She alleviated back pains and leg cramps, making pregnancy bearable! "Actually, yes", she replied, and lent me the card of Dr. F. Ramzi Asfour at Bay Internal Medicine. I went ahead and called them, not expecting to be able to see the doctor soon or even that same day, but no - they could get me in in an hour. An HOUR! Pretty much unheard of out here, it seems. My old doctor's office would usually a) not answer the phone b) not return my calls and c) if I did have the fortune to get through to them would be able to maybe squeeze me in hours from when I needed or else... tomorrow. So rough when you're feeling unwell. Enter Dr. Asfour. I walked the 15 convenient minutes to their office and was instantly pleased at the kindness and attentiveness of the women working the front desk. It seemed like they honestly took the time to look at me and put a face with a name (again, something previous doc's offices have been lacking... every time I'd go in it was like "Who are you?"). They asked how I was doing and when I said, "Not too great" they seemed genuinely concerned. Maybe a common courtesey, but one that went totally appreciated. After I'd filled out my initial paperwork & paid my co-pay, I only really waited about 10 minutes to see the doctor himself. AGAIN, let me make clear how awesome this place is: for other doctors around here I've waited upwards of an hour in the waiting room just to see the NURSE. Perfect. The nurse only briefly chatted with me, took my weight, etc. Five minutes later, Dr. Asfour walked into the room and shook my hand, asking me to sit down in his office with him for a bit first. Oook.... never had I had a doctor so intent on getting to know me before shooing me out the door. Not Dr. Asfour - he wanted to know all about me, where I was from, my family, my job, medical history, etc etc. It felt like chatting with a friend. After about 15 minutes of that, we THEN went back into the exam room where he listened to my symptoms, checked me out, and told me what to do next. The whole time, almost half an hour in all, I felt very taken care of (he's an internal medicine specialist, by the way) and assured that he was not only listening but would remember me the next time I needed his help (he did). Five stars to a medical practice that fully works the way it should - realizing to the fullest extent the meaning of the word "care." If you need a doctor, call them up. Besides Dr. Asfour, there are three other doctors (two women and one man) who I'm sure are equally as excellent.

Alexis is on top of it to an extent I've never experienced before. She's extremely knowledgeable and what she doesn't know she will find out - in a heartbeat. She makes herself available to her patients and their families, giving them a comfort and security. She is collaborative in her approach which I find very important, since aging and decline brings constant change that needs to be managed. My mother and I are very appreciative for her capability, compassion and loving care over these years.

To say that she has been a godsend isn't an overstatement. She is the most competent, compassionate and thorough health-care professional I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She cared for my father as if he were family, and constantly kept my brother and me apprised of his changing health issues. When we had questions or concerns, she always responded promptly, even when she was out of the office or home with her baby. Her dedication to her patients is admirable indeed! I know my father, brother and I will miss her now that she is no longer with Hampton Health. And I have no doubt that future patients will be equally fortunate to have Alexis advocate and care for them.

He had her walk once around the office ...50 feet at best to check her O2 sat...it was in the mid 80's...his solution was to order home oxegen...that would have taken 7 days to get...she couldn't breath!!!! We ended up by passing him and going to a specialist the next day...he admitted my mom to the hospital that day...she passed 10 days later. If you love your parents, aunts, uncles...DO NOT go to this Dr. He is charming...and that is about it... During one of my mom's last visits to him...the elevator was broken again...not only did my short of breath mother have to climb to the second floor...but there was an elderly woman trapped inside the elevator!!! He is bright, interested and competent. If there is ever a problem with his delivery of medical care, I am confident it will not be from lack of concern or lack of ability. I recommend Dr. McNamara to my family and friends without reservation. His staff is great. Energetic and caring. The office is getting old, but it's clean. What's not to love?
