Very light and fairly small clams. You get a decent amount of them to eat. The mushroom with beans was probably the best dish I had that night. I ate it with some of the white rice and it was delicious! It reminded me a little bit of a stew and was very filling. I could have come back and ordered just this with some rice and been good. It was so good that I was kind of sad to have to share it. I used the garlic clam sauce to pour over the sweet potato and it added this yummy savory note to it. I wasn't sure what to expect since none of the meat dishes like the chicken were gluten free. I usually need some kind of protein to feel full but the food we got was really good and fulfilling. Everything we had was gluten free except the chicken sausage and the bread. Service was pretty good if not a litttle slow. Second, it's my first meal in Porto, I was shocked that their white rice was only half cooked, and they told me that's how Portuguese eats. Really? I mean, half of the rice was hard, and I'm a big foodie, I definitely know it wasn't cooked through at all, maybe just 50%. Maybe they just have a bad night, and I hate to be a difficult customer.

The desserts were amazing and the table was filled with amazing stuff. Pancakes, waffles, muffins, cake, pie, fruit, jello and lots of different pasteries. You get one drink (orange juice, coke, wine or beer) and the water is for free. The service was excellent. Our waiter made sure we had everything we needed. Plates are removed in time and water is filled up once it is halfway. Another big plus is the personal approach and it is easy to get a waiter over to order a drink or to pay the bill. Strange, as I ordered water and never got it. My partner got one third of a glass of tap water, even though we asked twice for mineral water and got no hot drink. A drink limit is not listed anywhere, nor are the prices posted. We had to agree to pay extra on to get another COLD cup of coffee that sat in a decanter for hours. Would rate as 2.5 stars, though I cannot leave an in-between rating. Perhaps offerings are better for dinner. Service seemed more focused on figuring out how to charge an extra euro and limit beverages (like water or HOT coffee) than providing accurate service. The room is simple and comfortable, with an open kitchen where you can see the well-fed chef, who likewise can see how the customers are enjoying their meal. A stylish painted-on sign on the wall announces it only opened in 2015. The servers are very welcoming, not pushy at all but very attentive and very interested to see that the patrons are happy with the food. They also speak excellent English. We began with a simple vegetable soup and a generous bread service. After that came the shrimp starter--two perfectly grilled shrimp so huge that I think they could probably take down a lobster in a fair fight, and excellently flavored. Then clams--the most wonderful, simply prepared clams I've ever tasted, in a thin but savory tomato broth. I had to be careful I didn't vacuum them all up before my dinner companion got her share, and when the clam meat was finished we continued using the mini-toasts and then the clamshells themselves to slurp up as much of the broth as we could. And then came the main event, a long, thick cut of lightly cooked, amazingly fresh bacalhau that fell apart with gentle prodding from our forks and melted in our mouths. Of course we measured our pace with several super-affordable, crisp and refreshing finos (thank you Portugal!), and since while we were there Portugal vanquished Croatia on a late goal in the Euro tournament, 1-0, the house treated us to a free shot of port (thank you Portugal again!). I looked up LSD and we headed for it. Our immediate inclination was to sit outside and my friend approached a member of staff. He brusquely told my buddy that we would have to talk to the manager. Everyone was moving quickly and the outside was pretty full. The manager came over and said it would be at least a 45minute wait. After the curtness of the initial contact and the wait time, we paused. I asked about seating inside and the manager said he was short staffed asked if we were in a hurry. I said we didn't mind waiting if we could have drinks. He said for sure and sat us in the cool of the inside. We ordered a pitcher of sangria; he recommended the special which was light and refreshing. Delicious! The pictures show everything we ordered and there was not a single disappointment in the bunch. One note, the white fish and rose shrimp crude is a cold dish; very light, refreshing and full of flavor. As we were about to order dessert, we saw them serve the smoked salmon to another table and since more than one of us had been eyeing it, we ordered one. So glad we did. All the desserts were perfect. We also had a nice white wine and a pair of old fashioneds to round out the meal. We asked if we could be seated on the terrace, but we were told that those tables were reserved. I politely asked if they could place a table in an open area that was clearly part of the restaurant, but they refused. Instead, they offered us the table farthest away, which had a broken umbrella. They also told us that once another couple, seated several tables away, finished their meal, we could transfer there. However, that couple had arrived at the same time we did and had only just started ordering, so the explanation didn't make sense. When it came time to order, we chose just a few dishes because we wanted to share them. After that, the service became even less attentive, and it felt as though we were being ignored because we hadn't ordered much. Our food took a very long time to arrive, while several European customers who arrived after us were served first. The wait was frustrating. What upset us the most was seeing another group arrive later and request a table in the exact area we had asked for. This time, the staff immediately moved a table from inside to accommodate them--something they had refused to do for us. It made us feel that we were treated differently. When I tried to raise my concerns with the staff, I was told not to complain. That response was unacceptable. We were paying customers and deserved to be treated with the same respect as everyone else. Based on our experience, we felt unwelcome and discriminated against. Whether intentional or not, that is how the service came across. Sadly, we will not be returning. This was a very disappointing experience.
