What can I say about this ship that hasn't already been said? It's not for everyone due to it's small size. We weren't in love with our suite experience. With that said, it was the excellent service received and the itinerary that won us over. First of all, I'm not sure how anyone can really judge NCL strictly from one sailing on the 2nd to the oldest ship in the fleet. Yes, it's even older than the Norwegian Epic. Ha! Our expectations were low from the day we booked this cruise. That may be why we have a totally different perspective. We've seen the best that NCL has to offer (The Haven), and now we've seen the lower end of the spectrum for suite guests. It was a good experience despite the size and age of the ship. At the same time, I can see why people love it or hate it. I'll start with the negative and end with the positive. I hated the Northern Crown Suite's (9201) master bath. I think I'm just spoiled by the newer bathroom setups on other NCL ships. It was clean, but very cramped and outdated. It wasn't picture worthy. There was also a musty smell coming from the shower drain. Thankfully, the L'Occitane products made it all disappear while in use. On a brighter note, the shower pressure was outstanding. Yay! The hot tub on the balcony is also old & outdated. It looks more like a jacuzzi bathtub. You might want to book the 8th deck counterpart that has a larger hot tub. In all fairness, we didn't get to use it. The weather was unseasonably cold for the month of May in Northernn Europe. It just took up a lot of space on a balcony that's already crowded with outdoor furniture. Honestly though, it was probably one of the nicer rooms on the ship. The rest of the room was very comfortable and somewhat spacious. We slept very well and that's really all that matters. Having a separate half bath by the entrance was a nice perk as well. I'm giving this ship a 4-star review for other things that made this cruise so special. Our Concierge, Cabin Attendant, & Butler were all amazing. I hope to see them all again on other NCL ships in the near future. This ship will be transitioning to Cordelia Cruises towards the end of the year. I think the Sky will be missed. There aren't many cruise ships left of this size in the fleet. I love the conveniences that smaller ships have to offer. It was so easy disembarking at port of calls even without priority. I think we only had about 1200 passengers onboard. The elevators were rarely full. The stairs are easily accessed because you're only utilizing 8 decks. The ship's size is also ideal for navigating through rivers such as the Thames and the Elbe. It was the first time we've ever heard the 3 warning blasts from a cruise ship. The sailboats in front of us scattered quickly away after they heard it. How's that for excitement? I absolutely love the jogging/walking track on Deck 6. It was like being transported back into another time. There are mirrors on each corner as you make your way to the back of the ship. They were very useful in peeking around the inside corners to prevent people from accidentally running into others coming from the opposite direction. We used this track a lot while at sea. It was fun! Also, the fitness area was very well equipped with beautiful sea views. It was just another alternative when it was too cold and windy on deck. The food was pretty average. We dined in the MDR for the first time. It was better than expected. The buffet was just okay. We liked the crepes station the best. The specialty dining was average as well. I think the Sugarcane Mojito Bar probably wowed us the most. The newer Prima Class ships don't have this bar. So, I'm ending again on another high note. TL;DR - Would I book a cruise on a ship of this size again? Well, it depends on the itinerary. I must admit that Norwegian Sky looks kind of cute wearing a lei on her hull. She was once named the "Pride of Aloha" during her heyday in Hawaii. Her crew loves her. I could tell by the many conversations we had with each one that we encountered during our week long cruise. We can totally see why she's won the hearts of many after finally experiencing it for ourselves. Hopefully others will get an even better experience when she's the Cordelia Sky. read more

Loud Obnoxious Music and ghetto starved patrons who act like they were just released from Aufchwitz. Very Rowdy. Forget the pool. Specialty food sucked. Buffet not good. I already wrote a separate review for Norwegian Cruise Lines. Still, I wanted to write a review for the ship we cruised on which was the Norwegian Sky. Without a doubt, it was the worst cruise ship that we have ever cruised on. We've now gone on 20 cruises, and the Norwegian Sky ranks last compared to all of them. Don't know if all the ships in the Norwegian Cruise Line are like this ship because this was the first cruise we've ever taken with NCL. From the time we stepped foot on the ship, things were below average. The staff member who greeted us looked at our cruise card, and sent us to the wrong part of the ship for our cabin. We were told that by the next employee we met. This next employee also told us we needed to have a sticker placed on our card which notified them that we had already completed the Muster Drill online. The fact that so many staff members did not know what they were doing was an ongoing issue during our 13 night cruise on the Norwegian Sky. The staff on the Sky was definitely not as friendly, knowledgeable, and professional as compared to the staff on all the other cruises we've experienced over the years. We stepped into our cabin, and my wife's face just dropped. She was shocked at how small our interior room was. For the majority of our cruises, we always book interior cabins. None of them have been as small as this one. Good thing we packed light because it was a tight squeeze inside there. The cabin was also very warm. The A/C was not working very well at all. We told our cabin steward, and he informed maintenance. Well, the cabin never got any cooler the entire trip. We stopped complaining because we noticed that even the lobby on our deck was very warm as well. Eventually, we grew used to the uncomfortable warmth of the cabin. How were the services? They boast that they have the BEST internet at Sea! That is a blatant LIE!!!! The internet was simply terrible!! So many passengers complained throughout the trip about it!! There was NO self-service laundry!! Had to pay to get some of clothes washed. Good thing they offered a deal one of the days of our cruise. Entertainment was good. We only watched a couple of shows, and that was during the latter part of our cruise. We did miss out on that part. The food at the buffet court was fine. We were always satisfied with at least one or two entree choices. During breakfast time, there were a couple of staff members who entertained passengers with their singing and other antics. They were great!! Also, liked the ice cream station during lunch and dinner time. We tried two of the Specialty dining restaurants. Both were above average, and the service at both of those restaurants were very good. Tried the traditional dining area once. The service there was awful and very slow!! Never went back after that. Although, there were some good things about the ship and its staff. As I mentioned earlier, compared to all the other ships we've been on, the Norwegian Sky and its staff were the worst!!!! Because of this plus other factors about the cruise line itself, it is very doubtful that we will ever cruise NCL again. The itinerary and destinations we visited on this NCL cruise were fantastic!!! Unless we find another itinerary at a great price from NCL, the chances of cruising with on the Norwegian Sky or any other NCL ship is very slim based on this first time experience with them. read more

