Their dog is the perfect and lovable addition to your fantastic night. Their tasting is seasonal with farm fresh ingredients that harbor heart and passion in every bite. Every dish locks in a flavor that is perfectly balanced with the vegetables paired. The husband/wife duo are such humble people, yet so artistic in their ability to make you feel like the only people at their restaurant in the most scenic and picturesque garden. Their dessert is so hardy and decedent that by the end of their 10-course tasting you leave feeling satisfied and more educated on what it means to be vegan. Definitely come here to dine, you will not be sorry!

One of the better vegetarian tasting menus I've tried. My wife used to be vegetarian for 10 years…read moreso I've been dragged along to a lot of these (mostly in NY - dirt candy, daniel, candle 79, etc). This meal was surprisingly good and also a great value. We did the 9 course tasting menu for €68 Euros. My favorite dishes were the mushroom, caipirinha pie, and the chocolate decadence dishes. They were only able to give us 1 Portuguese Chocolate Cake "Pan de Lo" but that was great because they gave us two chocolate decadence dishes instead were 10x better. I would ask to see if you can get the chocolate decadence or Caipirinha pie instead of the Pao De Lo when getting the 6 or 9 course (maybe even pay a little more). The areas that the meal could be perfected is the tofu dish tasted really good but looked kind of nasty and they should do something else besides the Seitan. Dinner * Mushrooms (Excellent) * Roasted Cheese and Alheira (Great) * Vegetables Millefeuille (Great) * Tofu (Good) * Seitan (Ok) * Green Broth (Excellent) * Grilled Endive (Great) * Chocolate Cake Pan de Lo (Ok) * Caipirnha Pie (Excellent) * Chocolate Decadence (Excellent)

I know what you're thinking. With a name like NOLA, you're presuming this is a Cajun-Creole…read morerestaurant or maybe even hopeful that Emeril Lagasse opened a Porto outpost of his New Orleans institution. Well, you'd be wrong. Now sit down while I tell you this is a flexitarian cafe that happens to make tasty dishes. NOLA is actually an acronym for "No Labels", a cooking philosophy that excludes preservatives, processed foods, and refined sugars. Sound dull? Not at all. Jamie W and I were pleased with the dishes we ordered. First, we shared the 12€ Cauli'n'Cheese, a toasty mix of roasted cauliflower florets and housemade vegan cheese sauce, topped with their own specialties, salty gra-NOLA and "facon bits" (Photo 8). Loved the crunch. For his entree, Jamie went for the 15€ Green Bowl, quite a healthful mix of avocado, spinach, kale, edamame, pickled onion, Granny Smith apple, and broccolini. It was also topped with the crunchy salty gra-NOLA and drizzled with lemon-miso vinaigrette (Photo 10). Very fresh tasting and probably too nutritional for my appetite since I ordered the heartier 18€ Salmon Curry with quite a pool of ginger-spiced green curry sauce. It came with a braised salmon filet accompanied by black rice, broccolini, kale, and toasted peanuts (Photo 9). It was definitely not vegan but still gluten-free and pretty satisfying. We finished off our dinner with a couple of their specialty coffee drinks, the 5€ Iced Coffee Latte with coconut sugar and cardamom for Jamie and the 6€ Iced Vanilla Latte with maple syrup and oat milk for me (Photo 7). We really liked the quiet vibe of the place, and their karmic guidelines was printed on signs everywhere. We kinda felt bad for the dutiful server who had to take care of three floors of customers connected by a precarious spiral staircase. FOOD - 5 stars...all the healthy aspects of food but with tasty ingredients AMBIANCE - 4 stars...cool, loft-like setup, not loud SERVICE - 4.5 stars...very diligent server TOTAL - 5 stars...not Nawlins but better for your vacation diet RELATED - Exploring Porto? A very beautiful, clean, modern cafe on a street opposite Igreja das Carmelitas…read more When I entered and shared that I had a reservation, which I booked through The Fork, the server who greeted me seemed confused and unsure, and told me that it probably wasn't confirmed by the manager. Fortunately after checking in it further, she was able to give me a table in the back. It took awhile for someone to take my order, and when I ordered a flat white, they informed me the machine was broken, and they only had filtered coffee. Certainly a disappointed but, hey, stuff happens. I figured I'd just get a coffee elsewhere afterwards. I ordered the Wild Eggs, and the dish came out at a reasonable pace. It was tasty, but not the best I've had in Porto so far -- the bread was stale, so the crust was so crunchy and tough that it was hard to chew. It was a good sized portion, though, so I had leftovers to take away. However, no one came back to check on me or to see if I needed the check. The servers seemed busy with other tables, and I can understand, it's a busy, popular restaurant. But I got the sense I was an annoyance, and they couldn't be bothered with me. Which I also get, because tourists aren't super welcomed by locals in Portugal. Though I've felt much more welcomed in other establishments during my stay, so it wasn't very comfortable for me here. The location, atmosphere and food is what kept this from being 2 stars, but given that the prices are on the higher end, it wouldn't be my first choice of places to revisit.
