I would like to explain the experience of being here at Acacia Academy. In Acacia Academy, I've…read moreexperienced difficulty with learning while dealing with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD mostly. While being here, I've struggled even more. The classes with these two specific teachers have made it even more difficult for me to learn and to work. The teachers will follow me to the bathroom due to the fact I've cried in the bathroom multiple times and it has been a '"concern" to the staff members. I would also like to mention that I've gotten panic attacks in the bathroom too-because of my PTSD, and also feeling like I am not good enough for anyone in this school (staff members, teachers, and students.) It has really made me uncomfortable from the fact that the administrator has instructed the teachers to follow me to the bathroom to monitor for me crying, panicking, or talking badly about myself even when I had stopped now. I would also like to mention that the administrator assumes that every problem with a student is either stress, or anxiety. There was a time when I was on the bathroom floor from having a panic attack and I felt weak, I've told the social worker that I had a PTSD flashback, yet they had put me in a room with an administrator to just eat my lunch and apparently "give me time" is what the social worker said and put me back in class. I understand that social workers have to talk to other kids in school, but what makes these "social workers" think that putting me back in class was a fine thing to do? Every time that I've talked to these "social workers," and discuss about how this school has made my mental state worse, yet they encourage me to keep going to this school. I've never felt more disgusted, hatred, and anger in my life from how a "social worker" would convince me that it is required to keep going here while my mental state is getting worse day by day while coming to this school. Keep in mind, I am really struggling with suicidal thoughts right now at the moment and I have to do an online hospitalization program. The teachers continue to stack up on work, while knowing that I will not be able to do some of these assignments at home because I have to do an online hospitalization program. I've never felt more pressured in my life than ever when wanting to have good grades, to get my work done, while I feel that the teachers and staff have absolutely NO awareness about the fact that I won't be able to have enough time to turn in all these assignments on time because of my online hospitalization program. Dealing with my mental health and education is absolutely exhausting, but yet-the teachers continue to give me stacks of work while I'm having to do the online hospitalization program at the same time. I've tried talking to the social workers here, but I've noticed that social workers tend to go straight to the negatives when it comes to certain talks, but never find the positivity in things that could happen if I made changes for coming to this school. Another thing is that a social worker was hoping for me to go to a partial hospitalization program *in-person*, but I told her that I was doing it *online* and she gave me a disappointed look and said, "I was hoping you would go in-person." I felt that it was completely unnecessary that she had to give a comment like that for the choices my parents make to try to help me. The social workers will always tell you, "I'm glad you came today!" Sure! You're glad that I came today to this school, but do I feel that I'm glad I came today? Absolutely not, in reality, I feel like I am forced to be in this school and suffer more each day as I continue to come here. Sometimes I don't even have a choice from whether I should come to school or not, my parents mostly make the decision to whether I can stay home or not. Attendance really matters here, because if you don't come to class for a certain amount of days, you will be held back. I feel even more pressured that I am *required* to come to this school every week without being able to give myself time to stabilize myself, yet I will have to continuously live a dreadful loop for coming here to this school and suffer even more. This school needs to have more awareness on how students feel and need to know what they're struggling with. This school may seem that it's "accommodating" and "helpful," but I feel that the school has barely accommodated anything for me as a student who wants to be successful. Oh! And also, this school told me to take my other rating down because they're afraid of people seeing the truth for what it's like to come here.

His diagnosis is manageable in public school. It happens everyday. I knew the teachers didn't understand him, and didn't care to. I knew they were mean to him but I fought to keep him in regular school because I wanted him to be with friends in the neighborhood and I didn't want the stigma attached to being sent out of district. His school district turned the screws and fought harder to get him out by destroying his self esteem. Ultimately I agreed to placement out of district to save my son's sanity. Enter Acacia. I was apprehensive at first. Everyone was so nice. I didn't think this could be real after everything we'd been through. But guess what? It IS amazing! My son loves going to school here. He feels valued as a human being and an individual. They teach him at the speed he's comfortable with. Every day that I ask him how his day was he says, "GREAT". I used to be scared to ask him how his day was. My stomach would flip when I saw an email from his school. Those days are over for us. Acacia is where it's at. Everyone knows what they're doing and I regret fighting our school district. He went from someone who was being shamed daily and punished for a neurological problem to someone who has his self esteem and happiness back. He has A's and B's and they LIKE him. I highly recommend Acacia. If you're checking reviews like I was, I know you're not in a good place right now. Hang in there moms and dads. Meet with Acacia as one of your options. You may be scared but everything will be ok - especially if this is where your child ends up.

