This was a fun experience while shopping at grand bazar. Table side presentations and laid back, but beautiful atmosphere. We loved the Spoon salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and walnuts. Baklava with ice cream was out of this world!
First time going to one of Salt Bae's restaurants. Was glad to try it in Istanbul because it would not have been worth it paying US prices. Firstly, this place was kind of hard to find. Luckily people helped us find our way. Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time. Overall the food was pretty good. The steaks were so buttery and tender. We got few sides of friends, mushrooms and mashed potatoes and they all were really tasty. The whole presentation when they bring your steak to the table was fun to watch. Even though it's cheaper in Istanbul compared to US, I felt like it still wasn't worth the price. I'd recommend to check it out at least once.
So this is a tough one. First off location is super cool, in the grand bazaar. It's a big open beautiful space. Service is also good - but because it's so busy it's hard to really get a ton of attention. We made an 8:45 res for two on a weekday. We got there early at 8:30. There was a very long line and we ended up getting seated at 9. I guess people don't make ressies on open table before coming. Ok so for the food. Goat cheese salad. It was ok. I hate bean sprouts. Didn't realize it was in the salad. 3/5 Nusr-et burger. The meat was cooked well for me, but I split it with my wife and half of her half was very very undercooked. I enjoyed the flavor of the beef, but didn't care for the addition of the pastrami (or whatever it was) on it. 2/5 Lokum burger. First, I'd argue this is not a burger. It's a steak sandwich. lol. I liked this alot. Flavor was good. Meat was cooked perfectly. 4/5 Lamb chops. This is where the meal really stood out. Loved them. For a guy being known as "Salt bae" - they did need salt though. 4/5 We didn't opt for dessert because we were so full. We have a Nusr-et in LA near home. I have refused to go there because the pricing is insane. The pricing here is probably considered high for Turkey, but for the US it's a fraction of the LA cost.
I was torn about trying this restaurant. I was afraid it was all about the hype, but I have to say it was worth it. Yakup, our server was terrific. He was so attentive and helpful. First, the interior is stunning, and everything is fast-paced. The servers are moving about and intense with their performance. Serving food is an art here. Almost every dish is presented with a jaw-dropping presentation. For example, they did not have mashed potatoes, so they brought a baked potato and turned it into a heart-shaped mashed potato. My daughter loved her lamb chops. She said the meat was delicious and fresh and not full of preserves. My burger was excellent. I was expecting ground beef, but not here; it was sliced beef. Delicious. I even enjoyed the French fries, and my grilled shrimp were jumbo shrimp full of flavor. We were so full we had to skip dessert. Maybe next time. Yes, the prices are a bit high for Turkey, but our meal was less than $100, so I can't complain. Two appetizers and two meals. Well worth the visit.
This is one of the "Salt Bae" restaurants located in his Park Hyatt hotel in one of the high end districts in Istanbul. For the prices, you can do waaaay better - nevertheless, it was quite the gram-worthy experience. We were seated in the breakfast section which doesn't carry the same elegant ambience as the rest of the dining area. They offered a normal price fix ($110/pp) or a gold price fix ($200/pp) for the large party and the table split orders so everyone got a bit of everything. Pomegranate Salad After days of experiencing dressing-less salad, we finally received one that was completely doused in dressing (argh)... ingredients were fresh, mixed greens, bean sprouts, some sort of white crumbled cheese and pom seeds. Would have been high quality without all the dressing. Carpaccio Like everything else, there's a mini-presentation before every dish is served. They worked up a totally raw thin slice of steak and then sliced it up with salad and parmesan flakes with a lot of bells and whistles. Very flavorful and not at all raw-tasting. It was so good I ate two chunks, which in hindsight is a losing strategy in a near-all-you-can-eat situation. Beef Tenderloin Drenched in butter sauce right before your eyes - you look at all the splendor, but try not to think about your poor arteries. Anyway, the tenderloin is supple and delicious and not at all buttery tasting. I ate multiple slices here too. Lamb This is probably the night's biggest disappointment. While it made for a good show with all the slicing and dicing, the lack of proper (or any?) seasoning was obvious. To add insult to injury, the meat although appearing pink, was medium and dry at best. Beef short ribs Back to high quality - although soft and tender (with a nice sweet, hot brown chutney sauce), but this time there was no more vacancy in our stomachs. I wish we had this earlier on - it was pretty flavorful and well prepared. I also don't get the gold foil. It was on all the meat for the gold price fix. I mean, is it safe to eat