I have been meeting virtually with Melissa Fairchild at Nystrom & Associates for about 6 months now and I cannot believe the massive change in my quality of life! I have had issues with anxiety my whole life but in the last 5 years it has gotten considerably worse to where I couldn't sleep more than a couple of hours. Melissa took the time to listen to my concerns and what had been happening with my anxiety and sleep issues and has gotten me on medication that has stabilized my anxiety and helped me to sleep through the night! I can now focus on my job better and everything in my day to day life is easier to manage now that I have been able to get my anxiety under control. read more

MELISSA FAIRCHILD is not a good psychiatrist and will make you feel like shit even if nothing is wrong. keep in mind i see her online, and she doesn't get to see my medical stuff until AFTER my doctor send it over. i have had anorexia for 5 years, and it's nearly impossible/ hugely time consuming and expensive to find someone who specializes in eating disorder. she has a general basis of it which i thought was fine, because she is just a psychiatrist and solely is for my medication targeting anxiety and depression. for my last appointment i had missed 1 doctor visit (weight and labs) and she then proceed to tell me that i looked visibly "sicker" and that if i didn't get it together i was going to DIE soon. she then proceeded to make it so i couldn't get my antidepressants until 3 days later leaving me with huge withdrawal. i saw my doctor 2 days later who told me i was more than healthy, nothing wrong with my labs, and that a treatment center wouldn't even take me if they wanted to. i feel like i've been treated very harshly and i am actively trying to find a new psychiatrist. if i could leave 0 i would. read more

Complaint 1 N&A refuses to explain codes/re-bill session despite my in-depth research & explanation citing session empirical data & CPT code docs written by AMA. N&A: 1. unbundled 99214 (evaluation & management[E/M], Moderate level medical decision making[MDM]) into 99214 & 90833 (code for psychotherapy[PT] added onto E/M) with PT performed w/o my scheduling/knowledge/consent violating medical ethical tenet Autonomy. N&A describes PT as "coaching, problem-solving, education related to side effects of med[s], & how to mitigate these" but these not true PT & if necessary part of psychiatric E/M, already included in 99214; otherwise unnecessary so no code allowed. also unnecessary as I already had N&A psychotherapist. 2. upcoded 99213 (E/M, Low level MDM) to 99214 when session only qualifies for 99213 as at 25 minutes, 20 documented PT thus 5 left for E/M (may not double count time) & MDM level was Low not Moderate as session covered single med lemborexant with potential generally manageable side effects for single stable chronic illness(SCI) of insomnia, tolerated well for 39 days at 5 mg feeling need more so increased to 10 mg as planned last session. Other conditions all SCIs & meds long tolerated weren't worked on. Provider themself stated assigned Moderate like for 99214 not Low like for 99213 with any change in med/dose, but this isn't sufficient condition. With element of MDM "Risk of Complications &/or Morbidity or Mortality of Patient Management", "Rx drug management" is example only & med/dose change isn't criterion; risk level is. If med/dose change doesn't pose "Moderate risk of morbidity from additional diagnostic testing or treatment", then it alone doesn't justify Moderate. N&A providers have been using this too loose decision rule to assign Moderate, so undoubtedly very many N&A sessions have been upcoded & over-billed in fraud for profit exploitable population patients, especially mental health. Same true of unbundling & upcoding described above (many of my sessions). === Complaint 2 sent N&A this message many times; ignored: I must contact N&A patient rep/advocate/liaison, ombudsperson, & HR & demand my rights as (former) patient healthcare institution N&A be upheld. Despite many pleas, N&A denies rights, blocks my email from all N&A emails & all phone # except 1 QA who refuses to help & tried call as N&A coerces & they dictate I don't have concern to address & hung up on me mid-sentence saying need help. Zero N&A people to count on. QA ignores all voicemails & emails, 5+ different unresolved problems I explained in depth multiple times, neglects some over 4 months since 5/6/2024. many questions no answer. probable discrimination as I persist bill dispute backed by my in-depth research citing session empirical data & AMA's CPT codes (see other complaint). This is a general comment about Nystrom as I had 2 video visits; the provider is out of the Savage office. For both visits she thought I was a no show as her schedule said they were in-office visits. So I waited on Zoom quite awhile until she joined. My profile showed the provider being out of that office, but there was a note it was a video visit with the Zoom link. I contacted Nystrom after the fact and was told that if the provider didn't join, I needed to contact them and they would contact her to join. The main issue with that (other than it appears to be their administrative glitch) is that I was on hold for almost 10 minutes. As far as the particular provider I saw, I read her initial and follow-up evaluations, and a few things were inaccurate. My medication list was based on outdated information, and not what I put in the paperwork. I pointed this out and no changes have been made. Another example is the assessment said I got 8 hrs of sleep nightly - it's more like 5. We'd spent about 5 minutes on my lack of sleep so I was surprised to see that. She also had statements about my support system that were inaccurate - it was like reading about someone else. She did provide thorough care in my opinion but the video visits aren't working, and the distance from my home to the office is unrealistic. Will be changing providers. read more

