This program has been a horrible but insightful experience. I will start off by talking about what…read moreis good about this program, and it is one thing: the facilitators. Everything else was disastrous, I have to agree with most if not all, of the 1 star reviews on this page. 1. All of the participants were not given accurate information on how foundations schedule groups, flexibility is not an option, and this is not communicated clearly EVEN if you have a medical appointment. This adds a multiple layer of stress, not being given any opportunities to improve your health. 2. This site has lost its licenses TWICE, which should be very concerning. The lack of transparency within this company and with its patients is baffling 3. There are no psychiatrists or doctors on site to refill or prescribe new medications. Many of the group participants went without vital meds that they received from residential. 4. There is no real structure. In the second half of the day, it seems that there is no curriculum, and you are mostly sitting through 3 hours of much of anything. 5. Lastly, Mark is cruel, and I hope foundations receive a class action lawsuit and are shut down for good. Truly, one of the worst experiences I have ever had. If you are a women of color and or queer I would also skip this place entirely, you will not be heard or valued. Listen to the other reviews, and for the love of god skip this program it is not worth your time or money!!!

Beware! Insanely unprofessional they should be shut down. No one answers during business hours…read more Then someone named Adam calls and asks you all sorts of personal private medical information over the phone. Then there's no follow up whatsoever. I waited for some paperwork, instructions, an email, text -- nada! Turns out the office phone is Adam's cell! Yes, they expect you to send my private and person medical information to their cell? And they never actually say this, so even if I'm ok with the lax privacy, they expect me to somehow know that they call me from a cell phone and I need to text my medical card back to that number? I can't even explain how unprofessional this place is. They don't know how to treat people and they are supposed to be therapeutic. Stay away!

I'm discouraged to write this because I was genuinely excited after reading so many positive…read morereviews and how thoughtfully this doctor describes his approach. Unfortunately, my experience mirrors another reviewer's: I first reached out over a week and a half ago, left multiple voicemails, and followed up asking to briefly learn more about his approach, but never received a response. I understand he likely has a full practice and other priorities. That said, it would be helpful if his voicemail or profile set clearer expectations around response times or availability, or noted if he's not taking new clients. Silence after multiple follow-ups is disappointing. I personally rely heavily on reviews when making decisions about providers, and I'm leaving this for others who do the same. He sounded great based on reviews and his profile, but based on my experience, he does not seem very communicative. Bummer. :(

You'll find no one else even close to Dr. Steve Balt, in terms of his expert skill, sincere empathy…read morefor his patients, and uniquely effective approach to mental health treatment.  If you've grown exasperated or etiolated with other providers who just won't *listen* to you; if you're looking for someone to selectively challenge your thoughts to inform your "gestalt" to you and others, as appropriate; or, if you just need someone you can trust to have your best interest at heart, I can personally attest to the fact that you should see Dr. Balt now, while you can. The rough can only obscure a gem like Dr. Balt for so long.  Dr. Balt's style precludes traditional "paper" diagnoses, which, at least to me, makes the most sense because no one can maintain with any level of confidence that their thinking and psyche can be wholly and correctly labeled in a box. Let's face it: our thinking is fluid, as our issues may be of mercurial function. Dr. Balt not only fully understands this truth but clearly relates to it in his treatment, which I would describe as medication-assisted psychotherapy.  Seeing Dr. Balt every other week since Summer 2018 has been perhaps the most rewarding experience I've accrued in that same timespan. I had seen other providers, but only Dr. Balt recognized my issues as specific to only me, as a person.  Dr. Balt's "collective" approach assures that you won't be stuck scarfing down tablets for reasons you don't fully understand or agree with, and compromise is the name of the game when loggerheads nears broaching.  Without delving into my personal issues, suffice it to say that complexities have been manifold, and I've honestly actually come to eagerly await each and every meeting with Dr. Balt!

It can be difficult to get a new primary care provider in Marin: many doctors are not taking new…read morepatients. For that reason we discovered One Medical, before the Amazon take over. Our experience at the Corte Madera office has been positive, but at the newish Mill Valley Office, experiences have been mixed. Once my daughter came in during her school break, and she booked same-day care online. Easier and better than urgent care. Another visit, I came for walk-in lab testing. The lab at the Mill Valley Office has fairly limited morning hours meanwhile my lab tests required fasting. I arrived at opening to twenty other patients who had been fasting, and was quoted over an hour wait. I was told I could come back in the afternoon (there was no way I could continue to fast till late afternoon.) I opted to get in the car and drive to their Northgate office, to test. Since the Corte Madera office is consolidating and patients will be sent to the Strawberry office, here's hoping this office will have expanded lab hours and the staffing needs of this office will be supported by Amazon, their parent company, to reduce these significant waits.

Some of the doctors are the same and awesome (Dr Garcia for example). The office experience has…read moregone down though and the staff in the front have been quite short and rude recently after the acquisition with Amazon. The front office staff at strawberry is impatient and inflexible now and almost defeats the purpose of when we signed up years ago Lab service is poor and if you need an outside doctor to provide electronic copies of lab work instead of bringing written orders in. Sometimes you cannot get this from specific UCSF hospital departments making the process really difficult now if you live in Marin and can't commute into the city without help. The new policy is documents loaded 48 hours in advance or driving in orders to be processed 48 hours in advance. I have switched to QuestMobile for blood draws. The phlebotomist will come to the house within a day or two after getting orders from your doctor or the hospital all at home and without an unhelpful front desk.
