Easily as worthy as its many heritage counterpart structures in this bountiful city of wondrous architecture, it still seems like a hidden gem that gets overlooked amidst multiple world heritage sites. It is not just a beautiful building, it is one of the most photo-worthy UNESCO sites in town. Gorgeously preserved seats, wood, sculptures, stained glass, historic cafe, and don't miss those yummy balcony columns outside! There is much to love here, but if you are short on time and can only snap photos and move along, you can see it all in 20 minutes. Squeeze it in. I was a little disappointed that during the night performance, the patio area with the famous mosaic columns was completely closed off. It's one of the highlights of the building, and I was really hoping to see it lit up at night. Apparently, it's only open during day tours, which is kind of a bummer if you're only going for a show. Also, heads up -- the main photo you see everywhere is taken from the upstairs balcony seats, so if that's the view you want, book accordingly.

Since my hotel was down the block from the house, I thought it would be a great idea to check it out during my time here. That being said, I booked tickets and made plans to visit. La Pedrera - Casa Milà is one of several structures in the city that were designed by Antoni Gaudí. This is arguably one of his more famous ones - it's a large structure that wraps around the block with a striking facade. Like the other houses, tours are provided which prompted me to see what types where were. We decided to go with a night tour which presents the house in a different light (literally) and is paired with a show on the roof at its conclusion. The tour was guided, and took us from the main atrium on the ground floor up to one of the apartments in the building. Throughout, we learned about the history of the space as well as some of the unique architectural aspects of the space. At the conclusion of the tour, we were led to the roof to see a light show that was projected on the different structures up there; there were also great night views of the city. Overall the tour was pretty good. I thought the light show was the weakest part to be honest, and went on for too long. Outside of that, I thought this was a great look into Gaudí's work. I would return to check out their daytime experience.

I think anyone who sculpts is very talented. 2) Education - You will see exhibits and displays about the origins of cacao (teaching about the Maya and the Aztecs) and learn how the Spanish explorers brought chocolate to Europe. 3) Manufacturing - They have some historical machinery and displays showing how cacao beans are turned into the chocolate that we love. 4) Café and shop - We enjoyed getting a coffee, and a hot chocolate after. They also sell pastries. I will tell you that that chocolate bars and individual truffles they sell at the shop are very good quality, We took some home to family and everyone was pleased. It won't take you long to tour the museum but if you're a chocolate lover I think it's time well-spent. It cost 8 euros when I visited which I thought was reasonable considering I got to eat my ticket.

The exterior is so beautiful and resembles a sea creature. He was known to get his inspiration from nature and it shows throughout Casa Batllo. The tour took about an hour. We went early in the day to avoid a long wait time. There are some gift shops in different sections throughout the tour and they also had an option to take a photo on the balcony which was available for purchase. Overall it was a nice experience!