all those little flakes? I can't help but feel that it took away from the experience a little. I thought they would remove any foil wrap, but it comes all cooked and cut with shredded foil embedded into the tiny meat crevices so there's no way to avoid eating it. Dessert - Baklava Ice Cream Sandwiches Amazingly decadent, and yes, this came with a presentation as well. But again, by this time, our appetites were completely obliterated and unfortunately, a few slices were left untouched. In an awkward gesture, the staff invited us to the pool-side outdoor patio for dessert - the problem was, this was also the smoking patio and it seems everyone in Istanbul lights one up during dinner. Then they made us wait an unreasonable amount of time for dessert and again for the final bill (it wasn't warm either). It was a not-so-subtle way to say "we need your large table for the next several parties". Overall, a notable experience, but one that I would not repeat a second time, especially given the hit on the wallet. One last thing - that signature salt throw off the forearm is just ridiculous... that's all...
In the midst of the busy grand bazaar you can find this gem. The inside decor is huge as of old classical ancient Turkish stone mixed with modern style. Restaurant of the famous #salt bae Turkish butcher you can definitely find his videos on YouTube and instagram. His famous salt throw splash is what he is known for. You can even see a life size mannequin of him at the entrance. The menu consists of shrimp, steaks, lamb and burgers. The famous golden burger is even served here. I got the golden burger with crisp fries and he ordered the lamb with mashed potatoes and it was delish. The burger was so scrumptious and at first I was a bit scared because of the golden flakes but I got over it. My partner got the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and it was cooked to Perfection. The mashed potatoes were so creamy. This place is definitely a must go to.
I was looking forward to this meal for weeks leading up to the trip to Istanbul and to be completely honest it was the worst meal I had on the entire trip. Visiting another country has its differences, but I had no idea how gamey the beef would be. Gave me my fair share of stomach issues that night. The restaurant itself is nice enough, located at the famous Grand Bazaar. Lots on the menu to try but I wouldn't get your hopes up. There are so many better places in Istanbul. Go here if you want to check it off the list, but don't get the burger under any circumstances. I can't really recommend anything here because none of us liked anything we got. Great location though!
Great food pathetic service! Save your money and go to their Beşiktaş location. 1. Didn't entertain us for 15 minutes after we yelled for service. 2. Forgot our order whole order. 3. Served drinks 20 minutes before food. 4. Everything came together after a wait time. Stay away!
What a great experience! The food was good and the meat quality was amazing! We came here for our anniversary and it was wonderful. Service was on point and the restaurant was aesthetic to the eye. I liked how it was central in the plaza. For apps we ordered the shrimp. Jumbo well seasoned shrimp! Yum! I ordered the lamb for myself... mmm it was so tender. It was also prepared the way I wanted it, medium. It was a good size portion too. My husband ordered the burger. It seemed more like a steak burger with generous portions of beef. The sides were generous. We shared a baked potato. It was huge! The spinach and mushrooms were tasty. The French fries were nice and crispy. Why is it that when we travel overseas they make French fries crispy and not greasy? We look forward to traveling to their other international locations. Throughout the restaurant, you can see all the #saltbae souvenirs.
Over priced for what you get and their service is horrible I would save the time and go enjoy much more amazing food around the city and not waste your money at this place unless your just trying to eat with people looking to show off. Exchange rate for me was $1 = 11 lira
Nusr-Et Steakhouse Sandal Bedesteni is a high-end steak restaurant in Istanbul, Turkey. I heard my friend talked about it as a must visit place. It is all about expectation. The ambient is casual. It is more like a family restaurant than a typical fine dining restaurant. The main dining room was noisy like a food court. There were two little kids chasing around at table. There was a kid riding an electric scooter between tables. The servers were attentive. The food quality was acceptable. Compared to all the surrounding Turkish food, this restaurant offers some acceptable steaks but it is not my kind of fine dining restaurant.
I love the other locations, the service is horrible and our food came opposite of what we ordered, i asked for medium and got medium rare, we asked for no butter on the potato and there was a huge one on it, we asked for no garlic on the mushrooms and it was so much garlic, when you complain , the waiter smiles and leaves, do you really speak English or what?!!! I gave 2 star because i love this chain so much , otherwise it was not a good experience, by the way the name of the waiter is Farouk!!!

