We walked in, and it was a fish/ Seafood market with all kinds of things. They had prepackaged frozen seafood in the freezer, fresh seafood, and other non food items for sale too. We checked out the prices of the crabs and knew this was were we wanted to be. (CHECK OUT THE PICTURE OF THE PRICES) I walked to the register ready to order all excited, and asked for 2dz males $35... The lady responded and said "sorry you have to call the day before. We have crabs but they're slotted for people who already called in." I was disappointed, but completely understand. You never know what you're going to catch day over day. So we left. Fast forward 2 weeks later, we called ahead and ordered a half bushel $60. Awesome prices right!! The crabs were good overall. I did have a few that were mushy. Normally there are two things that cause crab meat to become mushy. Either the crabs were over cooked or the crabs died and the bacteria began breaking the meat down prior to steaming. However, for the most part, they were good outside of the mushy ones. Nice size too, nothing overly large, but not tiny either. They're worth the drive from Hampton Roads.

The steamed ones had no seasoning and appeared to have been dead when steamed as the shells were black and they were almost cold when we got them. We called and the assured us they were good and fresh. Weellll, I got sick from them. Took me 2 days to recoup. I had referred a couple from the campground to them but now I feel bed since our other neighbor RVer also had an issue with his steamed crabs. Make sure the shells appear white on bottom!!!!

As long as they're in business, they'll be my last. I love working with this local, family owned business. The guy (sorry, despite talking to him numerous times, his name escapes me) was extremely accommodating and helpful. The fish (whiting) was excellent every time! They have a very wide range of fresh and prepared local seafood. We got 4 crab cakes, about a pint of scallops and two pints of homemade clam chowder which came to $53. We got a quart of oysters, but they didn't make it in the bag (we were talking with the young lady and probably distracted her), but I don't think we were charged for them (we didn't get a receipt). We didn't go back for the oysters because we live 35 minutes away. Their website said the oysters were $32/quart but they were $26/quart at the store, so that was a pleasant surprise. They were local Rappahannock River oysters, so they were a good price. The crab cakes were all meat, no noticeable filler. My wife found them too spicy, but I found them just right. The scallops were pieces, but the young lady told us that before we bought them and it was their last bag. The scallops were fresh and tasty. Worth the 35 minute drive and we will definitely go back.

Once you know what you would like, head to the door and knock. Someone will open the door and take your order. So simple! TIP: CASH AND CHECK ONLY! Today I had a sweet lady take my order and package it all up. She wore a mask the entire time, as so did we. She was helpful at showing us what a deviled crab looked like, and help explain other items. I really appreciate that she took the time to do that. It makes me want to come back and purchase more when businesses do that. There was also an older gentleman inside enjoying a crab cake sandwich. He had the biggest sweetest smile ever. He was a happy a can be with that sandwich, and I was definitely jealous! The crab cakes were delicious. I'm making something with the meat on Friday. Just not sure what yet. Another little bit of information, they have a restaurant that opened a few months ago. They have good food! It is just down the street near the Food Lion.
