While Perry's does not measure up to the ABC, it is much nicer and has a much better selection that most other liquor stores in Athens. Given the severe lack of liquor stores in the downtown/north Athens area, Perry's is a godsend. The interior is clean and nice and the staff is friendly and accommodating-- If they don't stock a particular item, they'll be happy to order it for you, especially if they recognize you as a regular. So all you Downtown/Bridgewater/Retreat/Campus Lodge Residents, give Perry's a try if you don't already know the glory!

Several times I've gone through their drive-through and told them they need to be wearing masks (it's required here in Clarke County) to protect themselves and their customers from Covid-19. The first time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they just hadn't heard about the mandate or had ordered masks that had not come in yet. But the second time, weeks later, the guy on the window SMIRKED at me when I asked him why he wasn't wearing a mask. I'll be giving my business to a walk-in store now that is taking strong precautions, wearing masks, plexiglass shields at the register, only ten persons in the store at one time.