Me and my wife went for dine in and I was not hungry just took a Turkish tea and she took lamb chops and salad, Service was outstanding and so professional and personal. Food was very tasty too all over presentation and the show were great . Not that pricey as American ones. Highly recommend to get an experience and casual dine in too. read more
Food: We tried Beef Steak Burger. But pieces of bun were too roosted. It should be juicy. Service: Service very good with good discipline. Good number of waiters. Ambiance: Wonderful decoration with Ottoman designs building. read more
We order the special steak . It was cooked in a hot plate with butter and the seasoned with salt. It was okay. A bit hyped up. Service was okay. Some of the wait staff was helpful while some were not. Ambiance is nice. It is inside the grand central bazaar. read more

Wow wow wow the quality of the food at this restaurant is excellent!!!!! We had a horrible experience getting here because it was a Friday night reservation around 8pm. The bazaar was closed and the taxi driver was telling us this location was closed and was trying to get us to go to the other ____ location when the listing clearly said it was open. He then scammed us by switching the bill with another while he turned on the light to of course try to get more money. Finding this location is scary on a Friday night because it's a holy day so it's completely dead. All the businesses around it are shut down but I'm not sure what's better the chaos of the open bazaar or scary closed streets. Once arriving to the restaurant we checked in with the host and got seated after 15 minutes. Highly recommend making a reservation. We ordered the streak, lamb rack, and ribs. The meat all melts in your mouth!!! 5/6 Lemonade was delicious and no alcohol on this day although it would've been nice after our experience. Wax salt bae is inside of the bazaar so we couldn't see him but the store and mural in the entrance was perfect. Would give 5/5 if it wasn't for the location. Let me start by location. ... it is near grand bazaar, kinda hard to find at night. Once you get inside you really need reservations or you will wait 2-3 hours for table. The food very tasty, what you would expect from saltbae. We had the tomahawk, very juicy cooked perfect as we requested, presentation when brought to table, we had side of fried onion and fries. Food is great, however little pricey for Istanbul, basics just paying for name. Gift shop located in restaurant, we did purchase a bib for our infant son, very cute. I probably wouldn't go back on next trip simply because one time is enough, but would recommend to first time visiting friends. read more

Wow just wow! This wasn't my first time at a Nusr-Et Steakhouse. Been to the one in Dubai and Miami. However being at the orignal Nusr-Et was a whole other experience. Located at the Grand Bazaar, the restaurant also was themed accordingly which gave out that old/classical Turkish Vibe. Arriving at 8pm on Saturday night, it was extremely busy, however we were seated immediately following our seating instructions (we wanted to sit upstairs). Next, we already knew what we wanted to order. For starters we had the "Steak Sushi" and the Feta Salad which our server recommended. For the main courses we had the Nusr-Et Special, Two Loca steaks and Lamb Chops. Sides of french fries and Mantar (Mushrooms). The service was top notch. All the food was on our table within 5-10 minutes which is crazy! Never have I had my full order on the table within this time frame. The salad was 10/10 so were the main courses. The sides were a little below average having the fries cold and the Mantar was clearly canned mushrooms which is not expected at a restaurant such a Nusr-Et. The fries were replaced immediately and new ones were on the table within the minute. Overall: 9.5/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 9/10 (the fries and mantar caused this) Our waiter was Yusuf Samet! One of the best out the UPDATED REVIEW: My second time in 4 days, once again I wasn't able to find any steaks at all. The dallas steak, new york steak or any steak wasn't available, so can you really say you're a steakhouse? read more

Oh man. We ate here while visiting Istanbul and it does not disappoint. Incredible service and attention to detail is only exceeded by the food, OMG. The house salad was the best I've ever had. Highly recommended. read more

I'm a Nusr-Et lover! And I always thought I have to take a cab, be stuck in traffic of turkey and wait forever to get a table .. but then, as I'm walking around the grand bazaar I was so excited to see Nusr-Et. Such an elegant restaurant inside the oldest shopping area "grand bazar" Beautiful entrance with a red carpet! and as Im stepping inside the restaurant it feels like I'm stepping back in time with the beautiful architecture and the high ceilings! they kept the original walls and in the same time it has a touch of the modern style... huge space, I was surprised there was no wait,,, in fact we picked our own table... I just loved the overall ambiance it's unlike other Nusr-Et restaurant! Food wise. Everything was as good as the Nusr-Et at the other location. The burger was very good! Juicy and tender sliced beef. the salad was amazing and the steak as well. My friend ordered baklava layered with ice cream and it was made "table side" i didn't try it as I got full but it looked amazing! I highly recommend Nusr-Et at this location if you are looking for something more quiet and classic read more

