Premier Travel Inn - Salfords

Premier Travel Inn

I've stayed in many Premier Inns so know what to expect…read more This one is pretty easy to get to, even if you don't drive. On my way down, due to travel delays/difficulties, I got a lift from London down to Surrey, and from SW London, took about 50 minutes in moderate traffic. Whilst staying in the area, I used the local railway station, which is Salfords Surrey (not to be confused with Salford in Greater Manchester). It's only 5-10 minutes walk. There are direct trains every half an hour to London Bridge, or you can change at Redhill for Victoria. Going the other way, there are half hourly rains to Horsham, which I guess must stop at Gatwick Airport. So it's a good location all in all. The hotel itself isn't the most modern Premier Inn I've stayed in, but in many ways is standard for the brand. The bed is really comfy, the bathroom is clean, the room is spacious with TV and tea/coffee facilities. One slight negative is that there were no power points next to the bed for charging the phone; this was clearly built before everyone had smartphones that need charging every day! That is a minor point though. As standard in Premier Inn, there is wifi - a free option and a faster, premium option which you can pay £5 for 24 hours access. The only real negative is the temperature of the room - it was really warm. I think this is to do with the building and again, maybe a sign that it isn't a more newly built hotel. On the whole, I'd rather be warm so over night and when chilling in the room, I was fine. The only time it affected me was when doing my hair (using the hair dryer provided!). As it was so hot , my hair kept going really frizzy and no amount of serum seemed to fix it. Other than that, I have no complaints and would stay here again.

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay, with breakfast, as our friend was having his 60th birthday…read morehere. When booked we received a 'special' deal as the party was being held here. Plenty of free parking on arrival. Reception couldn't have been swifter nor more friendly, yet professional. The charming young lady was the first, but not last, plus for the hotel. A nice smile to start our stay. She explained everything that was needed especially to keep the key card away from credit cards and phones as, she said, they get easily wiped clean. The room was nice and large with tea/coffee facilities (with biccies), wall mounted TV and USB sockets, ironing board and iron. Bed was so comfortable and pillows soft. Bathroom had all needed items such as toiletries, shower cap and, even, a sewing kit. The shower was a BLAST in that it was powerful. Soft towels and they were almost new. All positives. The evening went perfectly. Great bar service and those guys worked hard as never did there seem to be a waiting queue. During this party there was a buffet meal and, once again, the staff were brilliant. They cleared tables without being noticed. That is professional training. Perfect. After a much needed sleep we went for breakfast. Buffet style with freshly cooked full English. Or, if preferred, Continental. Wonderfully thick bacon, delicious. Eggs cooked to order or, ready, scrambled. Once again, staff were working tirelessly but always smiling. A very nice, spacious, restaurant. A wonderful overnight stay and a big thank you to all the staff for their hard work. We often fly from Gatwick and you may find us booking here again as it is only about 8 miles away. One minor niggle, and very minor. Coffee at breakfast could be a little stronger. This may be us as we do enjoy a strong beverage.

In general not a bad hotel if all your after is a room…read more Service without the smile in the restaurant!