Used the "request an appointment" function on their website. After 2 weeks I received a response to go ahead with an appointment. I disclosed my insurance to them and scheduled a date and time with a specific therapist over the phone. I received email and voicemail confirming my upcoming appointment. I completed their paperwork. Everything was fine until a literal day before the appointment I was informed that my insurance would not be covering my visit after all and I would have to pay out of pocket if I still wanted to see a therapist. This came from the company whose website states "We accept all insurances including medical assistance and other state health plans." read more

I was very disappointed in the care at Nystrom. My child was in months of individual therapy and was recommended an additional program. The timing program would have required him to miss a substantial amount of school so we declined to participate. We were then told via email that because we choose not to participate in the program all appointments were canceled and we should look on the back of our insurance card and call the number to find a new therapist. This is an unprofessional and cruel way to treat a child who needs help. Find someplace that will value your child as a person not a widget on an assembly line. read more

My ARMHS worker, Kylia is the most outstandingly helpful and caring professional I've ever met! Their billing department (Sarah) goes beyond words to help with any financial difficulties! I met their new CEO and can see what a perfect fit he is for such a GREAT company this is! Anyone suffering or in need of mental health care is making a great and wise decision to hire this FULL SERVICE and COMPASSIONATE provider! I have been sent a letter saying they can no longer see me as a patient, after being told this would not happen, because of connectivity issues on both ends. i had a virtual meeting via zoom with my psychiatrist, but i was unable to connect because my internet cut out momentarily. i called the office and they claimed they sent me a new link via email- i never received another one, and the one i had previously wasnt working anymore. so i called back. i spoke to a man who assured me there wouldn't be any penalties because i tried to attend the appointment multiple times, and then tried to connect with my psychiatrist via telephone instead. he then told me he would have my psych's team contact me- they never did. now i'm being sent the letter i previously mentioned. this office is severely lacking in communication for psychology/psychiatry and i would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Do not see Alyssa, she was my first therapist I had and ended up making me feel worse in the end. She was great in the beginning and supported me, by the end though she got more annoyed it seemed and made false accusations that boundaries were crossed being I had emailed her about some questions and issues that occurred. In the end she canceled my last appointment with her 2 hrs before so not able to say goodbye or get some questions answered. She doesn't so well with conflict it seems she would rather just hide then answer serious questions. read more

My daughter loves her Therapist Alex Forbes! My daughter is 16 and struggling with normal mental health issues. Nystrom is super convenient and the front desk staff at the Eden Prairie site are so kind. The online system for billing is also great, because I can just pay online after a reminder. I liked it so much, I brought my son in for play therapy because he was experiencing some anxiety around the pressures of competitions in Basketball. read more

Dr. Schroeder is very unprofessional. She gets very snappy and condescending when I try to describe my anxiety and symptoms. She is very rude and frankly I don't think she understands anxiety at all. I wish that I had read the reviews before I got involved with this place....never in my life did I think that I would feel worse after talking to a counselor, but that is what happened. I am experiencing anxiety due to a family issue (external stressors) other than that I have a very stable and calm/successful life. After talking to Avery twice, trying to explain the characters involved in this family/holiday situation and what is happening, I was stunned to get a phone call from Avery telling me that she was going to have someone else talk to me instead (she fired me!) - and later reading what she said about me on the paperwork. it didn't sound like she believed what I said about the others behavior (all true) and labeled me as having generalized anxiety or something. When I called in, the receptionist mentioned Paranoid Personality Disorder was in the notes. What?! I mean, I have witnesses to this situation but do I need to have them call my counselor to have her believe me, that I'm telling the truth and not paranoid? I just wanted to talk to someone to figure out how to resolve this the best way and what to do. Run, do not walk away from Nystrom. This place is not going to be able to help you. Avery was quick to judge and label me, which nobody needs when they want to talk out a situation with someone. read more