Cool place, authentic and historical environment! They welcome you with smiles and very nice hospitality like every place in Turkey. Presentation is very nice; Nusret style spilling salt and they feed you with their hands also with a special sound -çiki çiki çiki- :) I wish the meat was better tough! We've ordered medium, but it came very rare... We've tried both Dallas Steak and Lamb Küşneme but the taste was just ok compare to steakhouses in the states. Spinach wasn't good at all, I think they couldn't arrange the sauce' density. Baked potato was dry and they didn't bring any butter or bread. I asked for bread and they just brought couple slice of basic one :( We've ordered avocado salad but it was very hard to find avocados in it. I was expecting way more from this place bcz of it's price tags. But couldn't satisfy us that much. So I think they should serve better quality of food, provide some good small bread baguettes and delicious Turkish butter from the East Blacksea area. If they don't wanna do more then only other option: they should lower their prices a bit! read more

This was a HUGE fail. And I was so excited and hopeful. I was alone so the waiter said the only thing I could get was a fillet and salad. It came so fast I had not even had a sip of wine or started my salad. It was just a few small pieces of meat on a board. I asked for some hot butter so I could warm it up when I was done with my salad and they brought me a cold ball of butter. I don't know what they thought I was going to do with the cold ball of butter since they never even offered me bread. They finally brought hot butter. For my cold steak. I ate a couple pieces and box to the rest up. Ordered dessert which the guy put ice cream in the middle of The Baklava and made a huge mess all over the plate. My bill was $75 us. 654 lira. It was a $30 meal at best. And I am a private chef on the East Coast. This is a big skip! I have never given such a strong review but there are many beautiful steakhouses in Istanbul where you can get better quality service at a fraction of the price. Enjoy Istanbul read more

I was visiting Istanbul from the USA and had to try Salt Bae's restaurant in his home country. This isn't his original restaurant. It is one of I think 3 nusr-ets in Istanbul. This restaurant is located in Faith, Istanbul one of the oldest areas of civilization in the world. It's located in the Grand Bazaar area where there are lots of street vendors and tourists. The restaurant is situated in a historic building, built in the 17th century I believe. We came here for lunch without a reservation and was seated right away. It wasn't busy at the time. The hostess was pleasant and accommodating. The restaurant is very nice, with huge chandeliers hanging from very high historic curved ceilings. The restaurant decor and building is upscale. But, I wouldn't classify it as fine dining or near fine dining because, there is what I believe is mustard stored in a covered container on the tables with a spoon for all guests to use like you would find in a diner. They brought out plastic large bottles of Heinz mustard and ketchup with the dinner, when dishes are ready to be served the kitchen rings a bell that the whole restaurant can hear and is also visible because the grill area is adjacent to the tables. When, the dishes weee served, the food runner asked who ordered what. I ordered the filet and it was just a regular filet. The staff was pleasant. The staff did slice the steak and sprinkle salt like salt bae. I think it could be worth trying just to say you've experienced it. Also, the prices in Istanbul are way more reasonable than in the USA. My filet which weighed 200g cost about $38 US dollars. read more

Nusr-Et, the restaurant from Salt Bae, Nested in the grand bazaar. A lot of merchandising. Not the most helpful staff, directly point you to the steak and gold steak section of the menu. I like the selection of mocktails. I took a chili passion, for a little spice kick. It had a growing level spice in it but still fairly refreshing. For food, I opted for Kefke with cheese. Sounded a little bit more adventurous. Came heart-shaped with (spiced) fries. Very nice taste and not too overpowering. The cheese actually balance pretty well. The sharpness of the kefke. I also tried the blooming onion and the gold covered burger. Really nice taste. Overall good experience, little overpriced and poor service. read more
This restaurant is pretty well known and has a bit of hype around it. We were in Turkey and decided to stop in to the location at the Grand Bazaar. The decor and uniqueness of this location will definitely leave an impression as will the presentation and performances of the staff as they serve your dishes! We tried the lamb fillet, burger and baklava on our visit. The burger and the baklava were amazing, the lamb fillet was ok, it was a bit on the drier side for me. I did see a rack of lamb being served at the table next to me and it looked much juicer so maybe this is a better choice. The prices in Turkey cannot be beat, for two dishes, drinks and desert we spent 250 Turkish Lira which is about $40. For a place like this in the US you'd surely be spending $250! Don't forget to check our the Turkish delight and baklava shop in the restaurant as you leave as well as the Grand Bazaar right outside as well! read more

5 stars for food...1 star for service...average is around 3...the ribs i got were heavenly...but the service was very poor...which is in sharp contrast to the rest of istanbul resturants...also their food is not authentic ottomon cuisine...go if u are in mood for a big rack of meat...located inside grand bazaar... read more
