This is the park I grew up visiting Over the years they have added a big skatepark and remodeled the entire playground it is gorgeous and has some of the most innovative play equipment including a see saw wave They have tennis courts and even a wall so you can practice alone and several baseball fields The basketball courts are a decent distance from the street a much appreciated safety feature There are trails to explore either on bike or by foot surrounding the park as well as plenty of off road place for dirt bikes There are quiet spots for yoga and even an extremely affordable community pool which offers free swim as well as organized classes Parking is easy at this spot and I ran into several birthday parties and cook outs today there are car meets on the weekends and even a McDonald's you can walk to across the street This park has had so many memories for me and continues to improve

I love this park for my kids. There are two playgrounds that allow for kids of all ages to play. My son is autistic so it can be a little difficult for me to help him when he's on the playground designated for older kids. However having two playgrounds is great for older kids who need a more challenging environment to navigate. It keeps the kids busy, and it's very spacious and clean. It's currently spring so there's some cute flowers in March.

I remember when Northside Park in the 1970's and we always looked forward to going there to go swimming. Soon after opening, the park built a first class BMX (Bicycle) race track. The BMX track has since closed due to liability issues for the City but the Park still has a lot of wonderful activities for children as well as adults to enjoy year round. The Tennis Courts are well maintained and not usually very busy. The Basketball Courts are also kept in good repair and they offer some competitive action for players and spectators to enjoy. There are several areas for outdoor cooking for family get togethers and they are well sheltered against the elements. They offer a great State Park complete with drop in ramps for every level of skill and there are areas for the spectators to watch the action. The swimming pool is still operational and it is always clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life, spend some time getting away from everything at Northside Park, you will be happy that you took the time to do so...

This is my favorite park in Norfolk. It has two large play structures based on age. There is also an abstract climbing area, a large amount of swings, and a pirate ship sandbox! Everything is pretty well maintained and parents/kids pick up after themselves for the most part. The main entrance parking lot is huge and pretty much always clean. There is a pool and skate park, neither of which I have used yet. Paved and non paved trails lead you to each area in the park. There is a secondary entrance that brings you closer to the tennis and basketball courts as well as the baseball fields. Benches and tables are well spaced out through the play areas and there are trash cans. Park is well shaded by giant trees so play time even on the most sunny day is easy. The only negative is occasionally there are people there doing things that they shouldn't be. Norfolk PD is usually quick to respond if you have a complaint.

Nice size playground. There were actually 3 playgrounds, a separate swinging area and a wooden obstacle on a mound of sand. The main playground has a LOT of climbing levels. Ladders made all different styles with only one regular set of steps. 3 slides, a climbing wall some noise makers and the infamous speaker cones. 4 benches surround the main playground and of course only one in a nice shaded spot ( of course taken). Even though the playground are spread out this is a good size playground for all ages. The skate park is amazing. All these ramps and ledges this huge pool size hole where the kids rode their bikes and popped out doing flips. I could probably watch them all day (well maybe a 1/2 hour or until someone cracks their (only saw 3 kids with a helmet out of 20)) I could see people playing basketball on the other side of the parking lot. A tennis court with multiple courts is at the park as well. Upon driving around i saw a lot of picnic shelters, a pool, baseball and maybe a football field. Looks like a great park for some active kids and families!

View from the top level of the main playground (yes even grown ups can comfortably maneuver onto the equipment)

Nice spacious park with multiple play areas. The "main" playground has 3 levels and plenty to climb on, there's another play area that's for climbing with monkey bars and the likes (more for older kids who can reach and with the upper body strength/coordination) there's a swing area with teeters, a sandy "pirate ship" area to the side of that...finally (and more in the shade) is a smaller playground for younger kids but my 6 year old liked that area all the same, and played there with my 2 year old. There's lots of parking, bathrooms and even a pool in the same park. Also a skate park where a lot of teens hang out but it's a little ways away from the playgrounds.

As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by one of their friendly staff members. I asked a bunch of questions about the skate park and they were very helpful. The storefront side of that serves as the front of the store is well executed and organized. There's plexiglass in the back separating the park from the store. For those interested, their session times are as follows: 10am-12pm $3.50. 12pm-3pm $7.00. 3pm-6pm $7.00. And 6pm-9pm $7.00. No half sessions and girls "sk8" free. They also offer lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm-8:30pm and they cost $20/hour. Furthermore, they have VIP Memberships available Monthly: $55, Quarterly: $140, and Yearly: $500. A VIP Membership offers unlimited skating and in-store discounts. A very cool place and concept overall.

Clearly it is a simple roundabout flat paved circuit, but it's so much more than that to many different people. One, it's great for me because I'm not supposed to navigate uneven terrain yet. There was plenty of real estate to do my walk and give the regenerated ankle some exercise. I didn't walk around the elementary school nearby, just the path immediately that encompasses the bathroom. That path alone twice was a little over 2 miles roughly. The park is perfect if you have well behaved dogs. Plenty of room for Fido to run around. There were several people with their dogs walking. I saw a man run his remote controlled car through the field and walkways, a kid and his parental vision ride across on a dirt bike, and a man and his little kid on his atv. You name it! The field is massive you really won't run into anyone because of the amount of space! There were several soccer goals out there too. I'm sure this a perfect place for Impromptu soccer games and football games, they probably even hold games there. There isn't many benches, I saw at least one aside from the ones in the two mini shelters. There isn't a lot of shade so if you want to get some sun this a good place. There are trees along parts of the path for partial shade. I feel this would be a good place to teach kids how to ride a bike, or to cruise on a skateboard. Close to the parking lot they have outdoor exercise equipment provided by AARP that is protected by sun shades which is wonderful! I got on the elliptical bike for a minute or so and did step ups on the various level platforms. It's a good resource for anyone really! I think it's great and I'm thankful that it's available for anyone to use. Super smart as well to place sun shades up high to protect people from the sun as well as to protect the longevity of the equipment. Bathrooms are close to the parking lot with water fountains.

Our dog loves running around. We are bummed that they locked up the back fence to the neighborhood. It was perfect and easy access on our walks. There is a clean restroom and water fountain. There are places for people to bbq. There is a little playground area for different ages of elementary kids to play at Diamond Springs ES. They also have basketball courts. They provide doggy bags & trash receptacles around the track. Very nice area. The only downfall is the damn geese. Who can we sell these geese to?! They're awful and they poop EVERYWHERE. So nasty.
