Long before the wedding, he helped us plan the logistics--understand the scheduling needs, identify our photography goals, and ultimately give us great advice before we had signed a contract. On the day of, he coordinated with the DJ, wedding planner, and our volunteers (read: friends) to make sure that things went smoothly, changed when needed, and kept it fun for us. Many months later, he helped make sure my family got the prints they wanted, even fixing an error that wasn't his problem. A+ for wedding-specific needs. 2) What you probably want to know: He gave us tons of great photos that met all the goals in a variety of settings: the group shots for the family members; both silly and serious couples shots; the venue shots that still coming in handy for stationary needs (anniversary cards, etc.). Also important, he helped coach people for posing and positioning in a warm and knowledgeable way--people felt much more comfortable. A+ for photos. 3) Cost real talk: We worked hard to make our wedding affordable and debated long about how to choose a photographer--one of the largest expenses. JP is highly technical photographer that produced work that felt like shots from photographers far outside our price range. We recommend him to friends and coworkers for their events. Just hire JP.

On the day of the wedding, when nothing could go wrong, JP was the reason that nothing did go wrong. When things changed, like when a location we were planning on shooting some photos became unexpectedly unavailable, he was calm and collected and immediately had a back up plan. He made sure we had all the photos we wanted (and some we didn't even know we wanted), and he even helped keep us on schedule for the wedding itself. At the same time, I never felt rushed or pressured by him---he always let us set the pace. He felt like a real partner through the whole process. After the wedding, we ordered a photo album from JP to commemorate the day. He was the one who did designed the whole thing and put it together, and it is beautiful and perfect and we cherish it. Hire him. You will not regret it.

This is the person or persons that you are, in a sense, putting in charge of your memories. The photos they take and the moments they capture are most likely going to be how you remember your special day. In other words, you've really gotta trust who you pick. My wife and I met with some amazing photographers, whose work we thought was stupendous, but in the end we realized that we didn't want the perfect picture, we wanted more. We wanted a photographer that was going to capture us, in the moment, as beautifully real to the moment as possible. We're not the type of couple that has many photos of ourselves around the house and those we do have aren't posed. We like candids, we like moments, and we absolutely loved our photographer, Megan Clouse. From the second we sat down with Megan she struck us as much more than your typical wedding photographer. She had amazing prints for us to look at and plenty of variety in style of shots, but the thing that jumped out at us was the emotion in her work. Even though we'd never met the people we were looking at, we could feel their joy, their laughter, their embarrassment ... we could feel everything. Her photos weren't what I call the "insert bride here" type, where you can imagine any bride looking pretty in the photo you're looking at, each was truly a moment, even the posed shots. So, if you're looking for more than just great wedding photos, if you're looking for great memories, give Megan a call. Meg drove out of her way to come to our wedding rehearsal and snap a few pictures of us and get to know our families the night before our wedding. She was ready to go on the morning of the wedding and despite my frazzled nerves (we were running late), she was so calming and sweet. She was out there in the mud and rain getting as many photos as she could on our rainy wedding day and even drove us to our reception. She was able to herd our rowdy group of guests, 1/3 of which didn't even speak English that well, and was quietly everywhere throughout the day. She even brought her husband along and they worked so seamlessly together. The photographer is not someone you hear much about from your guests, but I had at least 5-6 people stop me to tell me how terrific Meg was at our wedding. (And this is before seeing any photos!) She was so cheerful, gentle, and personable that our guests just genuinely LIKED having her around taking their pictures. Both of our mothers commented on how much they liked Meg and my mom said "she is just the cutest thing!" We woke up the day after our wedding with a gorgeous picture of us in our inboxes as a 1 Day Anniversary gift and just a few days after our wedding, she already has a sneak preview up on her website. The photos? Amazing. I have no doubt we will love our photos when we get them all back. Wedding photography was one of the most important things to us while we were planning our wedding and we are so glad we prioritized our projects and budgets to make Meg part of our day.
