I will never take my dog back here again! They are just money hungry! We took our dog in for a bladder infection. they insisted on running a test that was $250, then only treated her with a 10 day dose of antibiotics knowing that she had crystals in her urine and would mostly likely need an additional round of antibiotic. They wanted us to come back in two weeks later to do another test for $250, plus the basic fee for being seen. Some unexpected expenses came up and we were not able to take her back in. Then she started having accidents in the house again. They refuse to give her the longer dose of antibiotics without being retested, so now our pot dog just has to suffer and get worse because we are going through a hard time and can't afford all of the testing and fees. It's just not right. don't waste your time here, they don't care about your pests, they just want your money! read more

This is my second time using Northwest Animal Care. First time was a week ago when my dog Buster wasn't eating for a couple days. When he did eat, he vomited it out. I called them right when they opened and they were able to get us in that day. Buster has be doing much better since then with the treatment that prescribed. A couple days ago, he jumped off the bed and he hurts in front paw. This morning, he didn't want to put any weight on it. So I called them first thing in the morning and they were able to get us in right away. Again, the doctor and staff were very friendly and showed my boy a lot of care and helpfulness. I definitely believe we've found Buster's primary care vet at Northwest Animal Care. Thank you to Dr. Lin and Dr. Compton for your compassion for animals. Their prices are reasonable and they also work with you to determine which service should be priority. I appreciate that. read more

This place just feels like walking into a big cash register...... and i do not believe a thorough exam or anal expression was performed on my do...... so, not even worth the high end expense. I brought my dog in for an anal expression and paid the preliminary wellness exam fee ($89.40) - as is standard anywhere. But my dog was still acting uncomfortable after the expression (tech and vet said everything looked normal) so i brought him to a second vet (NWAC wanted a $75 recheck fee and im sure i would have been paying the Clinical Support fee ($9.50) again as well, but not confirmed). The 2nd vet determined that my dog had a full anal sack AND an infection. NWAC said that since my second vet appointment was close to a week later - basically it could have gotten filled and infected in that time. To that i say, he was STILL uncomfortable immediately after our appointment and his family dogs were still sniffing his butt - like it wasn't regular back there. The infection was present at that appointment (i waited too long to take him bc i just moved here and all the veterinarian's reviews in the area are HORRIBLE - but i know it's my fault his little anal sack was infected. I am still making my amends to him). At the end of that first and only appointment, the vet made sure i brought 5 or 6 brochures home, explaining all the expensive and wonderful tests and procedures i can get next time we're in. At this time, NWAC is reviewing my request for refund for the anal sac expression, wellness exam and tech service fee, but the business manager who took the claim for me made it sound like a refund was unlikely. Ps, I gave 2 stars because everyone in there is really nice and pleasant and very professional. read more

I took my puppy to this location and left not feeling heard or educated adequately. I had a few basic questions about the vaccine schedule for puppies as well as the timeline for fixing a puppy and both the vet tech and the vet brushed my questions off. As a primary care provider for humans, I was pretty disappointed in not only this, but the fact that the vet was only in the room for a total of 2 1/2 minutes of the appointment. I understand that as a provider, your schedule gets overbooked and it's easy to feel overwhelmed, however, as a patient, this was a very disappointing for myself and my pup. That being said, the front desk lady was nice and the vet was nice for the brief moment I got to interact with her. read more

I have taken my dog and my son's dog to this vet for about 18 years. I started going to this clinic when Dr. Brent Johnson was working. Dr. Brent Johnson did my dog's anal gland blow out surgery, too. Dr. Johnson got him in right away and they did charge me for emergency services. So, the fees were up front. I would then take him monthly for anal gland express appointments and if they didn't express anything then there was no charge. Now, this service was under Dr. Brent Johnson's ownership. Dr. Brent Johnson also handled my 14-year-old dog's passing. The new owners are now taking care of my cats. They don't try to push any service on you. They are very open about their fees. They also quoted me a thousand dollars to clean one of my cat's teeth. You have to go over the paperwork and read everything. The vet and the techs spent time with me and my pet and they ask, do you have any questions for me. So, people's perspectives are going to be different from mine. They also told me the extractions were not included in the cleaning. Having pets are not cheap, but I have financially prepared for my pets to be cared for yearly and to see a vet when it is urgently needed. When I needed a cat to be neutered, they referred me to a clinic that charges less, but I like going to a vet clinic where my pets are established. I know I have gone to other Emergency Pet Hospitals and you have to ask what their prices are. The one in Lynnwood was very expensive and they wanted to keep my pet over night for $5000.00. Northwest Animal Care Hospital would have been far cheaper. You have to do your research. I am very happy with the care my pets receive, and the fees are reasonable. read more

