It takes a few tries before really learning the ropes of this place, because the system is so disorganized. There are particular stations (ex. drinks, desserts, poultry, grains, canned goods, etc) that majority of the volunteers covered, and basically clients got in a line and circled around the facility, grabbing an item from each station. Volunteers only assisted people when clients couldn't reach at item. Other volunteers were the receptionist, who checked every client in, people who restocked the inventory or ran food drives in front of grocery stores. Cons: -the place is VERY small and with so many clients piling in, it gets cramped very quickly -as a volunteer, I feel like I'm not contributing anything at all; yes, some clients were grateful I was there, but I myself felt to gratitude -the permanent volunteers are very rude, bossy, and kind of like bullies (some of these volunteers claimed certain stations, not giving others a chance to be there) -the system is very disorganized. The parking lot was huge and surrounded by tall trees. The shade is great on hot summer days. There is a big play area in the grove of trees behind the community center. You walk through an art-filled garden to get to the door of the community center. Upon entering, there is a bronze statue of books right in front of you. Pretty cool! Off to the left is a kids area where they have Tot Time and story time for kids (there is a small charge to attend). Off to the right is a desk with a receptionist. The dance class is in a large room with mirrors on one of the walls. Our instructor is a local gentleman in his 50's. Such a wonderful teacher. Only 4 couples signed up for the class, but we have a lot of fun despite small numbers. I am anxious to take more classes at the B.C.C.!

The food bank is open to residents within the Auburn school district and has just recently been…read morerenovated to receive even more donations with a new walk-through room with a new shelving system up and down a U-shaped isle for consumers to walk around and have a clear color coded system to help me make my shopping at this location fast and easy! Today the holiday spirit was manifested by all who serves here, from a friendly staff to welcome you with coffee and a smile to all the people in our community who walk in and offer a super surprise donation, to our fellow neighbors with hearts a brimming about giving a damn about someone else with direction for how each new station works and one best part around the holidays is the eggnog, well this place has it and soft, butter rolls, check! Plus, it's time for the butternut squash, carrots and potatoes and yes! They have that and so much more! Really, I must of saved over 150$ in great grocery meal deals today and I can come back again! They help families twice a month! But don't take my word for it! Come on down and bring a picture ID and a proof of address for each member of your household, whether your related or not you can be happy here!

Northwest Center is a non-profit agency that runs schools for disabled kids and also works to…read moreprovide employment for disabled adults. The founders of NW Center were a group of parents who got together to get a bill passed through Congress to ensure that all children, regardless of development, receive an education. They gather donations via their Big Blue Truck and through Savers/Value Village stores. Items donated to these stores where they are the partner are weighed and a portion of their profits are given to NW Center. I came here for a business meeting and met with the CEO. He gave me a tour of the facility where they make beer and other products in partnership with various companies, giving jobs to deserving adults. He also gave me a full rundown of their agency and customer service departments. He was professional and kind throughout our meeting.

We would repackage grains, diapers, bagels, coffee, beans, etc. As well as sort cans and cereals into bins. It's a small place, but John seems to keep things running smoothly. They always seem to be overflowing with help and food around the holidays but slips from people's minds during the summer. It's disheartening to see the shelves get so bare. There are plenty of areas to volunteer, but parking is scarce. They offer a wide variety of foods to their patrons, sometimes including frozen meats and fresh produce. There is also a clothing bank run by Theresa in the other half of the building that we've donated to.

I am not sure what the Anonymous W person was talking about, several inaccuracies in their review, however I found this place quite organized with flexible opportunities. Schedule in advance on the online portal and there are so many ways you can help this organization. I have been taking one week off a year from work to spend time here, and my team (local tech giant) prefers to spend our limited holiday event budget attending a packing event, they will schedule in advance. We replaced the white elephant gift exchange with donating a wrapped gift for the kids. Yes, they do that too!! Don't take my (or the anonymous complainers) word for it, just go check them out online or in person. The work they are doing for our community is amazing. I wish there were more organizations like this.

One commenter said the volunteers weren't nice, I didn't find that but then I came in with another volunteer so who knows. Still this store performs a good service and more like this providing work training and I found out from one woman even training for students with special needs. We need more like this.
