The worker rushed through the final day and applied the top coat, we believe, before the last coat of stain was dry. There were streaks all through the hardwood. A short time later, I had Steve (the owner of Summitt) in to check the poor finishing. The streaks are very obvious. He said those would disappear in about a year. We waited and this past spring, we had him in again to point out that the streaks were still there. He asked us to increase the humidity in the house, or wait for late spring or early summer, so that all the gaps would be filled in, then they would come back and fix the problem. We waited until the gaps filled in, then called to set up an appointment. Steve was to call us back. We waited about a month, then called again. We were told to expect a call the following morning. Again, no return call. Waited some more, then tried again. Our calls were never answered and it was obvious the staff had been told not to pick up any calls from our number. I finally called from a different number and sure enough, the call was immediately answered. Once again, I was told Steve would call the next day. That was a around the end of June and to date, no call. I've never been anything but polite and patient with these people. The office/store staff are very nice but the owner is a huge disappointment. It is sad that he does not stand behind his company's work. So much for the guarantee--"ignore and they will go away" appears to be the motto. So, in our opinion, Summit does not deserve your business. There are plenty of other choices. Try a different hardwood company.

So lets see - first the estimator completely screwed up the quote - missed the fact that a subfloor…read morewas required for an area of laminate to bring it up to the level of the other floor it butted up against. Then he missed the fact that the stairs already had bullnoses on them so would have to be cut when the installers went to work to do the laminate. $861 in extra costs for the subfloor. Then the installers choose to work 5.5 hour days... show up at 10:00 or so and leave at 4:00 with a half hour for lunch. They put a hole in the wall that they didn't repair, then they moved on to another job before even finishing mine. I'm current left with two unfinished rooms on my main floor. They also failed to check their ordered materials - the laminate bullnoses for the stairs were completely the wrong laminate - waited until they were ready to install before they even checked them. I would never deal with this company again - seriously unprofessional.