In my 200+ reviews, this is my only 1-star. This was my first cruise and certainly will be my last. My fiancee and I were invited along by friends and we still cannot believe people spend in the vicinity of $500 per day, at minimum, to stay in a floating motel-6, eat cafeteria food, and then get dumped off on an overcrowded island to (apparently) contemplate the purchase of a t-shirt, or let a local rent you a chair for $20 on a public beach. For the money, you can do better. Far better. Normally, I'd simply chock up the experience as mediocre and leave a 2 or 3-star review except for an incident that occurred on grand stirrup cay, the private island owned by Norwegian cruise line. An over-served, belligerent, classless group of young men thought it funny to begin throwing rocks at their fellow swimmers. One hit my lovely fiancee in the head. The young men fled the scene and returned to the boat and the security crew told me that the cameras on grand stirrup cay, unfortunately, were all aimed at the tops of the umbrellas and they could not see the patrons throwing rocks at other guests in the water. This is a blatant lie. The most risky place for an incident to occur is in the water. This was not incompetence, but simply a means to keep us from having access to footage that would certainly have resulted in a lawsuit. They own the island. This isn't the jurisdiction of the Bahamas. Zero excuses. So, be warned, if ANYTHING happens on Grand Stirrup Cay - an accident, a crime, ANYTHING - you will be stonewalled and never made whole. In response to the letter we wrote the corporation, we were offered a $300 voucher should we wish to attend another Norwegian Cruise within a year. How insulting to be assaulted at a venue and to be offered the opportunity to return to the scene of the crime at a 10% discount? We certainly will not be using that worthless gesture. Ridiculous. All in, we spent $2500 to be there for 4 days where we ate meh food, got assaulted by guests, and, as a coup de grâce, contracted Covid in those tight quarters - everyone in our party tested positive. So, do something else with your hard earned money. Visit a place of culture - you can easily do so with that budget. Avoid the floating, intoxicated, halfway house, awash with cretins that is Norwegian Cruise Lines. read more

First time cruiser here and an all girls birthday trip was a definite hit. Friend booked it for our group and itinerary was layed out for us all so it made everything easy to understand. Boarding was a cinch and all the staff on board is ridiculously friendly. After checking in we went straight to lay out by the pool untill our rooms were ready and started with drinks. A live band played and after a dj to get the crowd going. A buffet was available on the same floor so grabbing a bite to eat was just a few steps away. Next day we dailed to their private island where there were activities to purchase like snorkeling, zip lining, and more. We opt to hang by the beach. Again drinks and food are here along with a DJ who started the crowd off with fun games and then popular music. Every night on the ship we had made dinner reservations which I highly recommend as it can become booked. Theres plenty of activity and nightly entertainment on board like comedy hour, dances, and of course several night clubs and bars...pick your poison. Our last stop in Nassau was easy on and off the ship. We explored the island and hung with locals and ate the best damn jerk chicken I've had yet. Bring cash flow for this. Back on board were back at the bar and enjoying ice cream cones to refresh us from the hot day. Our rooms were cozy yet comfortable and clean. We had a room with a porthole that was huge and every morning I'd look for fish. Everytime we would come back to our room we'd have fresh towels, our beds made, and bathrooms cleaned. The pampering was real. Our little weekend birthday getaway for our dear friend was a fabulous retreat for us all and would definitely do this again. read more