They were very nice but they also bend you over. First time ever using them. Our dog had not eaten in 3 days, had bloody stool, vomiting, etc., but otherwise acting normal. Took her in for a check. They ran tests (as expected) and also asked to keep her overnight fasting. Picked up next morning, no findings, gave some antacid for digestion. took the dog home and all has been well since. Price? $2500. Checked back of there could have been a mistake. There was an extra x-ray on the bill. Charged for 3, should have been 2. Credited the mistaken charge. New total was $2080. A competent practitioner could have assessed that the dog was not in any immediate or critical need and did a single xray and blood work for probably less than 1/2 this outrageous cost. It cost me over a hundred dollars more than i was quoted for the 15 min wellness visit and ear mites were found and confirmed and i asked for help treating them and was denied. I even offered to pay extra and i was referred to Amazon. The fact you charged me $250 to take my two cats' temperature, swab their ears and show me the mites in the microscope and couldn't help me get some $5 medicine into their ears while they were standing on your table makes me so mad i want to cry. They still have them even though I've tried everything--i don't have someone to help me hold them. read more

Very dissatisfied with the vet here. $800 and she didn't even figure out what was wrong with my cat. WOW. About $500 of that was for an X-ray, and $200 of that was to send it to somebody else who was qualified to examine it, because the vet isn't qualified? The X-ray lead to nothing. Then $90+ for pain medicine (cat wasn't in pain), antacid, and anti-nausea medicine. So, they didn't know what the problem was, yet were still fine charging me $800 for a diagnosis that lead to nothing. She actually wanted to charge me $1000, just to get my cat vaccinated for things she said were overdue. Yeah. Just get that money however you can. I figured out the issue on my own. I'd given the cat 1 leaf of fresh catnip at a time, over the course of a few days, which she ate. After a few days, she started throwing up, and lost her appetite. I told the Vet this, yet somehow that didn't ring a bell? She went to school for this? Now cat is 100% fine, eating normally, no thanks to the Vet. $800 for nothing. How is this ethical? I took my car to a garage, they couldn't figure out the problem so didn't charge me. Never go here again. Ever. read more

Bait and Switch Pricing! I got an estimate for just under $1000 for cleaning. The vet was also aware that my dog needed at least 4 extractions. I was surprised at the cost because it was much less than I had ever been quoted. The estimate said "extractions included" and had $0. When I got to the vet today for the procedure- I was told extractions were not included and what was my limit to spend of the procedure today? Why were extractions not included in the original estimate? Why did no one tell me that would be an add on? BTW- 2 months from the original estimate, the price tag had already gone up $200. I've been taking my dog here for grooming for almost 3 years now. We come regularly at about every 2 months and even have a schedule for the remainder of the year. We were informed last month that their regular groomer Emi (not sure why they only had one) was no longer there and that they were in the process of hiring someone else. Unfortunately they had to cancel our grooming session. Today, I called again to ask about the new groomer. The girl at the grooming area informed me that they hired a part time groomer and will not be able to honor any of the scheduled appointments unless it fits into their part time groomer's schedule. No courtesy call or email was even provided to their long term clients with pre-scheduled appointment. The girl showed zero empathy and could care less. What horrible customer service and experience. read more

