I don't know a single person who lives here that hasn't been charged after the semester ended despite spending hours cleaning thoroughly. I mentioned if no one can pass the clean check then there might be something wrong with the system. One manager corrected me and informed me that of her 5+ years of working here she actually knew a student who had always passed the white glove and had never been charged anything extra. One student out of thousands and thousands is nothing to brag about. To say the least! I requested a partial refund of the amount they billed me. Management refused. Everyone on yelp has something to say about the difficult attitude of one or more managers. For the most part they have been very friendly and great. I recently observed a surprisingly rude and unprofessional gesture that had me lose confidence in Nauvoo apartments. Unfortunately there are lots of reasons why I am inclined to stay. I choose to live at Nauvoo because the wards are great and it's easy to make friends. If you value that sort of thing then I recommend these apartments. I want to give 5 stars to this place but where I say there is room for improvement they say "why?" Message me If you would like more details.

UV Review I have to…read morepreface this review with two important facts: 1. Any positive reviews after October 2024 were likely incentivized. UV ran a promotion where tenants who left good reviews could spin a wheel to win prizes like cookies, discounted rent, or free parking. 2. This complex was originally called "The Ivy" but had to rebrand to "UV" due to overwhelmingly poor reviews--yet nothing has changed about the issues that earned them that reputation. I've lived here for two years, and after the initial excitement wore off, I've regretted it every day. If you tour the complex, they'll show you Building 2, with fresh paint, new carpet, and updated appliances. Ask to see Buildings 1 and 3 instead--you'll find ripped-up carpet, poorly maintained gyms, and unsealed walls (a result of one of the fires that happened while I lived here). In my time here, there have been two fires and three floods, all due to lack of maintenance--not tenant negligence. After the second fire in November 2024, which was dangerously close to my unit, management's response made their priorities clear: they only visited us to remind us that they weren't responsible for any damage to our belongings--this despite the insurance fees we pay at the beginning of each semester. No concern for our safety. Just money. Security and management are equally negligent. One of my roommates dry-fired a gun at us as we walked past his room. Another regularly smoked tobacco and marijuana inside our apartment. Even after multiple complaints, management did nothing until we escalated the issue to the University Housing Office. Parking is a nightmare. There aren't enough spaces for all the residents, so finding a spot is always a competition. Even if you have a parking pass, you're still at risk of getting booted by RC Booting, a predatory company that UV allows to operate here. I've personally been booted despite having a valid parking permit, and I'm not alone--this company is notorious for its shady practices. Do your research on RC Booting before signing a lease here. If you're considering UV because of the shuttle service, don't. More often than not, we received texts saying a shuttle was broken, forcing us to walk to class anyway. There are cheaper, better-maintained, and more convenient apartments all around campus. Don't make the mistake I did--do your research before signing a lease here.

The…read moreapartments are freaking cheaply made, they cram six people to a room and charge you out of the nose for absolutely everything. They are charging $9,000 total per apartment each semester. And if you have a lease, they can decide to move someone else into your spot without letting you know, and still charge you rent for THAT room. They're an absolute scam, they could not care less about their residents, they're completely unhelpful, and you're paying LA prices for half of a bedroom in an apartment that they made as cheaply as possible. DONT LIVE HERE!!!!!!!

We had a serious mold issue, and maintenance neglected to take care of it. My roommates were sick because of it, on and off for two semesters while it went on. Found mushrooms growing in the carpet. Long story short, we were treated horribly on the situation and the owners/managers were EXTREMELY unprofessional on solving the matter. If crap hits the fan here, have fun. I got screwed over so hard, and they denied all requests for reasonable reimbursement. Moved apartments 4 times throughout the semester. Live at Brookside Village instead. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Very poor treatment! Got to a point where legal matters had to get involved. I got relocated to another apartment at Shelbourne, and that one had mold all over the bathroom as well. Live somewhere else. TERRIBLE! And we were nothing but reasonable and nice to the managers and owners. Save yourself the trouble. And by the way........... Electrical problems and major flooding occurred between the two laundry rooms. The amenities was completely shut down for most of the semester. Such a waste of money.

You have to be put on a waiting list. The rooms are pretty nice, but the WIFI is absolutely terrible. If you play games on computer or do any sort of online schooling this place is not for you. I've not been able to do homework in the middle of the day (when I'm free to it) and when I asked management about it they simply said 'the WiFi is fine in our office so we can't do anything about it'. Which- great. I'm glad your WiFi is great because I can't do anything. If you want good WiFi YOU have to buy another device I guess or do your homework on campus which would work if my computer was a laptop and not a PC. Overall management sucks and doesn't really listen to you, it's over priced, and the quality of life here is less then optimal. I would recommend living anywhere else.