I spent 20 Minutes doing an NCL Post cruise survey for this cruise experience and the survey website was hard to navigate so I will Share My thoughts on Yelp as I should always as first choice. This cruise was a bit disappointing. I've Been on the similar Cruise 2 other times, No issues. 4 day Bahamas cruise with stops in Grand Stirrup cay and Nassau. This trip, no water to shower on 2 days when I tried to take a shower and on the 3rd day the toilet didn't flush for the entire afternoon. I used The Public Toilets near the Stairs. All Dirty, Greasy Floors. I Almost fell a few times stepping into the washroom. I complained at Guest Services. Most popular bars lacked staff so it took forever to get drinks, oftentimes I ended up going to other bars less crowded to get a drink. To Be Honest Bar Service was pathetic. I have never been on another cruise line, But after this experience I have to at least look at other Cruise options in the future. They got me for 1 more cruise since I pre-paid a deposit from my prior cruise. I tried to get a refund on board this trip and they said no, I had fun but I have had better NCL Cruises. I stayed loyal but this cruise was a flop. All Good things come to an end sooner or later. The Food I ate was good. 3 out of 4 Good Dinner Meals. My room was nice , balcony on the 9th deck. Yelp has no presence in Cuba, so I'll quickly review the ship that took me and my Beloved to Havana and then describe the time we spent ashore. NCL Sky ******* We sailed on the Norwegian Cruise Lines Sky, one of the line's smallest ships, which was refurbished in 2013. "Smaller" means more comfortable (less crowded), but with fewer entertainment and dining choices. That being said, we're experienced enough at cruising to use the stairs when the elevators are jammed, to bring books, and to avoid the buffet. The ship provided typical cruise fare: fancier than you'd eat at home, yet unexceptional, and odd, in that the galley's institutional cooking even made Indian food taste bland. No one ever died from eating such stuff, but it's not much of a life. As has been the case on previous cruises, I found Sky's spa poorly managed by people who, it appeared, weren't direct employees of NCL, and who thus felt no need to satisfy the ship's passengers. Caveat emptor. One other note: because the Miami-Havana itinerary is short and relatively inexpensive, we found more passengers in their twenties than on any other ship we've sailed. This, in itself, isn't a problem, but it was notable to this old man that the kids had no awareness of the oddity of our trip. I imagined them saying, "Hey, it's too cold to drive to the Shore; let's go to Cuba, instead." The fact that we were among the first Americans to legally visit the country in almost 60 years seemed not to be a big deal to them was strange to me, and I wondered if our schools have stopped teaching civics, government and history. Cuban Cuisine ************ By far, the best Cuban food I've eaten was served to me in Miami, not Havana. South Florida is home to a huge community of Cuban émigrés whose restaurants and, presumably, home kitchens, combine abuelita's recipes with ingredients of high quality. Before and after our cruise, we dined in Hialeah, "Flagami" and Miami's Little Havana. We avoided tourist spots like La Carreta and Versailles, and particularly enjoyed La Rosa Restaurant. Cuba, a Communist dictatorship that lost its Soviet and Venezuelan patrons years ago, is poor, and its scarce resources, which are managed closely by the government, are distributed among the country's elites, only sparingly shared with the people. One might expect that Comedor de Aguiar, the fine dining venue at the country's-best Hotel Nacional de Cuba, would qualify as "elite", but, treating ourselves, we found filet mignon that was tough to chew and shrimp that had been frozen and thawed at least once. Around Havana, neither a morning cortadito, a lunch plate, nor various street foods were better than mediocre. Maybe the food is better in the countryside, but I don't think so. Views of La Habana ****************** Havana's streets are made more colorful by the its famous vintage cars, which cruise in their thousands, offering taxi and tour services to tourists (I didn't see locals riding as passengers in these vehicles). * Down the centuries, Havana's builders have employed stone and iron doused in browns, greys and splashy, strong pastels, all organized according to the dominant architectural style: Beaux Arts; Art Deco; Modernist. Much of Havana is framed by this ancient, beautiful architecture, but, sadly, it is rendered decrepit and occasionally dangerous by rot. The jungle reclaims everything, eventually, and the molded-out sills and plaster worn by every building not important to tourism are harbingers of sad decline. * The Habaneros that I met - including the taxi I hired for a day - were kind and pleasant people, but, unlike people I've engaged with elsewhere, these folks seemed uninterested in the world outside their island, and, while they talked about what things were - the history of a building, say, or the arrangement of a park - they hesitated to discuss what things meant to them, or really, to share opinions at all. Communist domination, it seems, is a real conversation-killer. * Havana was hot and muggy, interesting, pretty, pleasant and depressing. I'm glad that I visited, but can't say I enjoyed the place, and I would return to Cuba, but only to visit the countryside, and maybe to fish. This was my first cruise experience and I'm already looking forward to future cruises. It was 5 days and 4 nights with stops at Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay, and Freeport. Once we landed in Miami, we took an Uber to the Port of Miami. In hindsight I should have confirmed with NCL about which terminal I needed to go at the port to board the ship. I googled it and said it was Terminal B, but once we got there we were told it was Terminal D. So we had to walk our luggage to a different Terminal (albeit it took like 10-15 minutes), which was annoying because they could have just told us initially on our boarding pass where to go after we get to Miami. Otherwise, the trip was great. The staff was very welcoming and the food was good. Breakfast foods just repetitive but I guess there's only so many different options for breakfast. The drinks were plentiful and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a drink. The entertainment was great and there's something for everyone. My personal favorite day was the Great Stirrup Cay -- best beach, good beach party, great water, and bars that serve drinks all day. read more

I took my first cruise a few weeks ago on the Norwegian Sky out of Miami, Florida. My niece chose this cruise for her birthday and she liked that this cruise, even though it was only 3-days, had two stops along the way, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau, Bahamas. And the alcohol was included in the price which was amazing. We were on the 10th floor and our stateroom was big enough for two twin beds a small couch and a desk. The restroom was pretty tiny too with the smallest shower I've ever seen LOL. But we were not in the room that much so the room size didn't bother me. There were several buffet type restaurants and two sit down restaurants which were all included in the price. There was a steakhouse and a sushi restaurant that were ala carte which we did not try. The sit-down restaurant served our favorite meals. One evening I had a lamb shank and it was amazing! There was so much to do on board. As we left the port in Miami there was a big party on the pool deck for our departure. One night there was an all white party. Check the newsletter they provide each day so you're aware of all the activities. We went to the nightclub every night which had a great DJ and we danced the night away. Another evening we checked out a comedian who was hilarious. They do get you with the internet charge. We chose one of the cheaper plans which allowed us to view and upload to major social media sites. We shared one plan so it helps save a little bit. But know that if you share only one person can be logged in at a time. Also be aware of the $19.99 daily service fee they will automatically charge to the credit card you give them at check in. In order to buy anything on board you must give them a credit card at check-in and you simply use your room key card to make purchases throughout the ship. I brought cash and tipped the bartenders and restaurant service personnel on my own. The last day I was able to go to the customer service counter and filled out a form and had them remove the $60 charges from my credit card. I really enjoyed my first cruise. The ship staff were great and the entertainment staff were very energetic. I would most definitely cruise with Norwegian again! read more