Kudos to Northwest Animal Care for running a tight ship under unusual circumstances as the pandemic has affected everyone. NW Animal Care is my senior chihuahua's new vet since moving up north, and I have to say that we very satisfied with their service. First, I really, really appreciate that they are so strict with social distancing. When you pull into the parking lot, there are signs outside with their telephone number. Call the number and a tech will start the appointment by taking your name, number, and car make/model. They'll ask you initial questions about your pet/issues and which door you're closest to. When it's time for them to collect your animal, they'll meet you at that door and take your pet inside. You then return to your car, stay in the parking lot, and wait for them to call you. The vet will call to guide you through the appointment: they'll ask questions, answer any of your questions, describe what they are doing, and determine a plan of treatment. They are also excellent about discussing cost up front during the second phone call and giving various options based on what you can afford. After the second phone call, they finish up with your pet and you receive a final phone call to pay, discuss meds (if any), and arrange to pick up your pet at the door. One con: This place stays busy. It was hard for us to get in the same day for an urgent issue and if my dog worsened we would have had to take him to a different vet. My guy is getting up there in age and he's had to see the vet here a handful of times over the course of just a few months. Other than a mix up in communication over appointment time, we've been very happy with their transparency and customer service, including post-appointment follow-up phone calls. read more

We unfortunately had to put our dog to sleep about 8 months ago and they were so compassionate and caring for her near the end, even putting so much care into her memorial services (process of receiving the ashes, paw/nose prints, and a special card signed by the whole staff who knew our sweet Kona). We now take our puppy here and have had nothing but great experiences. We've seen Dr. Guillen, Dr. Logan, and Dr. Compton and all were so caring, thorough, and professional during our illness or wellness checks. The vet techs have also been so positive and caring throughout our visits. They even give you the quote before beginning the treatment process so you are not blindsided financially. Latest Covid Restrictions: although I'm a huge fan of this clinic, I'm quite upset with the latest Covid restrictions of them not allowing us to go in the facility with our pets. They said it's "for the safety and welfare of our staff". Okay, so we're in the 3rd year of Covid...are you saying that when your staff isn't at work, they don't go into grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, retail stores, etc? Listen, I'm all about taking precautions to be safe. I get that maybe you don't want people lounging in the waiting area. But letting my dog go in without me, to me, has the feeling of handing over my baby, who can't tell me what happened during the visit. I don't like it. I just don't like it al all! Oh and I hope I'm not having to deal with this inconvenience because 100% of your employees are not vaccinated. Because if they were, why the restriction. I will keep this short and sweet. Staff is friendly, however expect to wait 10-20 minutes past your scheduled appointment. My real issue is Dr. Lee diagnosed my dogs limping as a case of arthritis. This is after seeing x-rays and feeling his knee while he was sedated. However, since I moved to Mount Vernon, I went to a vet here and within 10 seconds of examining my Black Lab he thought it was a torn ACL. After looking over the x-rays and consulting with a radiologist, yep, torn ACL. I would seek a second opinion for your pet, especially one as impactful and severe as a torn ACL! read more

My dog was treated there for reoccurring bladder stones, congestive heart failure, enlarged liver, and enlarged heart. The treatment was fine but all the meds were expensive. When it was time to take my baby girl over the rainbow bridge, the office failed me. I asked several times to have all of her paw prints and her nose print taken for a tatoo I was planning. On my way out the door after my baby girl was gone, I reminded the staff of my desire to have all of her paw prints and nose print done. When I received the envelope that was supposed to have all the prints, there was only one paw print. Not all four that I requested and no nose print. I was heart broken. I called the office knowing there was nothing that could be done but wanted them to know how disappointed I was. The staff said she would check into this and have someone call me back. It was over a week before I heard from them and was told the no one remembered me asking for all the paw prints and that there would have been an additional charge. Naturally I didn't care if there was a charge. The fact that they tell me no one remembers my request, that is ridiculous. If the staff is going to forget or lie about forgetting my request, what else will they forget and lie about. I will not go back nor recommend anyone else to go there. read more

I've been coming to this vet for over 5 years- taking both of my dogs here and I do 100 percent agree with the other 1 star reviews- NW animal hospital has taken a huge change for the worst over the last year or so and had some serious change over in their staff. I no longer feel like they care about their jobs or my animals, they have Mis-diagnosed my dog and it's sad because we used to think so highly of their Vets. I have had nothing but hassles with their front of house staff and the staff I've dealt with are not knowledgeable or even have any idea of what the heck is going on. Took my pup here for the first time to be seen for an ear infection. The receptionist was nice on the phone and squeezed us in for an appt same day. Everyone I dealt with here was friendly and helpful. I liked the vet a lot, she listened to my concerns, asked the right questions, and recommended the most appropriate services. The best part is she told me how much the charges would be before proceeding. I can't say how much I appreciated that. I have 3 pups, one with lots of medical issues, and have left the vet shell shocked with unexpected charges after what I thought would be a visit for a minor injury or illness. I love knowing how much it will be before incurring the charges. Not only did the vet recommend the right treatment, I was not up-charged a large amount from the retail cost of the medication. My pup is usually pretty anxious in new situations and with new people but I could tell she was at ease with the staff here. I have been looking for a vet in Everett since moving here a couple years ago and am glad that I've now found one that I like so much. read more

