Dr Strayer was recommended to me by my yoga teacher, who says he has healed her in one visit on 3 occasions, and I expected he would be something like a chiropractor. When pressed, in fact, he describes himself as a cross between an MD and a chiropractor... but he's something different altogether. An extremely well-informed, highly trained, highly skilled (he does acupuncture and gentle kinesthetic manipulations), eastern-and-western-medicine-embracing healer. During our detailed interview and clothes-on checkup (thank you!), he figured out that I had a more serious medical condition than the one I was concerned about, and he also figured out how both were related to a previous condition which had persisted unnoticed by me. He's not part of any insurance network (though you can get out-of-network benefits if you have PPO insurance, and can charge to flexible spending if you've got it), so visits to Dr Strayer may be pricey, but he'll help you get as much treatment as you can through insured providers, and even if you only go for an initial consult, his advice will be worth it. He's a general practitioner, and also an expert in musculouskeletal issues and medical acupuncture. When necessary, he won't hesitate to recommend surgery or drugs, so you needn't worry about mumbo jumbo here. Expect to wait a few weeks before you can get an intake appointment, as Dr Strayer is in high demand.

After each operation, I went through physical therapy -- not the PT affiliated with the practice, but one closer to my home -- and I recovered to the point where I resumed playing racquetball and walking 10 - 12 miles each week within the time frame he had projected. Three years ago, I ruptured the Achilles tendon in my right leg. Dr. Reznik repaired that, too, and after PT, I again resumed my crazy schedule with competitive racquetball and fitness walking. I'm playing in a regional USA Racquetball tournament in MA this weekend, and when I walk, I use hand weights within tight time frames so I really press my knees. I've found that each time I've seen Dr. Reznik, he's taken the time to listen to what happened, how I feel, and the impact the injury has had on my activities. He also shares all the images with me and explains what he's seeing and why he's suggesting one course of treatment over another. Frankly, I was impressed one time that he suggested I NOT have surgery to see how the torn meniscus would feel after use and try to manage it with exercise and PT. It worked for some months, but I did eventually have surgery after I injured it again. I've found that he accurately described the recovery as well as the level of functionality and even discomfort I'd feel after various procedures. They were rude, condescending and unfriendly. The last straw for me was when I had to cancel an appointment because my sons school had an emergency early dismissal and I was told I'd be charged a late fee. Such a shame but I'll take my chances elsewhere. There is no room for bad customer service especially in a rehabilitation setting where people are already sick and having a hard time. Such a shame.