Embarking -Arrive early! Have your luggage tags printed and cash ready to tip your porter -BRING A PEN. You will have to fill out a brief questionnaire and there are no pens at the tables. -Another reason to get there early is so you have time to board, have lunch and explore the ship. -If you plan to hit the pool right away come in your bathing suit and ready to go or bring it in a carry-on. You will not receive your luggage in your state room until later on in the afternoon. So bring any essentials in your carry-on bag. -PUT ON SUNSCREEN BEFORE YOU ARRIVE!!! You have no idea how many bad sunburns that occurred before the ship even left the Inlet! This Caribbean sun is no joke and if you don't want to ruin your vacation with sun poisoning. Come prepared. Food/Drinks - Overall, I feel that the food was good. We ate at the main dining room every night and in the buffet for breakfast and lunch. It's kind of like upgraded cafeteria/banquet food. There were some really amazing things, there were some OK things and then a few dishes we did not care for. The good thing is if you don't like something in the main dining room you can always switch it out. - Drinks were really good! Their strawberry daiquiri was my favorite. Unfortunately they were everyone's favorite because they ran out on the second day. Luckily the private island we stopped on had more available. I feel that they were generous with the alcohol. They use good quality brands so it was not watered down at all. The Ship - Older, smaller ship compared to others BUT The Sky is incredibly well maintained. Ship also went through a major renovation in 2018. -They have hand sanitizer everywhere you look and employees who are spraying people's hands with sanitizer as well. At the buffet, they periodically change out the utensils and replace them with clean ones. The staff is very conscientious when it comes to cleanliness. - All of the staff worked incredibly hard for guests on our cruise. Everyone was helpful and polite. Stateroom - We opted to save some money and went with an inside cabin. The room was very small. It would be perfect for one person but two people staying there was cramped. I think next time we will upgrade to a balcony. You basically had to climb over the cabinet that contains the refrigerator to get into the bed. -Clean, well maintained. HOT shower. In room safe. Hair dryer. All the basics you need. -Beds and pillows were not the most comfortable unfortunately. - You WILL be charged $19.99 PER PERSON for house keeping DAILY. That's a lot of money if you ask me. Especially when I just asked for towels a few times without full service. I think they should just build that price into the cruise instead of tacking that on at the end. I did not like that business practice. Disembarking - Super easy! We only brought one big suitcase for the both of us so we opted for the easy walk off disembarking. You have a few hours in the morning to get breakfast and then if you carry your bags out yourself you literally can walk right off the ship. If you have a lot of luggage and need help you will have to get a color card and wait for your color to be called in order to leave. In my opinion, it's almost worth it to pack light to be able to just walk off the ship. - Once you pass customs there are a ton of taxis waiting outside. You can also call your Uber from that area too. All in all we had a fun time. I'm going to write a separate review about the actual itinerary. NCL Did a great job at keeping order on our cruise and I would definitely recommend to cruise with them. read more

Let me start with the good, Food- good and plentiful. Service staff- so kind and hard working. Let me start with the bad, Oceanview stateroom - mildew smell coming and going maybe A/C. Water quality in stateroom - Brown/Rust in color for a whole day at sea. My wife and I couldn't leave our room because we couldn't clean our bodies and brush our teeth. Guest Services sent a guy who keep running the sink hoping it would clear, it didn't so he requested a plumber, no plumber came. The next day Guest Services called and asked if it cleared this morning. For a expensive cruise line you should spend a couple hundred dollars on a faucet filter. This kill the mood of relaxing vacation. Oh and they gave me a coin and pin for my military service, I would exchange it for clean water on a luxury liner, I had to many dirty water days in the desert. read more

This was our very first cruise. My wife has always been reluctant to go on a cruise. Every excuse from sickness on board, falling no over board, and my favorite "rouge waves", well I finally convinced her. So we decidedly on a three day cruise for our maiden voyage. So we flew to Florida on Friday morning and boarded the "Norwegian Sky" around noon time. When we got on board it was too early to check into our cabin so we just explored the ship. Hundreds of people moving around all areas of the ship. The crowds were a little turn off, but a friend forwarded me. After we checked into our cabin unpacked and headed to the top deck where the food, pools, and hot tubs were, the crowds seemed to thin out. Right off the bat I wasn't impressed with the buffet but found a better atmosphere and choice of food in the specialty restaurants. First stop Saturday morning was Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegians private island. Water was beautiful but a little cold, so we just relaxed on the beach for the day, and relaxing it was. Again plenty of food and drinks. On the ride back to the ship I started to see a trend... Drinking Drinking, and more drinking. Mostly a younger crowd who were there to party, and party they did. Entertainment every night, all night. By 11:00 PM we were done. Sunday was a day in Nassau, Bahamas. Early in the morning we walking into town to see the shopping areas. We were pressured by people selling everything you could think of. We ended up taking a guided tour of Nassau. Mostly a very poor area. Average wage $250-350 per week. Back to the ship for the last night of the cruise. Did I mention the drinking and partying? Well the last night you could times it by 10. People were falling down drunk. Monday morning we are back in Miami. I know this review might seem negative but honestly we had an overall good time. We will have to cruise again for a longer trip with different stops. It was our first time and we had s lot to learn. As for the Norwegian I must say everyone was very nice and always helpful and smiling. With the exception of the buffet the food was excellent. I chose an experiment and turned my phone off for three days. I'm usually tied to it and emailing clients all Day. Not these days and I loved it. So when I turned my phone back on there was a problem. It appears that my phone was hacked. I checked with on board services and a young man somehow fixed it. Forever indebted. So we will be back, Norwegian, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or any of the others. I can get used to this. read more

First cruise. The ship was smaller than most but great for a 1st timer. The rooms were clean and the staff attentive. Our room was cleaned twice a day and done very well. There really weren't any places or activities for toddlers. The family pool was on 12 and always had adults in it. The food was not so great. Quite bland and basic. I refer to it as resort food. We purchased priority access. Our boarding was very smooth and a great experience. Disembarking was also very smooth and organized. All shore excursions were done through the ship and everything was laid out for us each day. The ship uses very reputable excursion companies. Their island, Great Stirrup Cay, part of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas is gorgeous and relaxing. All of the staff and crew were very warm and friendly. I would definitely cruise with Norwegian again. I would recommend at least a splash pad for the little ones. read more

My first and only Cruise to the Bahamas for a three day cruise on the Norwegian Sky. It was a nice ship. It had a lot to offer. I however found the cabins to be to small for my taste. I know that most don't spend a lot of time in the cabins, but I want room to move around. The dining was good. Cruise ship cuisine. I don't have a lot to say about the ship as far as entertainment goes. I was there for the sun and spent most of it on the deck, reading. The off shore trip to Nassau was okay, too many three day trips, I have seen it all. I would recommend this ship and Norwegian. I found it a bit more expensive then the other cruise lines. Royal or Carnival. I don't see the upgrade expense for the money. This was my 6th cruise all together. read more

