. At the end of the appointment, I was able to get bloodwork done right there (the only positive experience is that the woman who takes blood and works for Quest is so kind, fast, and efficient -- pretty painless!). FOLLOW UP: At the end of my appointment, the doctor said I'd get an email when my test results were in and loaded to the portal. Great! Well, over 2 weeks went by for simple blood test results, and I hadn't heard. I continued to check the portal over the next few days -- still nothing.  I called the office and asked, and got silence on the end of the phone, and then "Hm... well your test results have been in, I'm not sure why they aren't posted. I think the doctor wanted to make a note? Check back tomorrow."  At this point, I'm pretty annoyed. Later that night, I checked the portal, and there were the results. What?! Never got an email notification, either. All signs point to -- they just downright forgot to load them and notify me. All in all, I was able to get the bloodwork done that I wanted, but the experience was not good. I -- the patient -- felt like an inconvenience. And the follow up was dismal. If you want to have a choice in which doctor you see to address your health, LOOK ELSEWHERE! I had been coming to this practice for a few years to see Dr. Ramirez. She was ok, but not great. I never felt like my questions were answered, and she only looked at my blood tests to treat my thyroid. My levels were ok, but my other symptoms are UNBEARABLE. Extreme fatigue. Weight gain. Hair loss. I always felt like there HAS to be something else going on or something that can be done so I don't feel horrible all the time, but she dismissed my concerns. Blood test + meds was really all that she was willing to address. Then completely out of the blue, she left the practice and I was never even told. They assigned me to some other doctor who I saw once, but I felt like an afterthought. When I tried to see another doctor in the practice who came highlight recommended by my colleague who is a nutritionist and thyroid cancer survivor, I naturally tried to make an appointment. BE WARNED - once you see one doc in this practice YOU CANNOT SEE ANY OTHER DOCTOR. This practice has complete disregard for their client's health and wellbeing. A patient should be able to have a choice in their doctor, and it's appalling that this policy is in place. Now rather than seeing a highly recommended doctor, I have to go back to the drawing board and start combing my way through google and other sites in my attempt to find a doctor that actually cares. read more

I thought I'd found a great endocrinologist in Dr. Donohue but ended up being treated like absolute crap by this group. Because of a scheduling issue, I saw a different doctor one time for a ~5-minute virtual appointment. My primary care doc later ran labs that showed my thyroid med dose was too high, and the lab results got routed to the endocrinologist I'd seen the one time, who told me to just not take my pills once a week. I've had thyroid issues for over 10 years, had my dosage adjusted numerous times, and questioned that treatment plan. I tried to speak with Dr. Donohue and was given the run around despite calling multiple times. Not only did NO doctor (much less Dr. Donohue) ever speak to me directly, Dr. Donohue sent me a nasty response instead via the portal that said he wasn't my doctor anymore since I'd seen the other doctor once. It's now been months with ZERO follow-up from the group, no check-in as to why I never got follow-up labs done, etc. Obviously have found a new doctor now. I haven't felt this insulted since I was dating in college. Updated to add: I'd forgotten that they didn't even contact me about the lab results from my primary care doctor until I reached out to them a month later when I remembered that I needed to deal with that. Without my authorization or knowledge, they made me a new appointment with another doctor. Because no one told me about this, they sent me a bill for a "no-show." I managed to snag an appointment the next day with Dr. Maria Ramirez in this office, so I was pretty pleased about that. When I got to the office, I was whisked in and everything moved very quickly and efficiently. I have no complaints about that. Their in-house lab did my bloodwork and I was in and out the door in about an hour. Here's my main complaint: IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS AND I STILL CAN'T GET MY LAB RESULTS. We did two tests -- bloodwork and a salivary cortisol test. This was on a Friday. I was told the results would be ready on the following Tuesday. I called on Tuesday and was told that it would likely be Wednesday or Thursday. I called Thursday and they said they had just received the bloodwork results the day prior and still didn't have the salivary cortisol results. I called the following Tuesday and they said they had just gotten the salivary cortisol results and the doctor would be calling me "soon". It's 2:30pm on Thursday --almost two FULL weeks after I had all this testing done, and I *still* haven't heard from the doctor and am about to call for the FIFTH time to find out why it is taking so long. I will take my results elsewhere... once I get them. Sorry, guys. read more