They killed my mouse. After a routine neuter his entire lower bowel fell out through his incision and I had to have him euthanized at another clinic 24 hours later. They never returned my money 500$+. And the manager was rude and belittling and wouldn't let me get off the phone when I told him I needed to call him back he continued to ask questions in a snobby tone such as "what exactly do you think we could have done better?" after I explained it to him several times already. It took me a while to write this and I thought about going to small claims to get my money back but I just don't have the available time on my hands. In January I got two mice and after having them for a day or two realized they were different genders. I called a few places to get quotes on neutering the male because I still wanted to keep both. They said it would be no problem and were friendly over the phone. I brought him in for his first visit and tech mentioned the doctor hadn't seen a mouse at their location yet because he was newer to the clinic. He made it sound like the doctor had done mice before. I expressed concerns that My mouse Cookie would chew on his incision. They said it was nothing to worry about. I got him neutered and they added medication that hadn't been discussed with me prior to the invoice on asking the tech did not know why the medication was used. I later found out after he died it was spread over his incision because it was bitter to stop chewing. I asked for his medical notes three separate times once on his visit once when he died and once 2 days later after they again failed to send me anything. They had three sentences on his entire surgery. Not proper SOAP notes. The receptionist mentioned on the phone after he died that they had never neutered a mouse before. The doctor had only done rats and the clinic had never seen a mouse at all! They never said this before he died. I feel like they wanted to do it as an experiment almost. In addition the receptionist said it was my mouses fault for chewing on himself. There was no indication of medication on his incision when I first took him home. Please don't take your pets here if you care about them. read more

I first found Dr. Johnson when looking back in 2008 for a vet that could neuter a rabbit. Finding small pet vets, especially good ones, is very hard. Once seeing the quality care that Dr. Johnson provided for my rabbit I moved my dog over to him as well. We have been with Dr. Johnson since 2008 and he has seen 10 of my dogs over the years. He is a very kind man and it shows in how he has treated all of the animals over the years. He is very honest with me on what my dogs need. He knows that we purposely adopt senior and/or special needs Cavaliers and English Toy Spaniels. So we spend a lot of money on vet care and don't have a ton of money for the extras. So I know when he tells me my dogs need something then they really need it. read more

I took my cat here for the first time this week, and was very happy with the care she received. We were checked in by a friendly receptionist, and quickly checked into an exam room. The vet staff were all super friendly, and they were able to quickly get my cat x-rayed and diagnosed. Dr. Johnson patiently explained several treatment options and let me choose the one I was comfortable with without pressuring me in any way. They were also very upfront about the costs, and didn't charge me for the nail trim. I would definitely recommend this vet clinic. read more

Never take your pet here. Left my dog in boarding for a week while out of the country. Come back and he's got a ripped off toe nail and several "hot spots" which look more like open wounds that have scabbed over. My dog has been boarded elsewhere for similar amounts of time with no issues. Of course their poor care had to be paid for by me and they have "no idea" what caused the issues. 0/10 shit boarding and shit hospital and shit people overall. read more