NO KIDS CLUB...buyer beware! And bait and switch too! Like an idiot I vaccinated my son so we can go on this cruise maskless and without all the screaming kids since they required masks for everyone over 5, I knew this would t be popular. Then lo and behold 3 days before we cruise, they changed the requirement till after 12 years old and closed the kids club for kids under 13! OMG so I go on the cruise to spend all day with my kid and he doesn't get to make friends because there's nowhere to really do that if the kids club is closed. For my birthday this year, we decided on a short (4-night) cruise to Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas) and Cuba (the privilege of visiting Cuba cost an extra $75 p.p.). This is the first time we're with Norwegian, and I have to say that we were quite pleased overall. While this is an older ship, our cabin on Deck 10 was reasonably comfortable - even if an initial problem with the bathroom needed immediate attention: it STANK! But we soon found the culprit (the shower curtain!), got rid of it, and it was all good. The food turned out to be better than we had anticipated, thereby making it unnecessary to indulge in the fine-dining options. The other thing was, this particular sailing is a 'free-for-all' when it comes to the department of 'al-cah-all" - well, ALMOST! Even though we'd called ahead, and were told by two separate agents that the wines included included name brands (which they couldn't pronounce, neither of them), it turned out that wines included were the cheap house brands only, and the pricier cognacs and other after-dinner drinks WERE extra. But mixed drinks (involving my favorite Campari, or not), draft beers (not a great choice, but...) are gratis! And despite what I said about the house wines being 'cheap', the Sauvignon Blanc was quite decent, the Chard and Cab were OK (but the Merlot and PN are, well, not recommended). The nightly entertainment was quite entertainment - Keith the comedian had me laughing harder than I could remember in a while (even if he rehashed some material the second night already). I was happy with the gym, too, but did not use the spa on this trip. I do have certain gripes, the reason I took away the star. 1) Other than the afore-mentioned misinformation they gave on their wines (or else I would have brought a nice bottle for my birthday, the $15 corkage be damned), the crap they told customers before the cruise, that you can ONLY go ashore with one of THEIR excursions. Simply not true. After doing a bit of homework, we booked a walking tour with our travel agent that ended up being $35 cheaper than going with them, and it included a lunch, with a drink, which by their description the NCL one didn't. 2) Their 'water' policy; most cruise ships have colluded to not allow customers to bring potable water with them, under the guise of 'security' and 'customer service', both bogus. But then to turn around to peddle expensive water once you're onboard is just criminal. So ironic that, on this cruise, booze is free, but water will cost you! Good thing we planned ahead, brought a Brita squeeze bottle along, filled it with water from the fountain at the gym (which, BTW, IS already filtered), and had all the clean water we needed at zero extra cost. Daughter and I just returned from a beautiful 4 day cruise ... Miami to Havana! The trip was perfect, but this review is about the cruise ship. We had never taken a Norwegian cruise before. This Sky ship was clean, easy to navigate, and just the right size for me and my kiddo to feel at home pretty quickly. I imagine one of the bigger ships would have me literally "lost at sea" every day, and traveling with an 8yo, it's important to feel oriented and not overwhelmed by massive hordes of people or lots of distracting bells and whistles. To be clear, there are lots of people (especially at the buffet, but not too bad at all). We are from NYC so maybe we're used to bigger crowds. There are nightly entertainment shows that were very safe/a little bit cheesy... like rock hit mashups and glittery costumes.. the unlimited alcohol feature is nice, but not something I get to take advantage of when traveling with my Cub; I imagine it's a huge draw for most. For all the people on board (taking advantage of the unlimited free drinks) I had wondered if the ship would be a little disheveled or hard to maintain. It was spotless. And - come to think of it - I didn't witness any drunken scenes or drunk people at all! (Not that I'm judging! But travelers with kids might want to know). Course, we were in bed by 10 each night anyway, haha! For the kids, there is an onboard kids club separated by age categories, all the way up to a teen club that has access to a special "teen zone", I believe. We explored the kids club but didn't wind up using it. Usually, I have to put in full work hours when I'm on vacation so the kids clubs are requisite whenever we travel, but somehow we didn't need it on the Sky! There was plenty for kiddo to do or look at while I worked on my laptop when I needed to. The unlimited WiFi package was less than 50 bucks for the duration of the cruise, so definitely get that. You'll still have periods of time with frustratingly slow or no signal ... and in Havana, zero chance of a connection so log off before port! We're vegetarians, so the Sky buffet was perfect. (I can't speak to any of the a la Carte restaurants because a certain little human always wanted to hit the buffet .. every meal ... every day ). That said, buffet food was different every day, had plenty of variety even for our limited diets, and everything tasted fresh and delicious! I'm not a foodie so I don't have photos of plates to share, but our plates were always licked clean pretty quick anyway! (I think there might be one photo). Just returned from 4 night cruise to Havana, Cuba and loved everything about this ship! While the ship is older (1994, I believe) it provides excellent value and service is second to none. Our stateroom was located at the end of the hall (#9203) and was just so quiet all the time. We never heard any noise from passengers in adjoining room, or people walking in the hall, and no sound of engines, etc. Our room was the perfect size for the two of us. We had a king bed, small sofa, picture window, small desk/vanity. Our cabin steward had a new towel animal on our bed every morning and every night. This ship provides unlimited beverages in pricing (yes, this includes soda, alcohol and mixed drinks - this is approx a $60 value/person/day on other ships.) We purchased the unlimited internet package and found service to be very reliable. No problems with connectivity or speed. Definitely recommend traveling on Norwegian Sky! read more

