I've spent a lot of time at Norlo Park over the years, especially playing softball there, and…read moreoverall it's a really nice park. The softball fields are usually in good condition and well maintained, which makes a big difference when you're playing regularly. One thing everyone notices right away is how windy it can get--it's probably one of the windiest places around--but you kind of get used to it. Besides sports, it's a great place for families. There are playgrounds for kids, plenty of open space, and lots of spots that are perfect for picnics or just hanging out. I've also walked my dogs there many times, and one thing I really like is that the park is big enough to keep distance if your dogs aren't super friendly with others. They also have a large dog park with separate areas for small and big dogs, which is really nice. There's water available for the dogs, and I've seen a lot of people bring their pets there to play. The park also has fountains for both people and dogs, as well as porta potties, which makes it convenient if you're staying for a while. Overall, Norlo Park is a great local spot whether you're there for sports, walking your dog, or just spending time outside with family.

This is a surprisingly large park, almost 150 acres. I'm not sure why it's called a dog park, it's…read moremuch more than that. There are three separate playgrounds, one of which is built for toddlers and younger kids. Another playground is conveniently located between two pavilions. Both pavilions have grills available to cookout. The third playground is closer to the cloverleaf area (see paragraph below). There are over two miles of paved walking/running trails throughout the park. Most of which is fairly level, for Pennsylvania anyways. There are a several brand spanking new softball fields, four of which are grouped in one area. To me they resemble a four leaf clover. I didn't use the dog area, but from what I could tell, there were two fenced areas. You must keep your dog on a leash outside of these areas for sure. During summer Saturday afternoons there are train rides for kids (and adults). The impressive train goes in a loop on site. The current hours are from one to four, so you have three hour window to work with there. I think I saw soccer field, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts as well. A large barn and community building rental can be utilized for weddings, parties, and such. With so much to do nearby it is work looking into.

It's closed for months to repair a sewage siphon in spring, which is ridiculous. The whole place and even the forest is littered with hard lemonade and beer bottles, babies diapers, dog poop and all kinds of food wrappers.

I'm not sure if something has changed recently but I went there today and there are big gaps on both sides of the fence where a dog can easily escape, on both the gate and other side, and on the far side, the dog would get loose into the tall grass and wetlands where it would be impossible to chase them. If your dog won't go far and/or has good recall maybe not a problem but I was definitely not comfortable taking my dog off leash here.

It's a nice option for the dogs on these hot days. However, there's not a lot of shade so make sure you bring an umbrella or hat. I was lucky to get a shaded spot while I was there. I brought a beach chair and a small cooler with some drinks and ice for Toby. It's not a very large area so it was a bit active with the people who were already there. Many people just stand in the water with their pets and some sit on the beach side. My dog loved it! He was running in and out of the water chasing other dogs and just having a good time. Once you park it's about a 10-minute walk. When you get to the fork in the road go left and that will take you to the dog beach. One thing I wish they had more of was garbage cans. They do have one of those dog poop dispensers with poop bags and a trash receptacle, but that was so full it was overflowing. So if you go, it would be helpful to bring a small trash bag so you can put your trash in there and probably leave it behind so others could discard their trash in there as well. There are bathrooms right across from the parking lot. It's a nice little getaway for you and your dog. You only pay to get into the Quiet Waters Park, which is waived if you are a veteran. This is a huge park, great for camping, hiking, walking, beach relaxing and more…read more Be aware: constructions are currently going on at different places of the park including the main entrance. After the constructions are completed, the park will start to request campers or day visitors to make reservations online during holidays and weekends visitors. Atmosphere: it's a large park filled with nature's love, trees, water, birds, logs, dirt paths, bugs, wildlife, fresh air and tables benches roads for visitors. Service: staff in the visitors' center are friendly and knowledgeable. Value: you cannot put a price tag on your love of nature and experience of outdoors. Parking: there is no issue to find parkings inside the park, just depending on how far you are willing to walk. Beautiful park, highly recommend.

A variety of environments from swamp to beach await. There is too little public land on the bay, and this was one of the larger stretches in the area. And hey, you need to get out of the car every now and then.

Meaning it was more dirt paths and weeds/scrubs atleast 10+ years ago. However, they still seem to preserve the natural habits (forest) for the wildlife. This is very very clean.!!! There are benchs along the paths. They have iron fencing in place as well. Parking is not abundant but its in place. And last but not least I did not see any place to potty properly legally. One can run, stroll, bike, walk your pup or sit on the manicured lawn. Please pick your dog poop up and dispose of such. There are poop bag and disposal stations around the path!! One complete lap is 1miles.

A bit of a mixed bag for me at Cunningham Falls…read more.. I was excited to find a listing of parks that supposedly had wheelchair accessible trails. I've never been to Cunningham Falls before and the idea of seeing a waterfall seemed lovely. However, the accessible boardwalk has strips on pretty much everything board which made me feel like I was riding a very angry horse. Each bump shot pain up my spine. I'm writing this a day later and I still hurt, and I think I'm a pretty tough chick... and the view of the falls was mostly blocked and not worth the actual pain. The Falls is more like a small stream of water that splashes down some rocks. It's a soothing noise but I was expecting something more grandiose... I suppose I could blame climate change. Most of the old stream beds are dry. We also checked out the "south beach" which I enjoyed. There's plenty of pavement, and packed gravel. I couldn't get close to the water, but that's okay because it was a sunny day and I prefer to stick to the shade. I was impressed by the fact that every picnic table has a grill nearby. If I lived closer I'd like to think I'd come to the south beach often, hide in the trees near the river, grill something delicious... but I was a several hours long trip from Dundalk, so it's unlikely that I'll return. It was a nice day-trip though. I don't regret going.
