Whether you are looking for a chicken and corn, or a more traditional lamb or beef sausages, this place should be your first port of call. Though don't stop with a simple sausage... you must try the Moroccan. The sultanas make it simply awesome. Often I will go in here and order 2-3 of each variety just so I can try them all out. Just be careful when cooking them as often the different varieties have a variety of thicknesses...

I guess ACA isn't all about dodgy tradies and dead beat dads after all. When I told the butcher I was looking to try a few of the sausages, suggestions started coming in from customers as well. I walked out with 5 different types (sang choy bao, Texan, spicy Italian, pork and truffle, and smoky maple). I'm still looking for Australia's best bacon, so I grabbed some of that as well. Overall, really good sausages. Pork truffle and Italian were my favourites. The sang choy bao tasted exactly like a sang choy bao. I'll leave it to you to decide whether that should be a flavour enjoyed in sausage form. A word of warning though: the ACA nutritionist mentioned that sausages aren't an every day food and having more than 2 a day increases your chance of bad things by a milionty percentage points. Or something like that. I was too busy drooling over TCB's sausages to really pay attention at that point.

Having revisited this market I find myself looking forward to visiting it (usually about once a…read moremonth if possible) as the range on offer has increased incredibly so but fortunately it retains it's "village-type" feel to it. My recent love is that of the Common Ground Bakery's carob fudge. So enamoured was I that not only did I attempt to be polite and share it with others, we (collectively as a group) dashed back and bought more cause one bite is simply not enough! The gluten-free fare is so sophisticate that for the un-educated you really wouldn't know. Chez Immi (and she is an absolute doll!) has insane quiches, Silvia (Gluten Free Cuisine) not only has an incredible array of breads and cakes but has the much desired pasta and it is absolutely mouth-watering. They say that everything old is new again and that is absolutely the case with the Lavender & Neem stall. Old fashioned moth deterrent by way of lavender bags: cheap as chips and smell heavenly and I tried one of their lavender boiled sweets: now THAT is something that needs to be tasted. A lovely sense of camaraderie is felt at every turn with stallies greeting you like old friends and happy to trade recipes or suggestions for the menu. Get there if you can!

Phew. Come Christmas, Seafood @ Hornsby is an absolute zoo. They extend their hours to suit, but you're still better off ordering ahead of time and simply collecting your bounty on Christmas Eve. I'm already mentally making my order for another scrumptious seafood Australian Christmas. But in the meantime, I'll be sure to pop in here on occasion, just to keep my omega 3 levels up (read: buy and eat way too much seafood).

As I entered I was asked if I needed assistance, I briefly explained I was just looking but would ask if I had any questions. Two steps later, I was asked again, then again, then again ... And finally an aggressive and snotty attendent decided to lecture me that they didn't like "Pricer's from Woolies trolling their store for pricing info". I explained AGAIN I was just looking and assured her I was not from Woolies. She carried on yapping at me for a while until I finally just left in disgust. The rude attitude, unwillingness to listen, and sheer gross paranoia were just not worth putting up with for a simple puchase of fish. I would suggest focusing on providing a service to the customers and prospects who enter your store rather than alienating them would be a better approach to growing your business. Chasing ghosts and abusing prospects is a losing strategy. I for one will not return ... And anyone I speak to will be advised to go to Windybank or DeCosti where they focus on friendly service and quality product.
