I was very pleased with the batch of crabs from my second visit to Nottingham. They were right off the steamer, a nice size, and delicious.

Came here with my best friend on the way back to Hampton Roads after a brief overnight trip to Cape…read moreCharles. It's a quaint little shop where you can buy fresh seafood, groceries, as well as different pastries and other dishes at the deli counter. I was originally in the mood for an Italian sandwich, but after speaking with the employee working the counter, I got a Shrimo Po' Boy because he said "The way we make em here, you won't find anywhere else." After one bite, I realized exactly what he meant; the shrimp were so fresh that I just knew they were caught straight out of the Cheseapeake Bay that same morning. I was also a fan of the thinly sliced French fries. I got a lemon square to eat after my sandwich, and it was also so good that I grabbed a slice of rainbow cake to go. The rainbow cake was good, but a tad dry, so definitely go for the lemon square if you're looking for a dessert here. All in all, the beach market is a great stop for anybody looking for a quick bite to eat or to support a local grocer in Cape Charles.

They served tasty and hearty corn and crab chowder. Growing up, I was a sucker for old-school steak fries. These are not them. They may appear to be fat steak fries at first glance, but they're better. Just a wide as steak fries but sliced ribbon-thin and very well seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and maybe a little parmesan. And if you enjoy a thick fat Italian sub, this is it. The bread was a crusty ciabatta roll. What made the difference for me on this Italian sub was that it was nicely toasted... holy smokes! The Beach Market is, indeed, a market, too. If you have a refined tastes in wine and other food delicacies do not miss out!

The moment we walked in we were greeted by a beautiful sunset, and were seated by the windows so we can continue to enjoy the scenery. Our waitress Tricia was very attentive and added to a great evening. We started with some drinks and the calamari appetizer (gluten free!) and quickly finished that off. My husband ordered the NY Strip special, I ordered the fried oyster app (gluten free again!), and my daughter ordered the blackened shrimp mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and the mac and cheese was enough for multiple leftover meals, which my daughter already heated some up once and it was just as good as it was when we were there. We will definitely be back on our next trip up to Cape Charles. I would have scored it 5 stars but the service was very slow even with it not being that busy. We didn't mind because we were enjoying the scenery and each other's company but if we had small children with us, it would have likely been an issue.
