He diagnosed…read morewith Stage 4 Breast Cancer that metastasized to the bone and stated that there is no known cure for bone cancer, but there is hope to slow it and when I asked him if I was going to die, he told me that he wasn't preparing me for a casket. In the days that followed i sat down with a friend of a friend who was battling Breast Cancer as well and asked her how do I pick a doctor, her response, "Find someone who is capable of making you believe you are capable of living because you will die with them." Ultimately I would meet with another oncologist at a top rated hospital to get the second opinion just to put my mind at ease and the treatment method came back as the same. I decided to stay with Northwest Oncology for treatment because my Oncologist and his staff made me believe that I was capable of living with cancer, which is ultimately what I am doing because there is no known cure. To my Oncologist, I'm not just a number, I am a person and I matter. Most people dread going to the oncologist, I love it because while these people see the worst of the worst, they smile at you, remember your name and they treat you like your human. When things don't feel right, they take me serious and their goal is to keep you living as long as possible. I can be honest with my Oncologist knowing that he won't make me feel like it's nothing. Everything I say is heard and it's amazing to know that no matter what happens, he's always got my back. This being said, a year ago I could barely walk and my family, friends, and employer were afraid of losing me. A year later, I'm walking normally, living in my dream home that I purchased a day before I hit 8 months of diagnosis and LIVING with cancer. Cancer tried to stop me, but thanks to Dr. Bruce Bank and his amazing team, we've found the solutions to the problems that have made living with cancer easier. Lastly, there is also this misconception about where you get treated and that some locations aren't as good as others. I'm here to put that to rest with Northwest Oncology. While it's Northwest Oncology, don't let the name fool you, the Oncologists communicate with multiple hospitals. For example: my Oncologist communicates with Oncologists from Loyola, to Northwestern, to UIC, etc. The Oncologists at Northwest Oncology are constantly looking for new treatments to help their patients. I've never seen a group of doctors so motivated to help their patients live than I have here. These Doctors are always going to conferences, learning about new drugs, speaking with companies that create the drugs needed for cancer patients. They are always keeping an eye out for studies that may better assist patients. So please remember that you can't judge a book simply by it's name because if you do, you may be missing the best part of what is in the pages.

I was uncomfortable with this so I went to MD Anderson. They said that treatment was like hitting it with a sledge hammer. I had targeted SBRT radiation treatment at MDA. Granted, you have to be seriously ill to end up here, but it feels like a cancer factory. The waiting room is usually jam-packed and the treatment room is stuffed to the gills with folks hooked up to chemo machines. They give each chemo patient a teeny tiny chair for their "guest" - extremely uncomfortable. My first experience with cancer and chemo so I can't compare to anything else, however, I find it totally unacceptable that they do not provide patients with any type of gown - not paper, not cloth, nothing. My only exam experience is with Dr. Manjunath, but you have disrobe in front of the Dr then get dressed in front of the Dr. I find this extremely rude, disrespectful, and downright cheap. Spend some $ on paper gowns - no excuse IMO.

Dr. Soble and all of his staff are warm, kind people who care about their patients. I watched as he took my mother's hand as she spoke, and then he listened to her and answered her questions. He gave her his card and told her she could call him at any time...and he meant it. I hope I never have to see Dr. Soble again, but not because he's not a wonderful doctor. His main office is in Barrington at Good Shepherd Hospital, but he has other locations in Lake Forest, Libertyville and McHenry.

This is against the Hypocratic Oath he swore to uphold AND the AMA. He is rude and condescending. And very uncaring. Both he and many of his staff do not know the meaning of "treating the whole patient". I will be honest, I was a little upset after they tried to send my husband, who had just had brain surgery and was diagnosed with brain cancer, downstairs for an MRI with staples in his head! This was after many screw ups on his end and that of his staff and the ICU/telemetry nurses at Centegra McHenry. I will be writing a letter to the Centegra Board, the AMA and Northwestern Hospital. Run! Run far away from this practice! If you are diagnosed with any form of cancer, head to Northwestern Hospital where they are kind, caring and compassionate! And did I mention brilliant! I wanted to give a "0" star rating but Yelp wouldn't let me!

I LOVE this doctor!!…read more After a harrowing medical experience, I needed a bone marrow biopsy. He was fast, professional, and explained everything as he was doing it. I was scared, but he immediately put me at ease with his demeanor. He was funny yet professional. Efficient yet friendly. He has a wonderful bedside manner. I wish every doctor were like him! When it came to reporting the results, he called me personally. How many doctors can you say that about? Not only that, but he called with a plan for follow-up. He was able to answer all of my questions in a way I understood, and he took the time to make sure I was comfortable with all of the information before we got off of the phone! I would recommend Dr. Priest to anyone!

Only one because ICS did not perform the required…read morepre-therapy medical interview (was told they were short staffed and don't worry, you'll be fine). Within four hours, the side effects began to shut my body down. My doctor said I was "one in a million and would be "one and done" with the treatment as my body could not handle the drug. Unable to treat my crippling condition I set out to visit other doctors. After numerous tests, exams and copays I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG). A new, life long condition that put me in the hospital for an IVIG week long treatment. I am now in Hospice waiting to die from my cancer or another MG crisis . . . thanks Illinois Cancer Specialists. A warning to any one thinking about going to ICS for treatment, make sure you know what your getting into, they don't. Or, they just won't tell you.