Due to going on medicare i dont give a care mt medication was not covered even though I've taken it successfully for 2 years, i was denied this necessary treatment. I'm now going through the process of making it necessary. Another two months of going without necessary meds because they have to prove bipolar depression, anxiety and mood disorders. I came to Nystrom for my child's anxiety/sleeping issues. What a mess this place is... where do I begin! First, it's a patient mill - starting with the reception area which has a row of at least 5 receptionists crammed so close to one another that their elbows are touching, all looking like harried college kids working at a call center, wearing headsets and talking super fast so they can process the high volume of customers... not to mention the patient waiting area, set up like an airport gate for big international flights. Second, their phone lines are clearly outsourced to some poor rural area - phone reps sound uneducated and audibly sigh or click their tongues with annoyance at everything you say. Third, they make you sign up for a e-document system that does. not. work. Ever. But it sure emails you a lot of reminders! Multiple reminders for each appointment, multiple reminders to add other healthcare providers or update your profile, plus notifications that you have new documents uploaded - and yet not a single document ever loads. Fourth, extracting your records is impossible. I switched to another provider only to find out that it takes them 10 business days to fax the new provider our patient assessment. When I tried to expedite, the phone rep could not reach anyone at the actual office so I am left with no ability to get my records which with the holidays delays my appointments by a month, ugh. As far as our therapist, she was... fine. Didn't really have any good practical suggestions but perhaps there was not enough time before we left. read more

Basically an assembly line of PA's and Dr's who have 5 mins with you to refill your meds. I seriously changed to my GP to fill my prescriptions. Dixie Shelton was the only good one I've seen and now she's gone. The woman I have to see has the personality of a dung Beatle and could truly care less about my medical and mental health. My last trip there I think her comment about a current health concern was "That's too bad, you'll have to live with it and maybe a counselor would help". I don't think she even made eye contact once. Now understand I go once every 6 months as required. I do not go every other day with meltdowns. I just was asking for some basic information. I wish I didn't have to leave even leave one star because this place doesn't deserve a star at all. It may be a good place for you if you have general mental health problems or counseling needs. However, if you have serious problems with severe anxiety and depression, or other difficult mental issues, this is not the place. They admit they are very conservative with medications. That doesn't help those of us who suffer from debilitating mental health problems. The psychiatrists I saw were demeaning and heartless. I felt like they could care less about what I go through on a daily basis. Their only advice is to go to the ER. My advice is to not waste your time with this place. Find somewhere else. read more

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this organization to anyone. Communication is poor and unprofessional. Furthermore a LPN is not the same as a nurse, RN. The LPN responsible for assisting me made HIPPA errors and excuses for delayed services. I was scheduled with a Nurse Practitioner when requesting a Psychiatrist who in turn diagnosed me immediately but offered nothing in the way of a treatment plan. The same Psychiatrist had no problem pushing for me to schedule another appointment. I immediately scheduled a second opinion with a different organization. I am still waiting to hear back on test results and it has been one month since my initial appointment. Since then I have met with a different Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and had two therapy appointments. If you need immediate treatment or help, look somewhere else. read more

This is not where you want to send your child for any kind of help. This place causes more anxiety and distress because of how they misdiagnose and mismanage treatment and testing for their clients. They are just interested in getting you and/or your child into their system to make more money. I have honestly never met more incompetent and unethical people in the mental health field than I have at Nystrom. They misdiagnosed my child. Thankfully I took her tests to another provider to review them and the therapist was clearly distressed that they couldn't understand the tests! My child is now getting great treatment at that facility with a new therapist. It's been a much better experience. DO NOT GO HERE! I can't stress this enough that if you're looking for ethical people that care about you and/or your family's health and well-being, this isn't the place to go. You'll be wasting your time and money. If I could give a lower review I would! Went in for our daughter. Went to two visits and the first therapist left. We went to the second therapist and on our first visit he told us he was leaving! Now they want to charge me $400 which is insane, for therapy sessions that did nothing but cause more issues with the my daughter!!! This place is the worst place I could ever think of to take your kids. They obviously are crappy company seeing that they can't keep a therapist for more than a month! I will never go back and I will tell all I know to never go here. For a place that's supposed to help emotional issues they sure know how to create hem. read more

