Chris also provided a liability waiver to work on our property (which I appreciated) since the work was to be conducted on the coast with an overhanging cliff to the beach. Chris and his crew were very hard workers. They were prompt, safe, cleaned up well, and completed the job per scope and in the time frame he quoted. We paid the bill upon successful completion of the work. The neighbors were so impressed with the work that they hired Nature Boy for work in their yards, too. They showed up right on time to begin the work. They removed all the weeds, then graded the property, applied industrial strength weed block Fabric over weed preventative, and then laid gravel over the top of it. They were a personable and professional, very easy to work with. I was very pleased with the finished product. My yard went from looking like a jungle to a nice clean slate. She said that she was OK with his previous services. I live out of town so I called him and asked him to do work on my mother's yard. Nick told me it was $40 a visit and that it would run an hour to an hour and a half every couple weeks. My mom has shrubs, she does not have grass. I finished visiting with my mom and called him a few days once I returned. home, out of state. He went out after this call and completed her yard stating that it took him two hours. I just left her house knowing what was needed, Which was some shrubs and bushes trimmed and gave him the benefit of the doubt that he may have winterized my mothers yard for the year, as two hours seemed excessive. I'm not sure what took him two hours to be honest. I have a large house and yard I know how long it takes me and I also did yardwork while at my moms and I knew exactly what needed to be done. However, my mom indicated to me that she was having our family member help her cut bushes that the Gardener did not do and was weeding an area I specifically requested him to do. My mother tends to be picky so I gave him the benefit of the doubt . I spoke with him on August 4, requesting his services for her. I received his bill on August 19, 14 days later. It was $240. Apparently, he charges $40 an hour not a visit which if I knew that or if that was indicated in our conversation, I would not have hired him. While I value the work of landscapers, 40 an hourFor trimming shrubs to me, is unreasonable. I called and left message and his girlfriend returned my call and told me that they charge $40 an hour and that they had two people go out and do my mothers yard work (girl friend being the second person) and they politely did not charge me for two people only one so rather than $80 an hour for 2 ppl, I was fortunate to pay 40 for two. His bill did not show the dates of service and when I asked him two of the dates or within the 14 days of my calling him which he stated it was 3 1/2 hours of work with two people. We discussed every two weeks for yard matinence so I'm not sure why he came out two weeks in a row. Also, he charged me for the day back in June. Which is not unreasonable, However, we did not discuss it or that it was not previously paid for. I do know through my mother that he did trim her yard A prior time to my visiting her. We corresponded through texts after his girlfriend left the return call message. He became very defensive accusatory and "victimized" by my "harassment" in attempting to inquire about the charges, was a misunderstanding between the $40 a visit or $40 an hour, Dates of service, etc. He was rude, his customer service skills are reactive, and defensive. I'm a pretty patient person and I feel it's my business if I've hired a person to do a job and ask for clarification because the bill was $180 more than we discussed that as a business person he would be willing to have that discussion in an adult/ professional capacity and appropriate manner. He immediately went on the defensive, I attempted to clarify my issue but he remained on the defense. I am wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt but after this exchange and his threat to follow up with my aged mother who does not handle her finances because she's battling Alzheimer's, as a threat. He told me that my mother hired him , I did not. To my knowledge my mother was not planning to have him return, nor was there any agreement between them that she had hired him above and beyond the first day he did her yard the the one time, two months prior. Not a Pleasant experience. I rarely if ever ever written on yelp either positive or negative on a company but this was a disturbing experience.