I haven't even seen these docs and they've already pissed me off to the point where I don't want to see them. Last winter I made an appointment online to see them through ZocDoc - it was about two months ahead of time. When it got to be about two weeks ahead of time, I had to cancel it because my coworker was going to be out and I needed to cover for her. In the meantime, I had already scheduled a consultation with another endocrinology group. There was also an issue with duplicating my medical record and tying it to my other Privia medical account but I thought that had been solved. Earlier this week, I thought I would try again since I need to get in and I'm having a hard time with my other endo group. I made an appointment through their new online system for about 4 weeks from now. When I put it on my calendar, I realized I have a physical scheduled at 8 AM in Vienna and while my appointment wasn't until 9:15 that day, I didn't want to chance driving to Arlington and missing it. I then rescheduled to another day two weeks later that I thought would be open for me, but then someone else turned in a vacation slip so I realized that I couldn't do that either. I cancelled my appointment. I got a voice mail message stating that because I had cancelled my appointment four different times, they weren't going to be able to see me if I called back and cancelled another time. I work for a medical practice - it would be one thing if I called and no showed or if I didn't give more than 24 hours notice. I gave a minimum of two weeks, four weeks, and six weeks notice. For them to take this stance is absurd. So, my quest for an endo continues. read more

The 5 stars are all for Dr. Kevin J. Donohue. I saw him today after seeing another inhospitable doc in the practice. I called and just asked one of the techs: who is the nicest doc there? Dr. Donohue was great. We went through my numbers, checked my A1C on site, and talked about monitoring devices for me. He gave me examples and showed me devices. It was a very pleasant experience, instead of one that filled me with dread. He was very kind and friendly to me and my support dog. read more

The fact that new patients can get appointments right away while exiting patients have to wait 3-4 months should tell you something about this place. Seriously, i called to change an apt (scheduled for 2 months from now so not a last minute change) and was told there is nothing available for another 3 months, but when I go online my Dr. has plenty of availability if i say I am an new patient. Shouldn't an appointment be an appointment? Versus treating you poorly once they get you in the door? They also use a messaging system to communicate and with overworked doctors this means a lot of information is often left out. read more

The practice appears to be too busy to actually give patients the focus they need. I've experienced several instances where they just didn't bother informing me about my blood tests for 10 days or more. If I called with a question, it generally took a day or more for someone to get back to me. Dr. Ramirez is very nice and conscientious, but she's busy, and many times just doesn't have time to get back to patients with answers to questions and concerns. When you have a patient who is not feeling well (not awful enough for the ER, but still not feeling well), you might want to make it a priority to get back to them with answers. But that just doesn't happen. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was that I started feeling really bad, and exhibiting signs of thyroid problems. I called on a Monday for an appointment. Scheduled an appointment for Tuesday at 2pm. Got there on time, and was told they had no record of my appointment. The receptionist then told me I could go to the emergency room if I was feeling bad. Greeeeat. Thanks bunches! They had me get blood drawn again, and Dr. Ramirez came out and talked to me for a few seconds. She told me she couldn't really do anything until she got lab results back and promised they would be back by the end of the week, and she would give me a call. By Friday, I was still feeling bad, and I had gotten no call. I called and spoke to someone who told me that my lab results had come in the previous day, but no one read them. She promised Dr. Ramirez would get back to me either at my office, or my cell by the end of the day. The day came and went, and nothing. I would think if you have a patient who is feeling bad and waiting on lab results in order to get helped, a phone call for a few minutes would be a priority. Nothing. I'd finally had it. Sent them an email telling them I was switching practices. I then got a response at 1:30am on Monday morning, informing me that my labs were normal, and that I needed to go see my family doctor!