NCL - The check-in process of the boat is pure chaos and annoying. And I think them asking for a card for incidentals on the spot was rather off putting. I almost didn't want to enter the boat when they basically forced me to hand them over a card and seemed like such jerks about it too or they wouldn't allow me on the boat and I would lose all of my money for the cruise. Maybe something was lost in translation but the guy seemed like a giant turd through the check-in process for sure. The inside staterooms are smaller than expected but at least we had just enough room for our suitcase on their small couch or loveseat or whatever that is in front of the bed. They make use of every inch of space in every corner of the room, including the bathroom. Showering is interesting as it's like being in a perfect cylinder and it's all good until I want to wash and condition my hair at all. The sink counter is made of plastic and is cracked on the top right and it looks like there's 4 missing screws that may have been used to nail down the panel of the sink base, but the ones left serve no purpose at all. The sharp crates is likely for guests that have to take daily shots or something but appear they are supportive of crack attacks or the like too. They took 2 twins together to make one bed for us but it's not a true single because my husband's legs hang off the end of it and he would normally just fit on a single bed length. The gap in between was awful for sleeping and no attempt was made to bridge the gap at all. The buffet at the outdoor cafe was mostly burgers, hotdogs and sausages and stuff for those items, some fruit and salad fixings and that's about it. I ate some fruit there once and was beyond disappointed when our Cuba on shore excursions brought us back to the boat and forced us to eat at the outdoor cafe since that is all that was opened then. The garden cafe was a slight step up from the outdoor cafe but only with a few more distinct main entrees of meat or fish and hot dish items, other than that it was mostly the same offerings as the outdoor cafe. The crossing and the palace had a nicer sit down setup and warm food and fresh too, thankfully there were these complementary options, otherwise I would have abhorred the entirety of the food on the ship. We enjoyed the relaxed and nice and friendly atmosphere best at the crossing restaurant. Ienil was our favorite waitress and we always requested and waited for table in her section if she had a station that day. She was the best face and representative of great hospitality for Norwegian and the only reason I could give them a 2 Star. We always received our best service from Ienil at the crossing for breakfast or at lunch along with her partner Inis. They work so well together and made the experience so good and wonderful for certain. I think the check-in and corralling process for the excursions and getting to our tour group within the boat was a complete cluster and the boat staff weren't well communicating on where we all needed to line up and some would get nasty with us if we were standing beyond the line. Needless to say the lining up once our group was called down to the lower level to start departing the boat was an absolute stressful mess for everyone involved to say the least. I am looking forward getting off this boat immensely. It's been a very average trip so far. Anytime we missed lunch at the crossing and had to eat salad and things at the garden cafe with the mob of people was a most unpleasant experience. This was my first time cruise and I have no interest in doing it again, ever. The $418 for 2 people cruise cost was increased by an additional $333 of government fees, port fees and other fees for 2 people and then an additional $159 for 2 of us for mandatory gratuity for waitstaff and the cleaning room chamber that they will charge to your on board account by increments of $40 for 2 people per day. I find it ridiculous that they charge you for bottled water for all inclusive yet all beer bottles, cocktails, wines, juices and club soda after free and part of the all inclusive part. They also add a 20% service fee if you purchase cigars and pretty much anything you buy on the ship that isn't included in the all inclusive price. They try to get you to buy art, jewelry, wine, champagne, dinner reservations at their not included restaurants, special coffees and anything else they can convince you to buy to get a buck or more out of you. It's as if they hire and train all service employees to be hustlers. read more

The Sky was our first Norwegian Cruise and we were so impressed. We have cruises with bahama paradise and Carnival. The ship was smaller, and not as elegant as the carnival ship we were on but overall it was a great ship! The food was good, and the actives were fun and entertaining. Staff wise the assistant cruise director was more upbeat and exciting than the cruise director. The stewardess was precise and even folded our clothes for us. The dining staff was always fun and had great suggestion. The food varieties were broad and the desserts we byfar my favorite. The buffet was a little smaller than what we were use to but had unique food options and themed for lunch and dinner. We loved the option of freestyle dining and eating dinner when we pleased and still having the same server. What made this ship a favorite in my book was the open bar!!!! My husband and I easily drank our cruise price in alcohol alone. There was no limit and it shockingly was good labels too and not the bottom of the line liquor. This open bar also applies to their island- Great Stirrup Cay. There were multiple bars and all were included. There was also a delicious BYO taco bar and a buffet included on the island as well. read more

This was my second Norwegian cruise. At this particular time this ship comes with an all you can drink package in the price of every ticket. They have a good selection of beer and liquor including Titos vodka. It was always easy to get a drink somewhere and the bar staff for the most part made consistently good drinks. I give this cruise three stars due to the food and service. Both Norwegian cruises I went on had horrible food and service in the dining restaurant and the buffet food was just bad. They actually serve meatloaf at the carving station at the buffet which is just wrong. Water was difficult to get and they try to sell you water packages that are expensive when they will deliver a pitcher of drinkable tap water to your room for free. Took over 45 minutes to get water but it was free. I asked if the tap water in the room was drinkable and they did not know but there are glasses located in several areas of the tiny rooms. I will pick a different cruise line for future cruises. read more

3.5 stars. Went on a 4-night Christmas cruise to the Bahamas with my parents. The Norwegian Sky was super fun! Entertainment was always a riot-they have the usual array of comedy shows, musicals, performances, etc. but they also include many live shows that involve audience participation, which include their renditions of Dancing with the Stars, Newly Wed versus not so Newly Wed, etc. The entertainment was definitely the highlight of the ship, but unfortunately the food was not. With the exception of dinner, everything was very mediocre. Service was also average. The crew was always nice but I didn't get as much of a sense that they were really going above and beyond. The staterooms are pretty small (at least the ones for 3 adults) but definitely bearable for a few nights. I thought 4 nights was the perfect amount of time! read more

The people that work for Norwegian at the call center to make adjustments to reservations are clueless to the world. Everything about the ship is a zero, they rip you off with every little thing. First time on NCL. The Norwegian Sky offers an open bar. Free drinks except for bottled water. Yes, the cost of the cruise is higher than the competition but if you love to drink, its cost is cheaper than getting a drink package on other cruises. Two pools and two hot tubs ( one each adult only). The buffet area is small and only on one side of the ship. Dining room food is great. I enjoyed my dinners. I didn't get a chance to eat at any of the specialty restaurants. Plenty of bars which open at 5 but the one near the pool opens in the morning. Entertainment was good. Loved the art auctions, I am now a collector. If you go, ask for bid # 113 and mention my name. I made quite the impression and purchased tons of art. Rooms are a good size but only one outlet. Bring an electric strip. There is an awesome coffee shop on 7 Aft. You can get Cuban coffees there! My only negative thing was the buffet lunch on the private island. Skip it. Its not worth the effort. Eat back on board the ship. Leave the island before 3:30. The later tenders to the ship are packed and there is a rush to get on it. Embarkation and Debarkation was quick. I got there around 1:30 pm. Quick checking process, the lines were not that long. Left the ship at 9:30 ish am. We walked right thru immigration, no lines. read more

