The customer service is insulting, Evertime I have had an issue and tried to talk to someone, they literally do not care. they only say things like "I cannot fix any issues from our side" and "our policy will not allow that". it doesnt matter what the issue is, and they will never let you talk to a manager. I wrote my very negative, one-star review of Northwest Community Credit Union a few days ago. An NWCCU Representative responded on YELP the very same day, denying that they had deliberately refused to take my payment on time over the phone so they could force me to MAIL my payment, making it arrive late, and so they could hit me with a big late charge. They also said they take all negative reviews very seriously. I couldn't make the payment online because they require your account to be at least 90 days old before you can use their online system, and my account was still less than 90 days old. And I explained to them that I was unable to make the 25 mile drive that day to their nearest branch to present the payment in person. I repeatedly requested to speak to a supervisor, but they refused to let me do so, saying a supervisor would refuse my phone payment, as well. And at least three of their employees told me I would have to mail a letter requesting a password so that I could make phone payments in the future, which would force me to make the payment after the due date. If they do take negative reviews seriously, they're sure not mending their highly dishonest, fraudulent ways. Notice that they have MANY reviews, and almost ALL of them are VERY NEGATIVE. Member for several years, had business accounts there. Eventually gave up on them for their poor customer service and moved most of the accounts to another bank. We had one corporate card left there which I cancelled in July of last year. After it was closed they closed access to all the statements. While completing our corporate taxes this year I noticed we were missing a statement. I messaged customer service and got a response that they would charge me research fees and a minimum per hour charge to provide me with that statement. I told them to go ahead, and have been ignored for a week with zero responses. Do not bank here. read more

I received an email from my credit reporting agency that NWCU had cancelled my credit card. When I contacted them they advised me that since I had not used my card in the past months, that it "could result in Fraud" for them and "they have the right to cancel without notification and for any reason." It has now been over 4 months and I have still not received a notification from them that my card was cancelled and they still list the credit card on Mobile Banking. The impact on my credit was dramatic. The customer service was non-existent and their comments "we can cancel at any time for any reason" was the only comment they could make. read more

I had an automatic payment go through the same morning my direct deposit went into my account and they charged me an overdraft fee because the "payment hit first". I did contact them and they replied with "Sorry you had a bad experience".... you know, the usual script they follow that basically says they do not care. I would understand if I was someone who overdrafts their account but this is the only one and I've been a member for a couple years now. Also, their online banking used to stay up to date over the weekends but that has stopped. I keep close tabs on my funds but I would recommend others to not rely on their app for current information. read more

This bank no matter how long you've been there does not care if you're having a bad day or a bad month they charge you $29 fees, five times a day for overdraft protection. They also don't communicate like their personal banking. The banking is more about the dollar nothing else it doesn't matter what you're going through in life, they do not care, they would rather see you in debt to them, then to have an actual balance because they take it away. They keep your Social Security for 4 to 5 days before you get it even if it's there early enough, you won't get your money this bank has been horrible since I started. read more

We had a loan for a vehicle with them for years. In that time we moved cross country (3 years ago). We changed our address. I know this because we received bills to our new address and when I called in I have to give them my new address to verify my account. Recently, we paid off the loan, but didn't receive the title. Upon calling I was told they sent it to our old address and I was at fault for not checking that the old address was deleted. Nice gaslighting a good client. So, now my title is in the hands of who knows who, and I'm stuck with the Bill to get a new title. But what most shocks me is the lack of responsibility they are talking. read more

I have been a member of NWCU for 17 years, and most of that time I was very happy with my service. But over the last few years I have noticed a downward spiral in service. For one, they keep chipping away at member benefits such as repeatedly lowering the overdraft amount allowed. Also, recently they have been having a lot of issues with fraud. Just in the last year, I have had to be issued a new debit card three times due to fraudulent activity. This never happened even once in the 16 years before. The most recent time was due to a system wide security breach that affected hundreds of members in several locations. I was delayed transferring funds into my account due to my card being on hold which then caused a check to overdraft, and I was charged the standard $28 fee. I called and asked them to please refund this since it was no fault of my own and they refused. They then offered I could take a one hour budgeting class and they may consider reversing the fee but there's no guarantee... are you kidding me!?! This is not how loyal, long-time members should be treated. Especially when other banks are eliminating overdraft fees. I promptly opened a new checking account and will taking all of my business elsewhere from here on out. We are just about to refinance our house, and I will not even consider using NWCU or their affiliates. read more

