I am not really go in to detail about what they do, because you can see all of that information on their website, but I will give brief info. The Bronx Defenders is a non-profit organization that provide a service in defending people's cases...basically like lawyers/ attorneys. They help represent people who cannot afford the services of lawyers. I can tell you that the individuals that work here do 100% care about what they do. I remember doing my intern in the summer of 2008, where I several other interns, and a few of the Bronx Defenders went to several communities and interviewed tenants in those neighborhoods. At the end we presented our findings to the people at the Bronx Defenders. It was a great experience overall, because we all met different people, as well as learned about their stories. I have to admit, some of the people that we met in the communities were a bit crazy, but interesting to no limit. Some people invited us into their house, which was a bit scary to do, because I did not know them, and they did not know us. I don't know if they were skeptical of us or not, but to invite us in their house...I would never do that - no way possible..lol. Great experiences.

The attorney said he was able to work on it even without the NJ bar. I was like okay since my case was very straight forward. After a month since we started the case, I haven't heard any progress and my ex was rushing me everyday. I decided to send Leon an email. After a few weeks past, I didn't hear back from him and then I called the office. The receptionist, who picked up my call, sounded clueless. She asked me to spell my name at least 5 times and I felt that she was very annoyed with my long last name. I asked her to let Leon know to reply my call or email. However, I never got the response. A week later, I decided to switch the attorney and then finally I heard back from Leon. And he added some statements in the drafted settlement document from the opponent attorney, which didn't apply anymore. It costed me almost $1000. I am very disappointed that a almost 5 star attorney on Yelp provided a 1 star service to me. The divorce process was already depressing and this didn't help at all. They did not care to show proof of service until I disputed the charges. Normally a Process Server give you 3 attempts. I thought they would just send the subpoena by mail without charging me. They are not nice and don't care about you. Don't waste your money!

I was told if I paid $375 this would include a 60 minutes consultation and a review of a pre-draft prenuptial agreement and a 20 minute review for later if needed. After 20 minutes, David Bliven informed me the session had come to an end. Then, he said the $275 was for the review of the document and the $100 was for the consult. I thought I paid for 60 minutes initially. I was very disappointed. I spoke with the secretary Nia at least three times for confirmation. I was definitely misinformed. The company took my money but did not provide the service requested. Highly disappointed especially after I called several times to confirm services being issued before I gave my credit card.