I took him in when he became lethargic and they kept me updated on every part of the process when we were trying to find out what was wrong. I really appreciate communication, especially when I'm clueless about medical terms and such, so it was nice having them to talk and hear what Howe thoughts were. I have been bring my dogs to Dr. Johnson since he opened his clinic. He has been wonderfull and very helpfull over the years, and we have recommeded him many times over. Over the past couple of years I have noticed a real drop in the quality of the service, other vets that are not very polite, and a very unhelpful front room staff. Not to say all are bad but there a few that could really use some training in customer service. To get any real service I have to insist that I speak directly to Dr. Johnson. Today I called because one of my dogs had been exposed to kennel cough at the dog park. My Girfriend took her dog to her vet the same day, and they were really helpful to get him treated and started on meds. No problems and he has responded well. On the other hand, when I called Dr Johnsons office for my dog, I got told that the Dr. was unavailable and they would not be able to see my dog for a month. When I explained that this was a urgent care case and he needed treatment I was told there was nothing that I could do and they could not help me. They are suposed to have urgent care approinments but when I asked for one I was turned away. This has not been the first time this has happend but I have always been able to talk them around or speak to Dr Johnson, this time my dog now has to suffer and I need to find a new vet that will acutally be helpful in a time of need. They treated my dog for ear infections 5 times in a 6 month period ( shame on me for going back more than twice) each time from $400-$600 each and the day after wanted me to bring my dog back in for culture test for an additional $114 dollars that they should have done the day he was treated. read more

I've been coming here all of my dogs life and I absolutely love the care they've received here. The doctors and techs over the years have been extremely knowledgeable as well as kind and professional. The office is clean and despite some last minute health issues, they've always managed to squeeze my dog in to be seen asap when needed. My only concerns over the years have been the turnover in doctors as well as the recent escalating prices. Although I fully understand we are in a post covid economy, it makes zero sense to me that some of the services, especially the ones that are all or mostly labor, have increased so much, like 40%50%+, in 3 years. They're about to price themselves right out of business. read more

Had a great experience here the first time I took my puppy here 4 years ago. The last appointment I had was horrific. This was a few months ago. I did not have the time to write this review in such detail until now. It makes it hard for me to look for new veterinary care. My experience here was absolutely horrible despite the average rating that it has. Be sure to check the RECENT reviews. The old ones were good for a reason. I don't know what happened to this place. It is going downhill. It seems like the Veterinarians never stay in place here. Recently went on their website because my dog is due for a checkup and there was a whole new staff and this place just makes me very skeptical. My last experience makes it hard for me to trust anybody at all :). My dog gets a lot of anxiety going to the vet. So when he's scared, he gets protective of himself and family members when we're in the room. So, we have him sedated for his checkup. This makes it easier on him and the staff. We were contacted before that appointment. They suggested we show up 45 minutes - 1 hour earlier so they could get ahead on time and sedate him. And I did that. I drove all the way home, and stayed there well over an hour, received a call that they left him alone somewhere for an hour and his muzzle slipped off and that they needed to sedate him. So I had to drive back another 20 minutes and put it on him :). Complete waste of my time to show up early, only to come back later again. They sedated him. And the staff told me he would be ready around 3- 4 and I would receive a call when he's ready. Well. I waited for a call and it was well PAST 4. And I didnt get one at all. I called them and the staff told me he'd just been waiting at that horrific place for however long. He was there for a majority of the day. Our appointment started in the morning. I dont know why it took so long. I came back. The first thing I noticed was the look in my dogs eyes. He looked worse than after any appointment I had picked him up from previously here. I feel like he was not taken care of here. I looked at the report and all it was was a checkup. But I specifically requested vaccinations. THAt wAS WHY! HE NEEDED TO BE SEDATED. He was there all day for a checkup? Makes no sense. And SO. They vaccinated him, while he was awake. So, that 200$ we spent, was useless. Money wasted. This place is pricey, and not even for a good reason. I know you get what you pay for, but their services were awful here. And asked me to comfort him while they did it. It did not work. He was already not feeling good to begin with when I saw him. They poked him and his eyes got all big and I saw a look on his face that really upset and hurt me. As if he didnt already hate the vet to begin with. This trip made things ultimately worse for him. I understand slip ups occur at these places all the time. They're busy. But when I picked him up it was more than a slip up. I could feel that he was neglected during his whole stay here. The energy of this place that day was awful. I will not be coming back. And I encourage anyone looking at this page to take their pet elsewhere, where they will be taken well care of, which is what they deserve!!!!! read more