I've had an account here for a few months. They're real hard on the upsells when you open an account, but otherwise have good service. Every time I've come in, I've been with a teller in less than 5 minutes, which is much better than other credit unions I've used. One thing you should know if you plan on connecting Quickbooks or other software to their online banking and automatically pull your statements: you can't. They say you can (at least, the 1 out of 5 employees you talk to who know what you're asking about), but you can't really. It has mandatory 2-step authentication, so you can forget regularly importing your bank statements without an obnoxious verification code. read more

I have been with them for about 5 years. I currently have a savings, checking and home line of credit. I did have a credit card that was seldom used but as of January 31, 2023 it was closed by Northwest for lack of use. this was done without notifying me ahead of time and reported to TransUnion. I have still not received a notice from them that they closed the account and it still shows as active on mobile banking. read more

My husband opened an account right after Wood Products Credit Union started. Our account is almost 50 years old! When I added a checking account so I could access funds to transfer to another credit union, they charge me $8. Per month. Hopefully they closed the account and the savings as I'm tired of being ripped off. The other Credit Union (TLC ) doesn't charge me for a checking account because I get online statements, the same as I did for NWCCU. When I called the NWCU because I have concerns about my account. I was on hold twice, once over a half hour with no response. I finally texted and they called me. I had overdraft because more money came out of my account that I intended. A portion was returned. I spoke to lady about that concern and the impact of Covid and Forest fires on my business. Even though they suggested that help in those situations, they have have done little to help! I've been with this credit union for three years and I am leaving them as soon as possible! I have been a member of NWCU (previously Wood Products) since I was a kid. Let's just say that it has been a long time since I was a kid. I have continued to bank with them and I truly appreciate the personal service that I receive from them. I have been in three times in the past six months for various reasons. Most recently I was a victim of fraudulent ATM charges and I was contacted by their fraud department within hours of the charge. I was really impressed! One of my co-workers was involved in the same situation and her lending institution cancelled her card and called her two days later (after an embarrassing situation at a restaurant!). In this day and age, I appreciate service. Not only did I receive that from the fraud department but also at my local branch. I have worked with Lisa and she even remembers my name. Good job, NWCU. I've been a member for years literally 40 my father was the CEO back when it was Wood products. Seems like this credit union makes everything more difficult. Rates are always higher I have moved my accounts to rogue credit union and capital one and have been MUCH happier. I also work in the finance industry and northwest seldom gets lower rates for their existing customers, they constantly loose out to Selco and even Bank of American. So shop around people save some money and get better service. I have since closed everything with them good riddance. read more

I'm giving a single star only because of the fact that I cannot give zero or negative stars. This company refused to finance me on an auto loan even though I have long and demonstrated my ability to pay and above that particular income level. Then rejection letter stated various reasons, two of which could easily be explained as there was nothing I could do about them (number of inquiries) and (a tax lean which was paid in full, and long since discharged) It's this approval/disapproval via instant computer models that I have a distaste for. With a credit union, you're led to believe it's a community, and they are there to help. Yet, not in these cases. That is the specific reason why I would say not to do business here. read more

Worse Customer Service ever. I have had multiple credit cards sent to me over the last 30 days and none work. I was told another card was expedited to me 11 days ago. Called today and they have no record but want to test my old card again as she can't sent me another card. They have no records of my phone calls or logs of the problems. I was a member for years but after they moved downtown, all customer service went out the window. They feel more like a big bank than a local community credit union. I seriously have never seen such poor customer service in my life, I have a personal account that I was told would not coincide with a Existing joint accounts that I was supposed to be removed off of over a year ago, my husband deposit a Business check of his not realizing it is considered a third party check so they rejected it, so he was over in his bank, I cashed in my IRA accounts and had them transferred to my personal account, they took my IRA funds out to cover the other account, I called because he had already made arrangements with the bank, but as soon as they seen my money they took it and when I called, I was treated Beyond horrible, I was called a liar was told have your husband repay you back, I was told you should just close your account, my husband just closed his business account for their horrible customer service and how badly he's been treated, don't try to reach a higher up because they won't let you talk to them. I am sad to report that after 8+ years of banking with NWCU, I am leaving NWCU due to poor customer support and laziness. I created a new startup company that took over another active business and went to NWCU to get the business bank account and other financials ready for opening day. I worked with a representative at the green district office location to get everything going. At first the rep was great, but when asked to make some changes on the account the rep was very rude and lazy, quite frankly. I've banked here for about 4 years. Reliable customer service is a thing of the past. There is no longer participation in shared services with other Credit Unions, the CoPay program has proved unreliable. The stories they tell about it the Post office, the other banks ATM has problems etc. They don't send a new ATM card and I'm stuck with no access to my funds.