The shower heads are legit shorter than the height you probably are, so have fun ducking every time you wanna shower. The rooms are a lot smaller than I originally thought I barely have any room for my stuff and the only way I can get any sort of airflow is by blasting two mini fans I bought and opening the windows, but I'm so screwed because it's already halfway through the spring semester and it's so dang hot at night already. The rooms are either 4 people or 6 people if I recall and I have the 4 room housing and there is only one fridge and lemme just say it's a blast trying to fit everything into this tiny fridge, and make sure you buy a lot of bottled water unless you love tap water as well. The absolute worst part is having no A.C. It's so hot and I hate it. The house do have heaters though, but that's obviously useless during spring summer and fall pretty much. They are Manual use though so you constantly have to monitor them. The stoves are gas lit with heating coils also and it's fun because even the smallest crumb and boom it's smoking everywhere so make sure those are constantly clean as well too. They aren't strict on cleaning checks which is actually nice though. I'm tired of housing treating people like children with these cleaning checks so that's pretty nice. Overall though I am not coming back here it's way too expensive for what I am getting here

Our experience with The Gates has been the worst university housing situation we've…read moreencountered--and we've had four children attend college, so we've dealt with many housing offices over the years. The management office consistently struggled with accuracy, communication, and basic billing processes. Several significant issues occurred repeatedly: 1) Incorrect and inconsistent billing: They did not follow the terms outlined in my housing contract regarding when charges would appear or how much they would be. After I paid, they would often add an additional rent charge and then attempt to apply a late fee to that new charge. This required constant monitoring of the account to catch their mistakes. 2) Unauthorized bank withdrawals: On two separate occasions, they withdrew money directly from my bank account without any prior notification or my authorization--even though autopay was turned off. 3)Major overcharges: I was overcharged by more than $1,000 on two different occasions within a single year. 4) Delayed refunds: When they acknowledged their mistakes, I was told I would receive a refund within 30 days. It took over three months to actually receive the refund. 5) Double billing during a unit transfer: When I transferred to a different apartment mid-contract, they continued to charge me for both units. My daughter spent time in the office almost every month trying to correct errors on our bill. By the time the contract ended, I was relieved to be done with this complex. It.was stressfull worrying about if they were going to overdraw my bank account with some random charge. My daughter had to make time to go into the office and most of the time the apartment manager wasn't there Based on my experience, I cannot recommend The Gates to anyone seeking well-managed university housing.

Looking for a nice affordable apartment? Keep looking. The gates is one of the most expensive…read moreapartments, over $2,000 a semester to live with 5 other people, meaning they rack in $12,000 per semester for apartments that are falling apart. You would think that would be enough to satisfy the penny pinching management but no, they take every opportunity to nickel and dime you for no reason. Clean checks are the absolute worst and you might as well just fork over the rest of your money when it comes to white gloves. If everything fails (and some inspectors intend to fail you on everything they possibly can) you could be charged an additional $300 for them to come "clean" which they never actually do. Oh but they will charge you for it. They had the audacity to lie to us as well saying the cleaners came but couldn't get in cause the door was locked. Meanwhile it was actually wide open and had never once been locked the entirety of our 2 semester stay. They charged people who didn't even fail their jobs, they simply do not give a frick about you. The stairs are loud and creaky with carpet that desperately needs to be changed. The cabinet space in the kitchen is abysmal for 6 people and there is a total of 3 drawers so good luck sorting that out with your roommates of who has to keep their silverware in a cabinet. Whenever an appliance goes bad, and they will, you put in a maintenance request just for them to give you an older model that is louder and more likely to break again. Oh and if you get stuck in the bottom room you have significantly less space, if you're by the window you just don't even have a side of the room, the light by the front door is right next to your bed lighting up your entire room from the gaps between the terrible blinds, you aren't allowed to put up a blanket to block it so instead you have to purchase your own curtains if you just want some sleep. Additionally, you aren't allowed to park on the womens side (where the gym, hot tub, volleyball net all are) not even the visitor parking where literally everyone else is allowed to park, so you have to walk. The sand for the beach volleyball is uneven and half the time just completely missing. The hot tubs bubble up as soon as you turn on the jets and everyone and their dog who don't even live at the gates are constantly filling it up. Every message is "URGENT" except the important ones. But when they charge you they try to slide it under the rug so they can add late fees. The previous management was never this bad, it is the new lady that wants to ruin this place even more. She is never there and never does any of the work and just wants to kick out the good manager for cheaper housing. I highly recommend you decide to stay somewhere else. For the gates price you can easily get a nicer apartment even with a private room elsewhere.