I am absolutely fed up with this vet clinic. The people there nice, however they have no idea what the are doing and it is completely wasting my time, my money, and traumatizing my pet in the process. I was just scheduled for an appointment at the crack of dawn to get my cat's bloodwork done because they wanted to "test his blood levels immediately after his dose." So I go in and they tell me that they are going to have to hold him there for TWELVE HOURS because they actually want to see his blood levels "immediately before a dose" and not after. TONS of miscommunication between the workers and the schedulers. That should not happen. Now my cat has to spend an entire day at the vet and I have to make the extra commute back to pick him up. This is not the first instance of miscommunication where I have been mislead, or told different information from the staff that was led me to make NUMEROUS trips back and forth. This is the last time I will be going back to that clinic. If anyone has suggestions for natural medicines to help with cat epilepsy let me know. Pet CBD or other natural supplements is welcome, I cant keep going to the vet every six months for blood work for phenobarbital. read more

We have been coming to this clinic for years. For the first few years, our sheltie saw the same Dr., which has since left. We continued to go there because it was easy to get in, and the great care they offered. However, it was a bit concerning that we were unable to see the same Dr when bring in one of our dogs. Also it seems, with the exception of Dr Johnson, this practice goes through Doctors. They don't stay long at this clinic. During Covid protocols it was a bit trying to get appointments but they did their best to get us in. Since we have German Shepherds they have specific breed issues, which brings me to writing this. My boy shepherd has been exhibiting lameness, and would put weight on his right rear leg. We were/are fearing an ACL tear. Dr Compton looked at our boy and gave us some NSAID and told us to make an appointment for a couple of weeks if he starts limping again. Well he did, and we made an appointment for March 3 at 2:50. We arrived on time for our appointment and waited. We noticed people coming in a getting rooms right away etc. At 3:00 at person came in and said he had a 3:00, he was taken back right away. I looked and he was talking with Dr Compton. At this point (3:15) my wife went to the counter and they said there was a computer problem and our appointment didn't show up in their system ( I received a reminder email the day prior.) At 3:20 they offered us to see the vet tech and told us it would be 30 more minutes to see the doctor. We elected to leave instead. I normally don't write to many reviews but this is not the first time this has happened. It seems the front staff is partially to blame but what upset me the most is an apology never came out of anyone's mouth. Not sure what to say except they're always trying to upcharge. Had an older rescue, they wanted to do double hip surgery out of the gate, after routine checkup. $10,000. Just not a good feeling about this "corporate" veterinary. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We used to go here with our two dogs. One of our fluffs ate some muck and ended up vomiting, and had not been eating or drinking etc. We brought her immediately in for a check up; they gave her an injection for pain in her spine and water under her skin for dehydration. We went home and after a few hours she just wouldn't get up to go outside to use the bathroom. I thought maybe she still wasn't feeling well so I lifted and brought her out. Figuring she had water for dehydration put under her skin she would really need the bathroom. Needless to say she wouldn't, and couldn't stand on her back paws. This began a stressful few days. We brought her immediately back. Her back legs were just limp and she couldn't stand up on those paws. They checked her out and couldn't find anything neurologically wrong and wanted to keep her in and do x-rays. We left her in their care overnight. They kept her sedated for pain as she was shaking. The next morning we were straight in to see her and they brought her out to the room. She still was not standing and was covered in her own urine and feces, half wet from a mini rinse. I was furious and cleaned her with some baby wipes from my car. They said they didn't know what was happening, x-rays and blood work all fine. They had her still sedated for any pain and started meds for the diarrhea. They wanted to keep her in again, we didn't know what was going on and said ok. The main vet didn't seem interested or to know what was going on. He was disinterested and shrugged us off over the entire situation. I came back twice that day to see her. They said she wouldn't eat. So I hand fed her myself and she was starving. Each visit I had to clean feces and urine off her. The following day I had enough. I went to visit her again first thing. She was unable to walk, sedated and crying at me. I decided against the vets advise to not to take her home. I took her home. The vet was condescending but I was determined the initial injection they gave her for the pain had something to do with this. They denied this of course. Within an hour of being home and off any medication from them, she was outside struggling but able to finally walk. By that evening she was walking almost to full health. I would not and could not recommend this vets in good conscience. It did not seem they cared, or that they were capable and of dealing with any sort of pet emergency. My dog has never had leg issues before or after this incident. I don't know what would have happened if I had not taken her home that day. read more
