We ordered…read moreTires for our car at 5:46 PM They took the car into the bay never put it on the hoist, and came back out to us and said they would not be able to put the tires on because "The lugs are stripped and cannot get them off. The week prior I had replaced the brake shoes myself and turned the lug nuts on with my fingers and had applied anti-seize to the lugs. I told the attendants this and all they said was whoever put them on cross threaded them. So, I figured they cross threaded them because I knew they were not cross-threaded! So nI went and purchased new lugs and nuts costing nearly $150 and went home. I pulled out my breaker bar and loosened the lugs easily. I tourqued them to 150 foot LBS the week prior. I am going out on a limb here, because we watched three guy's walking around and talking whilst pointing at the wheels... They just did not want to work and just wanted to ride out the clock since they close at 7PM. Bear in mind we called ahead to make sure they had time to do the job, and they said yes. They were cleaning the bays when we got there. They wasted our time and gas getting there. They wasted our time whilst we waited in our other car watching from outside while they he-hawed around. Then they accused me of ruining parts on my own car. I was a journeyman machinist for 30 years and they said I cross threaded my lugs. I would NEVER SHOP AT WALMART or get our car serviced there EVER with such incompetent or LAZY employees you choose. They lost a good deal of money and they were still on the clock, it is no wonder so many Walmart stores are closing nationwide !

Pricing is good, typical Walmart cost wise and a good hunk of the items are from out of the country. I avoid food from China which is in abundance here, hopefully we will see more locally sourced sustainable food options. In a way I feel bad for the team here, the store is subject to a ton of theft as evidenced by open packages you see left on the shelving in the aisles. :(

First off the English muffins my mother picked up from the cooler had mold and upon further inspection noticed all the other ones did as well. Then while shopping for bread in the bread isle we noticed a lot of the bread was moldy as well. Would just like to mention this Gateway General Store. Like another Yelper out there…read moreexplained...this place has everything. It's the perfect little stop for anything you may need in preparation for visiting Voyageurs National Park. Although Voyageurs NP is huge and there are 3 main sections to it, this Gateway General Store is ideally situated right smack in the middle of it all off the main road in the quiet town of Kabetogama, MN. For me I was camping about 7 miles away for a few days while exploring around Voyageurs and each morning I made it a priority to come by here to to load up on my days worth of food, snacks and any little extras I may have needed. In fact, Kabetogama is so small I wouldn't even know where else to go for the essentials!?!? I'd like to take an excerpt from the Gateway General Store website that sort of sums up the experience that you can expect when stopping on by...."One of the last "True" General Stores where you can find everything.  Regardless of where you pitch your tent or hang your hat you are ALWAYS welcome at Gateway!" They serve hot coffee and breakfast sandwiches in mornings and then as well as prepared cold cut sandwiches for lunch including all the drinks even desserts you may need. For at night when I was barbecuing at my campground, they had all the supplies, hot dogs, hamburgers, charcoal, etc, for my cookouts. I also noticed, Voyageurs NP is a park surrounded by infinite waters and it's best explored by boat. So...the amount of people first coming here in morning times for fishing staples were endless. Each sunrise I stopped on by, it was sort of a ritual for fisherman to go inside before heading out to the docks and piers for the day. They have gas if you need to fill up. Prices were pretty reasonable and not elevated for such a remote park that is Voyageurs...right near the border with Canada. Store hours are 7am - 8pm daily. If anyone cares, the address is....9378 US-53, Kabetogama, MN 56669. Or you can just plug the name into Google Maps on your phone and it'll instantly be recognized. Btw, besides all the food and provisions included, they also have a little gift shop/souvenir store for grabbing your little keepsakes and memorabilia because there's not many options around town other than the Voyageur's Visitor Centers. You can just do all your shopping here at the store. I also like the blue collar feel walking inside. The store had an old fashioned cabin/lodge setting as if I was transported back to simpler times. It definitely had a cozy/charming feeling. Finally, right across the street, if you need to find extra parking because the store got crowded out front with cars, you can do it. Plus, you'll find there's a terrific entrance sign worthy of a photo, at least in my opinion. It says..."Welcome to Kabetogama Lake Voyageurs National Park!" Cool! Overall, I really appreciated all the accessible amenities that this Gateway General Store offered. And for those national park enthusiasts out there needing to check every park off their "to-do lists", when you finally arrive at Voyageurs, you'll almost certainly have to stop on by here and you'll be pleasantly surprised with all the goods and necessities offered, perfect for spending time among nature and the great outdoors.

While checking out, the cashier mentioned that the new store will be coming in March 2024. I was standing in what will be the new parking lot. It will clearly be significantly larger which will be a great thing for the town and its visitors. Hope to be up north again to check it out.
