This review is specifically for the lactation room at Slidell Memorial Hospital in May 2026…read more I recently visited Slidell Memorial Hospital (SMH) emergency department with a family member. And as a nursing mom, I needed a comfortable and safe place to pump. Unfortunately, it took me almost an hour to find someone who knew where the Lactation Room was or even that it existed. When I finally reached the room, it was perfect! Quiet, calming, and appropriately decorated with thoughtfully selected nursing mom artwork. It had all the essentials, including a refrigerator, comfortable chair, breast pads, and milk storage bags. It can be challenging as a breastfeeding mom, as there aren't many places that truly support this. While society promotes breastfeeding and its benefits, designated spaces needed for moms to comfortably nurse are scarce. Spaces like this, really warm my heart. If you're ever in SMH ask for the house supervisor and they'll direct you to the lactation room. Happy pumping!

I have been a patient at Slidell Memorial Hospital (SMH) numerous times since 1973. Throughout the…read moredecades, I have watched the facility grow and expand, including the addition of heart surgery capabilities and a helipad. My stepfather received excellent care during his final days at the hospital, and I have personally received first-rate nursing care during my own procedures and during a hospital stay for pneumonia. Even as the staff has evolved over the years, the quality of care has remained consistently high, and I have found that many residents in the Poplarville and Picayune areas rely on SMH for their medical needs. While I appreciate the quality of care provided, I do have reservations about the hospital joining the Ochsner network; I feel that transitioning from a local facility to part of a large corporate chain slightly diminishes its community-focused identity.

Years ago Dr. Dabdoub (before he retired) performed surgery on my left for a bunion and hammer toe…read more Although I wasn't having significant pain or discomfort he urged me to have the surgery because recuperation would be harder as I got older. He also urged me to buy an expensive piece of (non-insurance covered) equipment to help with the healing process. On my last visit before being discharged, I pointed out that there didn't seem to be any improvement. His response was: Well, guess we'll have to do it again!!!! And walked out of the room. I have more problems now after surgery than I had before. Apparently, he's come out of retirement because he performed surgery on a friend about a year ago. Like me, she's worse off now that before the surgery. When she complained he told her...In 30 years he had never had a complaint!!!

I found Dr. Dabdoub to be extremely condescending and much more interested in what he had to say then his patient. During my 3 visits I don't think I ever completed a sentence without him brushing aside what i had to say in favor of his somewhat extreme opinions; mostly about himself. Also, after my stay in the hospital I was desperately trying to avoid bankruptcy by working AND taking care of my foot. I was literally scolded by Dr Dabdoub for rescheduling 2 appointment because of work conflicts. Here seriously tried to make me feel like a child! After that plus 3 expensive visits to his office during which he did nothing more than examine my foot, talk about how busy he is, and treat me like a child, I decided it was probably time to quit throwing (a lot!) of money away for no tangible result and i refused to make another appointment. Now I find I am in collections for TWO additional visits that they scheduled without my consent saying it was IMPLIED in the treatment regime. Not sure what that means but they are adamant that I am in the wrong for refusing to schedule further visits.
