The platform is set up so you have to go to 7 different platforms or websites to complete 1 daily math assignment. My very strong math students who have gotten A's their whole life and completed a college pre-calculus course with an A, could not figure out their complicated calc course. Not that the math was too hard, but they make the input and IT part too hard. We had to withdraw and they would not refund the money. We lost $2000 and put us in a bind. I was delighted to find NorthStar Academy (NSA) while researching many options during this pandemic. NSA is a multi-accredited school with actual campuses around the world, as well as offering online classes with or without virtual Zoom classes! My teenager and her friend have enrolled so they may still feel connected to friends, and make new ones, around the world! I am happy for them. :) Btw, I read another review that colleges do not accept their transcripts. That is not true, so perhaps they were referring to another school w/a similar name(?). Fraudulent school and the farthest thing from a Christian school as one can be. My son is Autistic, they locked him out of classes when he couldn't attend, then charged us for an entire year of school that he was locked out of. Then they sent it to collection and put it in our credit report for )$1500. That's $1500 for classes we never received or used do to a medical condition. We couldn't even get in the classes. Sound Christian to you? They refused to discuss or acknowledge mistakes. We had to hire an attorney and start litigation, and dispute it on our credit. Stay away, this is not a Christian school, it's a money grab. read more

Our schooling has included over 12 years of public online school, two part time face to face, or brick and mortar, Christian schools, and I have to say I am impressed with North Star Academy. My son started with two high school electives. We have added on core classes and more electives. Several are AP classes with the option to get dual credit through Colorado Christian University. The teachers have been accessible and helpful. With one week of AP Calculus under our belts, I am SO glad we quit our public online school and moved all his classes to North Star. I didn't know I could get this excited about overseeing a Calculus class, but it is probably because I will get to oversee the class instead of jumping in and having to learn Calculus again to help teach it. NSA has used various resources to build their own curriculum. The teachers drive the class instead of a set curriculum driving the class. The Christian worldview is evident, and the teachers pray for the students. Good Job NSA. You keep meeting or exceeding my expectations. read more

I had been looking for a high school for my son for a year or so when I came across NorthStar Academy during an internet search. I was impressed with what I saw. When I contacted the school with questions, the staff there were extremely helpful and polite without any pressure of enrolling. It felt like like the storm to find the best school for my son had eased...this was the place. This is a Christian school, catering to international missionary and business families. Due to it's international flavor, the academic standards are very high and the Bible is the core of every subject. I enrolled my son in one teacher-led, semester long class this year as a way to "road test" the school and my son's response to it, and the results are amazing. Because I have homeschooled from the start, I have been my son's only teacher. This one class (music appreciation) has allowed my son to grow, and mature academically as he does the research and takes time to really develop and write his assignments. It's like everything I've been trying to get him to do for me has finally sprung forth. I asked him this morning what his thoughts were four weeks into the class and he gave me a typical teenage, "Duh, Mom, what do you think." look on his face. He loves this school. It is well worth the investment. This school offers a regular or college prep diploma and as honors, pre-AP and AP classes. The school begins at 5th grade and goes through 12th. (Side note) The week my son started the school, he had a writing assignment to do for me. He had to write about a wild animal but couldn't decide which animal to write about. "You have classmates, ask them." I told him. After a moment of surprise and "how do I do that." He went to First Class (the high school "commons, as it were), and found who was online. "Here's a girl from Thailand, can I ask her?" I agreed, and my son started chatting with her through an instant message program. A minute or two later, he told me she recommended he do the Asian Elephant and gave him some information." As he signed off, he stated. "This is so cool!" If you are looking for a dedicated Christian online school with high academic standards that happens to be international in flavor, look no further. NorthStar Academy is the place to go. read more