Determined to do something different for the holidays other than host or visit it was an easy decision to take a cruise for some much needed relaxation. You can book cruises with Norwegian Sky via hotel partners or directly. Everything was affordable and going with the all inclusive option took away the hassle of paying for meals throughout the day and to have unlimited libations in assortment is better than that re-gifted sweater your co-worker got you on any day that ends in y. Departing from the Port of Miami, the sun was a welcomed addition to abandon coats and hats and show off some skin. Depending on the length of time you are able to travel can determine the many ports of call that are available. I really enjoyed Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay. Be forewarned, cruising can be addicting. The offer to book your next cruise while on a cruise is available. Many shops and recreation events are scheduled to entertain you. The game shows, parties and people watching will fill the void when you are not catching a nap or filling up on the delicious food being served from domestic to international fare. I am a big fan that you cant enter the dining areas without washing your hands or receiving hand sanitizer before eating. This cuts down on illnesses but not gluttony for those who's eyes are bigger than their stomachs. Easy check in process, clean rooms with hospitable stewards who were at my beck and call if I needed anything. My teen son was able to go and do his thing without suffering from boredom or always asking to go eat. Tipping is highly encouraged as the bartenders and stewards did an amazing job. Many nightly shows to enjoy and themed parties to get you involved. I found that "Freestyle" dining worked best for us and gave us plenty of options from buffet to upscale dining. We got lucky and had a fun crowd on this ship which as many cruise I have been on you get some boring or stuck up people for 5-7 days at sea! Unlimited drinks from the aplenty bars and mostly all of the staff were very friendly because I've been on some ships where the crew try to avoid you or offer another passenger something and would walk right by you like your invisible.The food is your typical breakfast buffet which has something for just about everyone. Lunch and dinner are great but the main things are unlimited drinks and all the actives on board. This is a party ship with all the drinks flowing around people book this ship that reason. I have been on several cruises, however NCL Sky was beautiful. I was told that NCL was more for an older crowd. That is not true. There were all age groups and no one was out numbered. The activities kept you entertained. The staff was so polite and the food was delicious. There was something for everyone. NCL has a private island in the Bahamas that was so beautiful. Cuba was the icing on the cake. The people, the culture and the beaches made it all with while. I'm booking my next trip to Hawaii with NCL. read more

This was my first xmas holiday cruise. I have cruised with the three major cruise lines: Carnival, RCCL, and NCL, but really wanted to experience a holiday cruise. Let me start by saying that a holiday cruise is nearly double the price of a standard sailing, due to the high demand. Being a solo cruiser, and the overall price of the cruise due to the peak season was a bit high, but well worth the expense to spend xmas in the Bahamas. The ship was tastefully decorated, with holiday spirit. Embarkation - The embarkation process was a breeze. I parked at a offsite lot (see review), and arrived very early for check in. The check in process was a breeze! I was on the ship by 11:15am, which is about 90 minutes earlier than normal. The cabins weren't ready until 2:15, and I really liked how they offered a luggage holding area which gave me time to explore the ship, without carrying around my bag. Cabin - I stayed in a inside cabin on deck 8. The cabin was excellent, and bigger than I expected. I highly recommend deck 8 if you are planning on staying in a inside cabin. There was virtually no noise, which was surprising especially for a smaller ship. Service - The service was top notch. My cabin steward was very attentive and friendly. He was quick to recognize me, and remember my name in the halls when I walked past, which to me is beyond expectation. The bar staff were all very attentive, especially for being a all inclusive ship, which means that all drinks, including alcohol are included. I didn't encounter long waits for a drink, even though the ship was sold out. I have to point out my favorite bartender Colin, in the Atrium bar. Colin makes the best mojito's! As always, a little extra tip to the bartenders wont hurt, as they always provide great service. Food - The food was great quality, especially in the main dining room. The views in the Crossings dining room were excellent, and the staff was very accommodating to seat me at a table near a window. I didn't have one bad meal. Breakfast was excellent in the main dining room the last day of the cruise. TIP: check out II Adagio, on deck 11, which offers breakfast, and lunch included at no extra charge. It was a great spot to avoid the chaotic buffet on embarkation, and breakfast on several mornings. II Adagio is a fee restaurant for dinner. Entertainment - Entertainment was pretty good. The cruise director Tyler was the best cruise director out of all the cruises that I have taken to date. There were plenty of activities by the pool, and at night. The nightly shows were all good. My favorite was the holiday show on xmas night. The comedian was funny, but really tried to keep his show at a PG-13 level, even for the late adult show. Ports - Since this was a 4 night cruise, the ship stopped at Great Stirrup Cay, Nassau, and Grand Bahama island (Freeport). My favorite was Great Stirrup Cay, but that is just my preference as I have been to Nassau a handful of times. You will need to take a tender to Great Stirrup Cay, which is painless and hassle free. The ocean was a bit rough, so be prepared! Nassau is ok. I recommend a private taxi tour, if this is your first time to Nassau. Fat Tuesdays is also a good choice, as you are able to swim near the bar! Junkanoo beach club in Freeport is a great value, and a quick taxi ride from the port. Disembarkation - Disembarkation process was a breeze, but is always sad! Who wants to leave paradise? I opted to carry off my luggage, and was able to take my time. The staff were well organized and getting through customs wasn't a hassle. Closing: Kudos if you made it through my lengthy review! Overall I wouldn't be quick to judge NCL Sky by the negative reviews alone. A cruise vacation is what you make out of it. Choose this one based on its free open bar during college spring break. It was exactly the party we wanted! Awesome staff!!!!! Mojito bar and nightclub on board. My favorite was poolside "Mr. sexy legs" and "Miss Norwegian Sky" competition. Dinner was great but plan for an hour and a half. As college students, this trip was exactly what we wanted. I did a four day cruise on Norwegian Sky for my good friends' wedding. They got married on the ship before we left and the Norwegian staff who got everything set up for the wedding did a great job. It was a beautiful ceremony and we had a brief reception after while everyone else was boarding the ship. The cruise I did departs on Friday evening from Miami. It normally does Nassau on Saturday and Great Stirrup Kay on Sunday, but they ended up swapping those due to a storm in the area that weekend. It was also an all you can drink cruise meaning everyone on board had the all you can drink package (not a separate option like it usually is). That was nice as it made getting a drink simple as all you had to do was go up and order one-- no need to give them your card or anything like that. Great Stirrup Kay, which is Norwegian's private island, was pretty cool. They offer all sorts of excursions. Some of my friends did a jetski tour around the island that they really enjoyed. A group of us rented a canopy for the day and while it was expensive ($300 for a small canopy for six people and then $29 each for two additional people), it was a great time. The service was good and we were able to use our drink package so no additional charges for drinks. This was my first Norwegian cruise and while it was mostly a good experience there were a couple of issues. This was the first cruise I've been on where room service wasn't free-- it was an $8 charge per order. Also, on more than one occasion we had unusually slow service in the dining room. Between the time we ordered and received our food we could have walked all the way to the buffet, had a full meal, and walk back to the dining room in the time it took. I didn't do a lot of the on board entertainment, but what I did I very much enjoyed. The newly married couple did a newlywed game one night which was a lot of fun. Also, the comedian who performed the last night was hilarious. I definitely enjoyed my cruse on the Sky despite a few issues. And while Norwegian probably wouldn't be my first choice of cruise line, I wouldn't hesitate to do another one at some point in the future. read more

