The Tour of Naples is a full immersion experience!…read more It starts off with a toast and the restaurant folks are excellent hosts. We learned how to make the Negroni cocktail and they took time to teach the flaming orange. Including a lot of interesting history and information about the spirits. The instruction on making the pizza and cocktail was so thorough that we felt like we really did something, while we learned in action. Worth the time and money. *they did ask if anyone is dry, but not sure what they offer in lieu of the cocktails or wine.

We went on a food tour of downtown Roanoke. Our guide was Ned. I thought the whole tour was run…read morevery well (I've been on about 5 other food tours) and saw that Ned was in contact with the next restaurant each time so that they were ready for us. Ned provided us with great information about the history of the town, the railroad (although some of that was incorrect as he kept saying Raleigh instead of Norfolk as it pertained to the railroad and it kept saying that one of the railway companies "left" when in fact, they were merged. Maybe this wouldn't have mattered so much except someone in our group was very familiar with the railroad) But Ned was very personable and you could tell he loved history and as we do too we really enjoyed his tour. The food on the tour was fairly varied and unique to the town (a must!) and it was great to hear the back story of the ownership of the restaurants. (I was a little worried when at the first two restaurants we were served seafood dishes, a seafood bisque and shrimp and grits as one person in our group doesn't really like seafood and I think this is a risky choice for a tour. Also at Chocolate Paper we were given two mediocre Asher chocolates to try instead of some of their more expensive and more delicious Debrands chocolates.) One person in our group thought there wasn't enough food and thought another restaurant or two should be added. I tend to agree when compared to the cost of this tour against other tours I've taken. Had the cost been a little lower I think the amount of food would've been fine. All in all, a great tour though. Ned really was a great guide, I hope he leads more tours, I really learned a lot!

And they all were great!! This is a walking tour and luckily the weather on June 7th was perfecto!!! Our tour guide Leah (Aleah maybe) was very informative and excited to show us around. The group consisted mostly of couples that seemed to be familiar with the surroundings. However, my guest and I were new to the tour and very much new to the Richmond's food scene. Therefore, we were already excited to be there and to experience some of VCU's Alternative Eats (that was the name of the tour)!! We were encouraged to wear comfy shoes of course and the meeting spot was a museum on VCU's campus. Most of the tours are walking tours, but Leah informed me about one (or two maybe) tour is on a bus throughout Richmond. The tours are held every weekend rain or shine. We parked on the street (2 hour parking) but the tour was from 2-430pm so we figured oh no...better get money out for the towing company. We didn't return to the car until 5ish but the car was still there unticketed...yes!!! All the places on the tour were great in their own way. This was a great group and I liked them all. If you want to try something new for cheap (take into acct two people at a restaurant spending about $50...but you get to go to 5 restaurants for $110) in my opinion, I definitely recommend it. They don't tell you the restaurants ahead of time so it's a hit or miss I assume, but being that our tour guide is a reviewer herself, I doubt she would set you up for failure. It's definitely ideal to not eat before the tour because after the 3rd stop I was full!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the portions are hearty, not finger foods on this tour. I can't wait to go back and try another area in Richmond... Have fun! The Black Sheep was feature on Man vs Food...fyi :) Also the tour guides up to 15 people Tickets are purchased in advance Check em out :)

The food is delicious and your get to try food from at least 5 or 6 restaurants. This is great because it helps build a list of restaurants that you can go back someday and have a complete meal. These tours are well worth the money and you will be so full by the last stop. I've lived in Richmond for 27 years and these tours keep me abreast of what is new in the different sections of Richmond. I would highly recommend any of these tours for a great afternoon activity. The tour comes with complimentary breakfast and lunch. We got picked up at the little station behind Freedom Car Wash and Wawa. The bus was brand new and very comfortable. They had a selection of apple cinnamon muffins, sweet potato pastries, grapes, and strawberries with blueberries for breakfast. The muffins and sweet potato pastries made by a contestant on Master Chef Junior and the muffins were great. I didn't have the pastries because I don't like sweet potatoes. We were offered a bag with water and a granola bar with brochures for wineries and some for the ones we were going to. The was also a scent bag with soy candle samples from Pink Zebra. They smelled great. Next on the list was gathering the rest of the group for the trip from Norfolk. Once we got everyone, we were offered mimosas; candor l cranberry or orange. We chose orange. Deanna introduced herself, daughter, and granddaughter. She also introduced those who she knew who were on the trip. She provided some great historic facts like the origin of witchduck. She discussed the history of Virginia wine and information about Virginia Born presidents. Our first stop was New Kent Winery and our host was great and very polite. The tasting was very informative and fun. Their wines were fantastic and the Vineyard was amazing. It wasn't on the itinerary, but Deanna put it on there. Next was Michie Tavern. We had lunch there and the buffet was great. The wine tasting, not so much. Third stop was Baubersville and the wine was ok. We weren't really a fan of the environment because I felt out of place even though I was dressed pretty nicely. Last stop was Horton and our host was amazing! We had so much fun! We will definitely do this tour again in the fall because it was great and it was so much fun! Happy to have been part of the inaugural trip!

The Virginia wines were excellent, and everyone loved the history lesson. Now I have another group of friends who are jealous and want me to host a wine tasting for them. I also love the fact that it's a local business. Deanna's (the owner's) friends and family love to help with her tours, and they are the nicest people. I plan on continuing to support Fruits and Roots Wine Tours, and I'd recommend them to EVERYONE!

Erika and Chris were wonderful from the moment we checked in! After freshening up and dropping our bags in the Arcand suite, we were welcomed with a wine and cheese happy hour to get to know the other visitors and learn about the area and what to expect for the weekend wine tour we selected. Each morning we were served a delicious made from scratch breakfast using local organic ingredients at our own personal breakfast table. Each evening we were left a couple of local chocolates to go with their own dessert wine in our room. The wine tour on Saturday was wonderful, I am very happy with the vineyards we went to (I hadn't been to any of them!) and how much time clearly went into creating the package for their guests. They even take pictures out at the vineyards to send you later! The property is gorgeous and I felt relaxed the second we got out of the car upon arrival. Then, all the little details Erika and Chris have put into the place really make it stand out. From the robe and slippers in the room, to the popcorn and cookies they leave out in the common area, to their sweet dogs they let me pet because I missed my own. I loved everything about this weekend. It could not have been more perfect!

It was a chilly day and we followed the instructions to ring the bell when we were outside. Shout out to the folks here who provide the cute cat with a heated blanket to lay on during cold weather. Members of the staff quickly came by to let us in and we walked into a empty sitting area. To be fair, it was around 3:00pm on a Wednesday. The vibe inside is eclectic, homey, and comfortable. We grabbed a seat at a table near the fire. We had time to review menu. I picked a classic Whiskey Sour and my Mom got one of their warm whiskey cocktails. Both of us really enjoyed ours. We sipped and savored them and just enjoyed a bit of a respite from our road trip. We both got a bottle of their whiskey to take home with us. These aren't your standard whiskeys and they are definitely more expensive than what you'd probably get in the liquor store. We've been enjoying our purchases at home since our visit. Copper Fox is a nice stop and I'd recommend it to folks wanting a break and a beverage.