Terrible company. Please dont waist a dime on them. I have many bad experiences from here. To start with I talked to a "psychologist" if you can even call her that. After explaining that I was severely depressed and considering suicide I got a response of "I'm sorry to hear that. I should mention I dont have anymore appointments for the next 3-4 months so you'll have to wait to talk about this. A few weeks later I was admitted to a hospital for suicide. After reaching out to management all I got was. We will look into it. And then charged me over $100 for it. Also they decided to send my debt to collections without informing me. Which was a bill I was fine to make payments on but now they are refusing to adjust any medications that are again making me severely depressed. They made the mistake not to ask me to pay and now I'm left without help on medications that can severely hurt me if not managed. Dont waste your time here. After voicing this comment on there instagram which is a complete honest comment. They blocked me. Seriously bad company. I'd be happy to watch them get shut down. This review pertains to the Nystrom & Associates location in Eden Prairie, specifically. I routinely go to the Duluth office and everyone is consistently fantastic, however, they currently do not provide neuropsychological testing at this time. I was in a car accident several years ago, at which time I sustained a severe concussion. I noticed cognitive changes over the years and asked to be set up with some testing to address said deficits. I was told it would require four appointments in Eden Prairie: an intake session, two three-hour testing sessions and a results session. Eden Prairie is two hours from my home, and I am a full time student with 60+ hours per week in commitments, so finding time for these appointments was challenging enough. The intake appointment went well, as did the first testing session. Due to how early the testing sessions were, I took it upon myself to stay in town the night before so I could get a good nights sleep (I have issues with insomnia). I arrive for my second testing session and apparently the tester, Amy, had called in that morning. They apparently tried to contact me. My phone shows they called an hour before, which wouldn't have mattered either way because I would have been halfway through my drive if I hadn't stayed in town. No one apologized for the inconvenience, they simply had me wait for a scheduler to be available. Rescheduling this appointment was met with absolutely no flexibility on their offices' end. Apparently, Amy wasn't able to fit me in on a day that would better suit me so I had to miss a whole day of my clinical hours to come back. I was irritated at this point and didn't want to come back for the results session, but have them mailed to me instead. Apparently this was a big issue and the scheduler didn't think they would be able to accommodate me. I left pretty miffed, asked if I could speak to an office manager, but one was not available. A week passes, I complete my testing, and we revisit the results appointment. Again, I tell her after the previous weeks debacle, I want the results mailed so I am not driving four hours round trip for an hour or less of information. Again, this is made to seem like a very inconvenient choice for them, and that she could but it wouldn't be an official copy, just a draft. I said fine, send the results and I will set a tentative appointment in case I have questions. I want to reiterate that on more than one occasion, it was communicated to me that the results take TWO weeks to generate. So, it is getting closer and closer to this tentative appointment (set for 3/5/18), no results. I finally call on Thursday the 1st, and apparently Amy had only finished them two days previous so I would not be getting my results before my appointment, thus kind of forcing my hand to actually go to this appointment as I was becoming impatient and wanted to know what was going on already. Well, come this morning, the day of the results, I go to leave my house at 7:30 (appointment at 10) and I am having car issues. My husband is at work so I cannot take his. I call down there and explain, but apparently my appointment was cancelled on their end because Amy called in sick AGAIN. The gal claims I should have gotten a phone call. Look in my call history, no call exists. I am livid and frustrated to no end. I should mention, on the call I made Thursday, I asked to have the office manager call me to explain my frustrations but this was really the final straw. I could have gone anywhere for testing, decided to use their office and this is how they treat patients? My time and money is obviously of no importance. I will probably never get these goddamn results at this rate. I will never, EVER, set foot in the Eden Prairie office again. read more