The school is gorgeous, clean, and we so appreciate that they have a ZONO device that kills germs on hard to clean toys. In comparison to other daycares my daughters have attended, they come home sick significant less. More importantly, we love the teachers and admin at KLA: Ms. Tiffany has been my 4 year old's teacher from the very beginning. She is down to earth, fun, and really connects with the kids. When I asked my daughter who her best friend was the other day, one of the 3 people she listed included Ms. Tiffany. My 4 year old is very shy but over time has opened up a lot more at school and improved her social skills with the help of Ms. Tiffany. Ms. Lisa is my 2 year old's teacher. She has young children of her own and she treats my daughter as one of own. I can tell how much she cares for and looks after my little one. Ms. Melissa is the art teacher - she works with all the children at KLA. She is incredibly nice, creative, and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of the kids. Ms. Heather is the principal. She is very responsive to parents and has been a pleasure to work the past 7 months. Martial arts and music class is part of the curriculum. I am also impressed by the Spanish exposure the kids get. My 2 yr old surprised me one day when she started counting her toys in Spanish without being prompted. My older daughter has attended 5 different daycares, and by far we have been the most impressed with KLA. I never worry about the quality of care my girls get while I'm at work. Ms. Gaby (3 yr old class) is a great teacher - she is warm and deals well with all of the different personalities of the children. My daughter loves going to school there and since the stay at home order has gone into affect, the school has done a great job with conducting lessons via Zoom. This has really helped keep some normalcy for my child and they have gone above and beyond to prioritize the kids over all else. I highly recommend KLA to all my friends with children.

This review pertains to a period of time, pre-pandemic, when my son attended Crème de la Crème in…read moreWestmont. Be warned - my son nearly died as a result. If it weren't for the life support he received during the week he spent in a pediatric ICU, he would have died. We didn't know what we were doing in terms of picking out a daycare. There were several baby swings and chairs in the infant room at Crème de la Crème, which should have been a major "no go" sign, but we did not know. There was only one teacher assigned to the infant room. Another "no go" sign, but we did not know. We really liked that teacher, though, and let's face it - all of the other daycares had wait lists of ~6-12 months. Crème de la Crème had no waitlist - we thought we were in luck (although that is not how it panned out), so we signed him up for Crème de la Crème. The problem is that each day, in the mid-afternoon, all babies in the infant room were moved into a "catch all" room with ALL OF THE OTHER KIDS (possibly including kids in the after-school program - I am not sure about that, though - might have been only the daycare kids). So our son caught RSV, norovirus, enterovirus, and maybe a few other things ALL AT ONCE. That is too much for a 6-month old to handle and he would have died were it not for the excellent pediatric ICU in Naperville. He still wheezes and we need to have albuterol on hand at all times. The doctors predict that the resulting lung damage will last for many years. We obviously did not send him back to Crème de la Crème when he got out of the hospital. All of this occurred years ago, before the pandemic, and it could be that Crème de la Crème no longer puts the infants into the "catch all" room. Please dig into this with Crème de la Crème before sending an infant there. More to consider: We never spoke of Crème de la Crème with that child. When I was pregnant with our second, I asked our first if there was anything we did during his first years that he liked and we should be sure to do with our second child. He said, "No" - gotta love kids.... I then asked him if there was anything we did wrong that we should be sure not to do again. He said, emphatically, "Do not send him to that school where they just put you in a chair all day!" His experience at Crème de la Crème was so bad that he remembered it years later, even though he attended only from 4-6 months of age. Later I came across a picture of him (in a chair, of course) at Crème de la Crème. I showed it to him. He confirmed that it was the "bad" school, and asked why the "big kids who would run by and kick him" were not in the photo. We did know that something was wrong while the child was attending Crème de la Crème. Each day, he was dead behind the eyes when we picked him up. It took about an hour of interacting with him for him to start communicating with us again (by smiling, etc. - he typically had a ready smile at that age). We were already trying to get him into a different daycare when he fell ill. This is a much-delayed PSA. I should have written it years ago, but I really did not want to relive it. I don't want other babies to suffer, though, so here it is. My son's experience was not due to a single teacher, or even a group of teachers, who might have been replaced since then. It happened because the infants were thrown into a room with all the other kids mid-afternoon, to stay until picked up - as late as 6:30 pm. That is hours and hours of exposure to illness and abuse from the older kids, evidently with inadequate supervision. Edited to add: I appreciate the response from Crème de la Crème. I will call when I have the time to do so. My husband and I have very time-consuming jobs, hence the need for daycare. I also need to build up the mental strength to withstand another psychological re-living of the near death of our first child at 6 months of age. Writing the above review was traumatic enough. I swear that it is all true, that I have provided in the review all of the information that seems to be pertinent (other than perhaps the name of the teacher in the infant room at the time, but I do not believe that she was the direct cause of any of the negative experiences detailed in the review), and that my only nexus with Crème de la Crème was the ~2 months that my son was enrolled there.
