Catkins Animal Rescue…read more I am somewhat handicapped and had a very difficult time having someone take me nearly 50 miles one way to Catkins Animal rescue in Park Falls, Wisconsin. I had some special request for a kitty that I plan to have live here the rest of my life. After applying online and being accepted, I corresponded several times with a manager.Tonya who runs one of the best animal shelters I have ever seen in my 82 years of existence. After filling out a preliminary question and waiting a short time for them to process my information, I was able to talk to Tonya and explain some personal concerns about an adoption. Tonya was extremely helpful as I explained that because of my age I arranged that any cat that I adopted would be taken care of if anything happened to me. After spending time explaining exactly what I was hoping for Tonya said she would keep an eye out and give me a call if some kitty might be a good fit. About a week later she gave me an appointment and my friend drove me on the 100 mile round trip. I have been to many shelters and there were several that were much closer but the best decision I could have made was to travel to Park Falls, WI. Unlike many places Catkins has separate facilities for dogs and cats. They also arrange that appointment was just for me and I could see every cat and meet them personally. I was able to meet a little black kitty who was only a couple of months old but immediately I was able to bond with it and then ended up bringing it home. I've had it for a couple of months now and it is the best thing I've had in my life for a long time. Tonya and this exceptional animal shelter have made a great difference in my life. It certainly was an excellent experience and I would highly recommend that anyone interested in getting a dog or a cat consider making the trip to Park Falls Wisconsin.

Not only do they rescue pups from various, rough living conditions, they work to get them happy and healthy and find their forever homes! All correspondence via email, telephone, and in person was exceptional! I drove over 4 hours each way to get my dog and they were super accommodating. I've been in touch with them since adopting my dog, because they are so great! If you are looking to add a pet to your family, check this place out! They have various animals, not just pups!
