I really like this place. Sometimes in specialty shops the guys can make you feel like idiots if you are just starting out or are learning. Not these guys, they are patient and have no egos. They truly want to advise and answer questions. No agenda just good folks work here. They have a great selection as well as very good prices. Excellent service and great products! The two gents working here (father and son I believe) were helpful, kind and informative. My (more) local shop in Everett does have some nice folks working there but I've always felt like I was getting in someone's way or just simply couldn't find anyone to help me. "Begone Beer n00b!" We got to order our beer kit from a 'menu' and the grains were fresh-ground just for our batch. High quality yeast and chilled hops (the kit from Everett is sold pre-boxed). Prices on everything were great and it looked like they stocked everything you'd ever need. "Welcome Beer n00b!" I will still go to Everett for last-minute supplies and such but I will only ever buy fresh ingredients and kits from NBS. Support your local super-awesome business and go brew some brew! read more

The first time I visited, I needed to purchase a keg coupler and pump but with Trevor's help I decided to purchase a CO2 tank and coupler to ensure that I could enjoy the ENTIRE contents of the keg I had purchased for my wedding. Awesome help. My wife and I decided to pick up a shared hobby before the kids grow up and we suddenly realize we haven't spent enough time together. We both love alcohol of any variety, so wine making it is. (Later we may try beer and whiskey) We went to NW Brewers at the suggestion of a friend and have been very happy. We picked up a wine makers starter kit for $100. It had everything we needed to get started. We picked up a Merlot kit ($60) to start with, then learned a white would be ready to drink earlier. We went back got a Riesling ($50 with a 20% sale). Every time the support and guidance has been perfect. They take the time to talk with us newbies. Their prices are as good or better than online (Amazon price for a 1 gallon jug is double) and the local advice is priceless. Trevor and Larry know there stuff. They have been making brews themselves for years. Our kids have been making there own root beer as a family brew. We will continue to support this local family business. Thanks guys. read more

I live in SE Alaska, so getting brewing supplies here is kind of a pain, not kind of, it is really a pain. Trevor made the process very smooth and easy going.