Had a good time on the NCL Sky two weeks ago. We took a four-night Bahamas cruise from Miami and while it wasn't perfect it was perfectly fine. Stopped in Freetown, Nassua, and the final stop to Great Stirrup Cay was cancelled because of the weather and turned into a sea day. Entertainment was okay, the comedian was alright and the musicians were good but the mid-week musical was hysterically bad. Worth going to for a laugh but not if you're looking for legit entertainment. Check out the shows on the Megaships if that's what you're looking for. Food was typical for NCL, which means better than average for a cruise ship although there was a noticeable absence of pizza in the cafeteria. Pizza WAS being served in a pay Italian restaurant though so if you wanted it you needed to shell out extra unless you caught them during their brief lunch hours where they offered pizza to the masses. Bars were good and offered quick service. The only real downside to the trip was there was a group of teen girls on board -at least 100+ of them- on a tour without adult supervision. Cruise staff had no interest in enforcing the "adult only" areas so they were often dominating the hot tubs and pools in the places they weren't supposed to be. Really strange to find them everywhere considering it was an open bar booze cruise- probably would have found a different ship if there had been any warning they were going to be on board. read more

So many things to love and so many complaints at the same time. This was our first cruise and Norwegian had an awesome deal. For $99 each- we had open bar all week. The drinks were on point and most of the bartenders were wonderful. The food on the ship was pretty good too. I like the "open" dining options. We came and went as we pleased and had several dinner options with no reservation required. Many places had 3 or 4 courses. The French place was by far the best. The staff was friendly and professional. We visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Key West. All great and we had a blast. Now for the complaints: The pool area was too small and way overcrowded. The WiFi that was part of our package did not work at all the entire trip The Customer service seemed to "pass the buck" whenever there was an issue The smoking allowed in the casino and several other areas was disgusting You had to pay for everything "fun" on the ship- like bowling, arcade games, etc. Overall, we had an amazing vacation and got to visit beautiful islands. I think if we go on another cruise- it will be on the largest ship possible with an adult only pool area. read more

Been on the Sky in November 2016 and November 2017. Both times they cancelled Great Stirrup Cay. The food is bland and the selection is limited. The open bar serves watered down liquor (no way all those people are professional alcoholics to consume that much without being knock down drunk). My stateroom bathroom smelled of urine when we checked in and eventually the shower drain backed up and had toilet paper coming up through the drain. Did I mention the fights on the pool deck? That's a nice touch Norwegian. Almost 2 hours to be served in the main dining room after ordering. Dazzles nightclub should be renamed to Diablo's since its hot as hell in there due to no air conditioning or ventilation. Music and entertainment was corny. This cruise line is definitely not about having fun while on board. Just plain boring. What kind of cruise doesn't even have shrimp cocktail in their buffet or main dining hall menu? Gave NCL a second chance after a bad experience in 2016 and they doubled down on providing another crappy cruise during the November 10, 2017 sailing. I will never sail with them again. I recommend you do the same. Carnival has larger rooms, for a cheaper price even if you buy the drink package, and Carnival serves full strength drinks. read more

This was my 1st cruise ever. The boat was pretty cool..a little antiquated. The staff-AMAZING. Everyone was genuinely very nice and sweet. The crowd on the boat (patrons) was an older crowd so I didn't hang out much on the boat or go to any shows. The food was very good..there was a basketball court.. 2 small pools..a jacuzzi.. racket ball..maybe 2 bars. Took the 4 day cruise to Bahamas and Sirrup Cay, what a cruise Open bar! Got to be kidding me...the food was great the service was exceptional and the entertainment just right, we partied,danced and ate like Kings. The only complaint was the disembarkation process to go to the the price ate island, a bit disorganized. Already booked next summer trip on bigger ship. If you go to Bahamas hook up a tour with "Cousin Marvin" he will be by the dock, you won't regret it, he'll show you the true island and you will actually learn something, instead of just shopping on the port. read more
